  • Had to travel from Lemmon Valley Nevada to Carson City Nevada 30 miles from me. The trailer was pulled by a friend of ours George. The trailer we could not find the weight tag so weren't sure if it would work. As it was it just barely fit. It took about 2 hrs of strapping and chaining and of course pulling it onto the trailer. George now knows the weight limit of his trailer is 6,000 lbs. This M37 is 300lbs lighter because no winch was installed that adds 300 lbs to the weight, but it still weighed 5,695 lbs. Enjoy the video. I will of course do follow up videos as I find out more on this Power Wagon. The cable winch was not strong enough ended up buying a harbor freight 2 ton hoist to hold the M37 in place in my garage.

    Very cool old truck and what a bonus that it is rust free! This will be a cool project Larry, and I'll be watching every episode of the restoration!

    The M37's are great vehicles. I look forward to following along on this series. Should be a fun project!

      Oh yes it has been an interesting project so far. Continue to need my parts as I find things that were missing. I believe the Army motor pool used this as a parts vehicle since it had the same mileage back in 1974 so in 59 years it has not run.

      Yes Jay it's a project and a half for sure but the engine has 19,000 miles on it. Took me most of the day to shovel out all the sticks and leaves that were inside the cab and in the bed. And am going to have to buy a 24 volt coil and some ignition parts. But it's all doable.

      Thanks Buch and thanks for subscribing to my channel I subscribed to yours as well. Yes this guy originally had this power wagon on Market place for $4,000. Then I noticed the next week he dropeed it to $2600 so drove 30 miles from my house and bought it. My brother Ron said if I didn't buy it he would so I knew I made the right decision after he said that. Also it is a U.S. Army Power wagon from 1952 3/4T 4x4 m37 . I took on this project a couple weeks after my oncologist said I was free of cancer after 6 months of Chemo therapy.

      Yes, It will be different than working on my F150 for sure lol The old guy who bought it at the Military auction was starting to remove parts. The Master cylinder under the truck was gone but found the new one the old guy bought so need to re install that. Missing a 24 volt Coil have to buy one of those had to buy a missing oil pressure gauge. The oil bath air filter is missing I have to get one of those and of course I have to go through the wiring to make sure nothing shorts out.

    Larry ,that is a very large project compared to your rifles and your radios. Nice deal and congrats , Slim.

      @LarryDeSilva64  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes indeed it is a much bigger project than I normally work on
      But for years I have been telling my daughter Becky we needed to do a Father daughter project and this is it. It will give me more challenges As I get it running and finding what parts I am missing. It's fun to work on something different though

      @LarryDeSilva64  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I kind of thought it was when I saw it on Facebook Market place. I had looked about two weeks before he had it listed for $4000 so I wasn't too interested but the week I saw it he had dropped it to $2600 so I just had to have it. Just like me take on a major project like this after my oncologist pronounced me clean no more leukemia. So I am strong enough to do the work and boy is there a lot to do but I am getting it little by little.

      I had a lot of clean up work to do but no areas eaten away by rust anywhere and a totally straight body. It will take me awhile to restore but it will be worth it. Thanks for watching.

      It does have metal plates that are still readable . This will be registered as a Parade /show off road vehicle since the gas mileage on these sucks 4 to 6 mpg.
      24 gallon tank and only 150 mile range.

    It really is in great condition Larry and like you said no rusted out panels. Super buy at a great price. Are you going to keep it original, paint, star etc?

    • @LarryDeSilva64
      @LarryDeSilva64  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes it is in great condition for its age. I am going to have to find an original 24 volt coil and the original type spark plugs. The original old guy who originally bought it from a military auction 10yrs ago must have had dimentia tried to put truck coils and parts in it but these had a 24 volt system. The original generator engine and transmission are all there. And I found the maintenance records it was last service in 1977 and then parked and it has 19,000 original miles so no miles on the engine at all. Yes I am going to keep the original military paint.

    It looks like you got an excellent deal there Larry! Is that truck a winch version, or a WOW?

    • @LarryDeSilva64
      @LarryDeSilva64  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It has a PTO for the winch but the winch was removed
      But all the nameplates show it at one time did have a winch. Thanks for watching

    I've never seen one of those critters. What motivated you to buy and tackle it?

      well, I just finished my last Chemo Therapy and was pronounced clean from cancer last week and needed a new challenge. It's 2 yrs younger than me after all. Well at first when I saw this the guy wanted $4000 for it 6 weeks ago on Facebook Market Place and just saw this last week he dropped it to $2600. I have told my 37-year-old daughter we have to do a Father, daughter, truck restoration and this is it. It won't be a cheap rebuild and will present some challenges i'm sure.
