    The menu is where the golden egg is in this thing. The sounds get three times better once you shape, mold and layer them in the tone edit and other menu options. I don't hear alot of people really changing to many of the preset sounds too much or layering. This sounds ok for just a live session though. I'm telling you though, if you want huge, intricate sounds, the menu is where it's at.

      @@constantfind9052 It's alot jump ripple. I think it's 128 voice polyphony. I have never went past the polyphony on this bad boy. This thing is an absolute beast, especially with all the tr 808, 909, CR-78 and more drum kits that come with it as well. All of my music on my channel here, comes from the Roland JD-XI and the Electribe 2. I will never regret buying the Roland JD-XI synth. It is my main piece of gear that I use. If yoy have any more questions, I'm here...SBN

      @@constantfind9052 Yes, ypu can create up to 256, 4 measure pattern with any synth sounds that you want. All you have to do is work on your synth sounds and drum sounds, save it to the pattern your working with them on, and it will stay on there until you erase them...SBN

      @Richard Longford You know what Richard, you are right, the menu is really big, and there is an editor for this, but I never used it. I have had the Roland JD-XI for over 3 years now, and it was definitely overwhelming at first, but I kind of know where everything is, and if this can help you at all, maybe press and hold shift, then scroll left to right, and it will take you to the specific parts like envelope, detune, filter, etc.
      I had a love hate relationship with this thing for the longest time, but have ultimately come to love the thing. If you have any other specific questions, I would be glad to help answer them...SBN RESONATE

    • @youtubenatan
      @youtubenatan 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Richard Longford Yeah, there is some menu diving, but it's not much to get to the tone edit and effects edit menu, also the ADSR envelopes are in the tone edit menu. I never updated it because it already came with the latest version on it when I got it in 2018. The thing that makes the Roland JD-XI what it is, is having the drums in along with it. There are a few nice sounds, some descent sounds, and there are some, just like any other synth, that are not great, but if you are looking for just a synth, I don't know if I would get this, but it having the drums with it, it is just so easy and fun to make music with.
      The fun factor is out of this world to me. I can make something on the Roland JD-XI quicker and faster then any other synth/drum machine that I have ever had before. That two in one factor can only be found in more expensive gear like synth workstations and MPC One, which I also have, but the fun factor on the MPC One is not like the JD-XI...SBN RESONATE

    Really enjoyed that Doug. Its amazing the sounds that this little synth is capable of, in the hands of someone like yourself . It really punches above its weight . Indeed nearly all the JDXi demos outshine those of the larger JDXa , at least those that I've seen anyway . Brilliant stuff as usual . Regards Kieron.

    Kudos to you - you crushed it! Glad to see you are making videos on JD-Xi and SynthMaster One 👍
    JD-Xi's quick sequencer (no other synth has this sequencer on the market) with all the epic drum kits and its DJ-style features are the best for its price! It offers instant gratification and results right on the couch or on-the-go. At 3:15, 3:30 and 8:45, I was like - "OMG! Is he going to delete those out-of-sync arpeggios/drums or not?" and you did and recorded them again. LOL 😀

    Wish you would started with some heavy low end or had one of the Roland webcasting GO:CAST devices to really bring out the sound, but I love this song. My engineer ear is on all the time and I try not to be too nitpicky, esp when the song is so good I really dont care about details. Thanks for this man. I was gonna get a JD-XA but ended up getting a Sys-8. Really wanna pair it with a JD-Xi. I've always gone with Roland since my dad let me play his Juno-1 in the late 80s/90s with a BOSS DR-550 and a Tascam Portastudio 424 (which I still use :P). Ive tried other brands, and nothing is intuitive as Roland. Theyve kept the same scheme since the 80s on how to use their gear. I love it! Nice to see someone with capable hands jamming for once

    I bought one earlier this year when it was on sale. But I used it for maybe 2 weeks and have not touched it since. It is in the official bag now. I was not sure with the feature where you play the track in a different key. Sometimes the volume of one or more? instrument turns down to very low(bug?) Also I was a little bit worried about the lack of pattern storage space. At the speed I was going I would run out of storage in a month or so. Though the sound quality and ease of use is pretty good.

    • @thebmxband1t
      @thebmxband1t 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rudy van Etten you can back it all up to storage on a cmputer. I think you can also dump out patterns, exchange them with others so like build your sets then reimport back to the JDxi. Think i got that right?
      If you run a DAW midi syncing you can record the sequencers output into it, slight few milliseconds drag but nought serious.
      Out of all the kit i own, that little lump of plastic i cant do without.
