- Whiskey Sour cocktail recipe
Created in the mid-1800s. The Whiskey Sour is now commonly made with an egg white for added texture, although this was not part of the original recipe. When made with egg white ,the drink is technically known as a Boston Sour.
- 1 oz / 60 ml bourbon or rye whiskey
- 0.75 oz / 22.5 ml lemon juice
- 0.75 oz / 22.5 ml simple syrup
- 0.5 oz / 15 ml egg white
- 1 dash of Angostura bitters
- Garnish: skewered maraschino and an orange slice

How do you like your whiskey sours? 🤔
Check out my book! bit.ly/STB-cocktail-guide
Could you do a smoky blood and sand?
Add the egg white to the tin first in case you screw it up
yeah but he’s clearly extremely experienced
Was gonna say the same thing. The egg can be bad. Also, it’s standard to put the cheapest ingredients first.
@@whatskraken3886Or he did it this way because it’s a short
Or just don’t screw it up 😂
I didn't understand this advice. Can someone explain it to me a little clearer?
A good way to start off the day!
Tell me you’re an alcoholic without telling me
@@micntr, nah, just the best way to start of the day ;)
I've always said, "Americans drink to get drunk, everyone else just drinks." Obviously this is a sweeping generalization, but I think there's some truth to it.
For example: if people here say they might have a drink in the morning, they're assumed to be alcoholics. Meanwhile, most of the actual alcoholics I've known in my life wouldn't drink during the day. They'd only drink after work, but get absolutely trashed every single night.
The people I've known (myself included) who are willing to have a drink at any time of the day have been the ones to know their limits.
It's very interesting to see the often unexpected ways in which our ancestors puritan attitudes have shaped our modern culture.
When someone enjoys a drink in the morning their called in alcoholic. When someone consumes a 1300
Calorie breakfast just to go “Nap it off” their called an American.
This one is by far the best whiskey sour cocktail 🍸
Looks great. I prefer my sours without ice though,i have the sensation i can feel more of the silky texture of it that way
Whiskey sours are my favorite! Actually all whiskey cocktails. Whiskey imparts a special taste and quality that goes great with fruit juices if it's balanced nicely. Vodka and rum are the obvious choices. But sometimes they are lost behind the fruit juice flavor
Gotta find a punchier rum ;) look for something from Jamaica or Barbados if you can. I promise these flavors won’t get lost, good luck trying to bury them lol.
All that being said, whiskey is lovely. I’ve been on a huuuge bourbon kick lately.
the egg adds so much i don’t understand why people in the comments are against it
Man these shorts are cleannn
Love your videos whether shorts or full vids!
Thanks Andi! 🙏
Cheers mate!
Perfect, works great 👌
i love your videos!
One of the best! Amazing video's, keep it up! 🍹🍸🥃
My favorite drink
Someone really smart explained to me that you should dry shake the lemon and egg white then add the other ingredients. I can’t remember which amazing bartender told me that 🧐😂
dry shaking the ingredients emulsifies and aerates it better and then you add the ice. You get much better foam that way. Also, double straining it will get you a nicer foam too.
I can vouch for this recipe. It’s sensational 😉
Just made it. It's definitely good!
Yummy Boston Sour.
Please do an espresso martini next!!!
I believe he's done one already
- 30ml vodka
- 30ml coffee liquor, I think he used Kahlua or some cold brew espresso liquor (Tia Maria also an option if you want it less sweet than Kahlua)
- 30ml espresso
Shake it ~10 sec with ice so you get that nice foam layer
Serve in a chilled coupe or martini glass with three coffee beans
My favorite drink 😍
Can u make a tutorial on how to make angostura bitters?
You don't make those, you just buy them lol.
Try this if you like, do the same but put half of the ice in a blender with the mixture and then pour it in a glass with ice...if you dont like it like a sorbet, dont put the ice in the blender, but still blend it, it creates the perfect foam. And other thing, in chile and peru, we dont mix the angostura, just add a few drops on top
Miss that smile, I feel cheated with these short videos!!! 😃
Lol, they’re in addition to my standard vids.. the smile will return!
@@StevetheBartender_ Thank you! Hope you and your family are well!
Great job boss. U good to go
I like to use a reverse dry shake cause I get better foam from the egg white
cutting edge content.
Oh I love a whiskey sour!
Hey Steve! I have a few coctails I have created and know you do shows on that. When will you be doing this again? I watch almost all of your content and always seem to miss it
Шикарно!!!!!🎉
hello steve. with the whiskey Sour being one of my favourite coktails by far, I always struggle with the dryshaking. my shaker, same kind that you are using, always leaks… ofc when i add ice it foesnt do that. is it just bad quality or do you have any tips?
