    Ryan: Great to see your channel, found out about it from Dale Sweger's channel. As to moving the fixtures, I put in a channel overhead my mill and lathe from a sliding barn door that I picked up a PeeVee Mart. It allows me (I"m 75 now and getting weaker) to pick up a fixture with a lift and roll it along the rail to where I want to install it so I don't have to lift it at all. By the way I still have that Little Yamaha 180 that you fitted pistons for about 15 years ago in your dad's shop, runs great.

      Thanks Ryan, I wondered what happened to your dad's shop as I noticed that it was gone. Nice to see you are really getting into it. Still with the Firefighting crew at the city? I forwarded a link to your channel to Craig as I thought he'd get a kick out of it.

      He shut it down at the young age of 70 a couple years back and now enjoys puttering in the shop and hanging out. Glad to hear you still have that bike kicking around. I have been taking a short break from making videos for the summer and just have one big job left before I get back to it.
      Good to hear from you :)

    Sweet shop, thanks for sharing!
    I suffer from a condition known as toolstipation, which manifests in trying to squeeze too many tools in too little space. I just built a shed to alleviate some of the built-up pressure in the main shop... the shed will store ladders, sawhorses, scaffolding, pressure washer, chainsaws, spare table saw and tools I don't use too often. I fear that the shed is not addressing the underlying condition, just delaying the inevitable.

      Hahah its only delaying the inevidable . I suffer from a tool adiction my self , never enough room and always another tool i want :)

    Cool shop for sure. I’m thinking about making some shower curtain type dividers to serve as the blankets to both protect the machines as well as to use as chip containment curtains. You know how it is trying to maximize our smaller workshop’s. Getting creative is the name of the game.
    Thanks for sharing your work space my friend. 🍻

      Your welcome . Glad you enjoyed it. I like the idea of shower curtains for chips i can see that working realy well . It may only eliminate a precentage of the dust however .

    Great idea to use moving blankets as covers! And here I was going to get my sister in law to make one from Jean like material!

      Great idea , cotton or not plastic i tbink is the way to do if the shop is climat controlled ( no moisture ) . I am uaing cotton moving blinkets from PA . My plan is to take them down to the laundry mat every so often and wash them when they get realy dirty .

      Just brainstorming here, would you be interested in a custom sewn lathe cover made of leather or something similar with a cotton liner sewn in on the inside? If so what would you value such a cover at ?
      I’m looking at making a batch up for the more common home shop/ hobbyist lathes but I can’t really gauge how much interest there is out there for such a thing.

    • @Wrighmachining
      @Wrighmachining  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jasonhull5712 its a good idea . I think the only issue that could come up its moisture condencing under the cover causing rust to form . However if the top was leather amd the sides a breathable fabric it may work good . What about a leather top with velcro sewn into it . And cloth washable sides that came off . ( clearly marked so it could go back togeather quick .)

      @@Wrighmachining it’s something that would have to be quick and easy, buckles & snaps, Velcro and zippers. I just noticed so many old timers with their metal lathes so clean and oiled beautifully. Meticulously cared for and the cover of choice = light blanket or sheets. Occasionally a canvas drop cloth.. but how many guys are really going to A) spend money on a cover, B) take the time to put it on and off. It would be a investment to protect your investment. But like I said, just kicking around the idea. 🍻

    I’m excited for the prices you have made. I’m looking forward to the dro install. I have been in the same position as you @13:45
    I have a lathe/ mill combo, as well as a dro kit from Grizzly. Just need to stop working on the house long enough to get the lathe running and do the install!