I enjoy your youtube shorts very much and I have been inspired quite alot by them.
greetings from switzerland🥃
Try a reverse dry shake. Add the ice first, shake, strain off the ice, then shake again. It's my preferred method.
Get a better shaker or you're not sealing it properly
What’s the difference between Whiskey and a New York sour? I just tried the whiskey sour this New years at a bar and I really liked it.
New York sour has a red wine float 👍
Try one omitting the simple syrup and adding a little Amaretto
I love whiskey sours
Steve miss old videos, i know u Just upload this kinda of videos cause u Already had It... When u Will upload old style videos?
When I get some time in the studio, soon. 👍
Is there anything i can substitute for Angostura Bitters?
My favorite way to make a whiskey sour is combining Evan Williams and Simply Lemonade and giving up on life
Ango is a nice addition, .75 SS to .75 lemon is a bit sweet for me tho!
Bro please make special cocktail from carrot .could u ? Thx
I strongly prefer to serve this drink up. The ice messes with the egg white head. Just my opinion... But everyone else is wrong!
Why the orange garnish? Use lemon garnish. Also a few drops of angostura
Steve-o. You're not in your shorts??? 🩳 🤣
What’s this taste like?
Ok, I’m gonna try a new one. You know how with egg whites, you can make peaks by adding some sugar? Well, in the shaker, I’ll whip them up, then add the rest of the ingredients.
How do you make a nip and Tuck?
Not sure, I haven’t heard of it.
@@StevetheBartender_ its three shots of 151 rum, splash of lime juice on the rocks. 1 nip and they tuck you away
Lol, I’m confused.. why did you ask me how to make it if you already know..?
@@StevetheBartender_ I just thought you'd get a kick out of it
Ah ok, thanks for sharing 👍
song name?
New York Sour is this, but with a red wine float on top.
*without the egg white
No eggs
No eggs in cocktails.. or no eggs in your whiskey sour?
No matter how hard I put my shaker on I always seem to get leakage with this drink.
When you dry shake? When it had ice in it, the metal contracts and helps to form a good seal.. try dry shaking with a single cube to give it a slight chill and seal the tins.. let me know if it helps!
@@StevetheBartender_ when I dry shake yeah, could I chill the tin before the dry shake? Would that work?
Worth a try but I don’t think it will.. cos then you’re placing to contracted tins together… rather than placing them together, adding ice and then it contracts to make the seal.
music, please?
Be my remedy, house of say
Egg white?!
Thanks mate! Made this tonight in a family CockOff (Cocktail Comp) and it was a hit ❤🎉
Cheers bud.
What do you do with the rest of the egg tho. Seem's like a waste just to toss it out.
Make a second whiskey sour 👍
Bro did you just put eggs in my whiskey!?
Nah, he put whiskey on your eggs bruv
@@christianziur1773 I’m holding my chest right now.
@Dewain Powell its for making a froth.
Same concept as the sweet fluff you use in a meringue pie
I thought a whiskey sour with an egg white was a Boston sour
Technically yes but the Boston Sour is still commonly referred to as a whiskey sour.
@@StevetheBartender_ very helpful thank you. I don’t drink so it’s good I learn this stuff 😂
Y el vino?
It’s not a dry shake if you add whisky
Dry shake = no ice
@@StevetheBartender_ if you dry shake the egg before, adding alcohol, you have more foam
I’m happy with my foam levels as is 👍
Try with Aquafaba much better
Ah yes, NO MORE THAN EXACTLY HALF AN OUNCE OF EGG WHITE. Australians are wild man
Ahhh double strain your drinks with egg white! Nothing worse than bits of egg in your drink
You have to shake it better than the video shows. I do a reverse dry shake and I double strain because it yields a smoother head of froth.
What no shake n smile?!? Lol
anyone else come here and realize they're never having whiskey sour ever again? lol. I had never seen anyone make it; had no idea it involves uncooked eggs. #pass
Technically a whiskey sour has no egg.. a boston sour has egg 👌
I will not be putting an egg in mine. 🤮... Sorry
just use sweet and sour mix instead of egg, lemon and Simple Syrup
RAVAGER
Its basically a white lady. Interesting
Isn't the raw egg gonna give me salmonella?
Depends on the eggs that you use. Fresh, clean eggs are safe(r).
@@StevetheBartender_ okay, thanks
I only like the puur thing, Irish on the rocks 🪨.. real rocks! But respect 👍
This would be relevant if anything about this cocktail was Irish.
What do the egg whites do?
