@@irdmoose Oh I did. I contacted ethics. A few days later my DM was upset I called them instead of her to talk about it. Why will I want to talk to a person that even told me to work off the clock and hour before opening and hour after? This is the same district manager that told me she has nothing to lose, that this job was her play money. This is the same district manager that told me she enjoy firing people. I was already very understaffed in my store because my employees do not like her so she will come in on my day off and terminate people that were actually hitting behaviors. I had an SGA that called out 28 times did two no call no shows she was only given one corrective and she is still there really? I was forced to work longer hours and then I was told to find a way to reduce them. This is the same district manager that had loss prevention come into my store toquestion things that she told us to do and she pointed fingers to me during the investigation they found out that I did not do anything wrong that one situation was a training issue. Anything she told me to do that was unethical I did not do. She will call me on the phone and get me a hard time about it she was very sarcastic too. During this loss prevention interview the witness to it was another store leader from my same district how embarrassing is that? All of this was reported to HR they did not do absolutely nothing.
I feel bad for Katie for being the victim of a classic high level employee in the company wants you gone just out of a personal vendetta. I imagine someone high up didnt like her for whatever reason and told HR to make up some excuse to fire them. I really do hope gamestop gets sued up the ass
In my opinion, they were after my District Leader….. My store was ranked number 1 in the region pretty regularly and I was a Store Leader Mentor for the district. When they fired me, several other managers and store employees quit within days of it happening. The district ranking TANKED. Then, almost a month to the day later they FIRED my District Leader….. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
My husband showed me this video and I just recently left and if you ever have another interview and need past SLs, I'm open. Idc about getting attention just want the truth out and help be the voice of the ones who are too scared to talk still.
I went to a GameStop a few weeks ago, I walk in and they’re in the middle of a pep talk it seems.. it’s who looks like a district manager and 2 employees.. the managers talking about sales and telling them what they need to sell the customer...I’m the only customer there btw. He’s going on about getting people to sign up for whatever credit points system they’ve got... about 5 min. After I walk in another employee of the store walks in behind me...he’s introduced to the new store manager.. have a little back and forth..and manager asks oh so you’re late?? What time were you supposed to be here? Employee apologizes and explains himself, obviously something that happens when your schedule is the same for a long time and then all of a sudden changed on you.. he was a few minutes late on a day he normally had off for a while.. he misread the schedule and was called in by one of the other 2 employees already there... when he realized he was to be at work he rushed to get ready for work.. and was on his way. Manager tells him in a stern voice... this never happens again! You are to be here at exactly what time you’re scheduled or face termination... I’m just standing on the side looking at action figures like 😬😳 then he goes on to start lecturing him some more... he sends one of the other 2 to lunch.. you don’t do that shet in front of customers ffs..ONE, and two... it’s a hell of a way to meet your new manager... my produce manager chewed me up in front of a customer after I was late for work for the possibly 15th time in a row.. he had good reason.. I deserved it. I’m barely meeting you and that’s how you’re talking to me? I’m looking for another job ASAP... did I mention there were 2 other employees in the store? and I was the only customer there? It was dead.
Omg Chris, I totally feel you on the pictures. My company I work for requires closing pictures for my store every single night! So sick and tired of being underpaid and treated like 5 year olds.
Story: Corporate fires a DM that runs 9 stores. Corporate plops those 9 stores onto the neighboring district DM. That DM is now in charge of 22 stores. GG
I get the feeling u are young. What GameStop does now would guarantee they would fail 30 years ago. It still will except they bought up and neutered all the competition.
In my local area it was called funcoland. It was just a store. Then gamestop. And it turned to fail almost immediately. Not recently. Since then it's been sucks after sucks.
Oh I do have a story about an issue with gamestop Canada having to do with the ps5s and new xboxs. They won't let us put up signs in store to indicate we are sold out of those consoles at the moment so people come in see the display boxes and think we have those consoles and we have to tell them we don't have them and they get mad, confused or both. The reason they won't let us put up signs is because it'll "deter people from buying anything" yet they get deterred when we tell them we don't have any
What was it ( I don’t want to be controversial but I’ve never seen racism with my own eyes only in film so I don’t. Trust it but am curious about your story!)

So about a year ago, I moved from Indiana to Florida. I had a few preorders in Indy and I went to the gamestop down here and told them I moved and wanted to transfer my preorders from there down to here. They called the store in Indy and explained that I had some preorders I wanted to transfer down there and the Indy store said I HAD ALREADY CANCELED THE PREORDERS AND GOTTEN MY MONEY BACK. So I pulled up my gamestop app and showed the guy the preorders that were listed, and the Indy store said I didn't have them, that they were canceled and if I had any issues I would have to call the customer service line and explain the situation to them. So instead of just transferring my 3 preorders to another store, they lied and said I "didn't have them," so they wouldn't have to transfer them and lose the preorders in their store. So I hope they enjoy my 45 dollars they're holding hostage and that it was worth all the money they've lost from me to either Amazon or just simply using the console stores to buy digital
I've just stopped going to GS, mainly because the past 4 times I've been there they tacked on the warranty without saying anything then when I said "no, I don't need the warranty" they took the game & said "well we just got a message saying it's been ordered online & I can no longer sell you this copy." Plus add they took 10,000 rewards points off my rewards to renew my membership without me even being there & when I went to use my points they were gone. Called corporate & they said "oh, well if your membership is about to expire & you have enough points we automatically take them to renew it."
Great video, thanks! Was watching the whole thing and it's depressing. Worked for GameStop myself for eight years. I loved my work, but I hated the superiors. I live in an European country, so it wasn't as bad as in the US. It almost is now, happy to do my own thing now.
From the us haven’t been to a GameStop in years been getting games digitally and sometimes a target a local place glad you left. Alot of people here in the us hate GameStop.
Just want to say thanks Camelot for getting these stories out & exposing what it’s like working for gme. Hoping Ryan Cohen continues the mass exodus thru the DM’s & rvps who still have this back assward way of thinking
Well Tim "The Toolman" Taylor from Human Resources was already fired during one of the last realignments so I'm kind of hoping Cody's former district manager gets fired next. I don't think he ever mentioned his former district managers name, but from all the stories he sounds like a scumbag.
Wow. You know what though, it sounds a lot like how amazon and their dsp's treat their delivery drivers. I know cause I'm a driver and man do I have some stories.
Yeah I worked as a delivery driver for Amazon for less than 1 month. Worst job I ever had. I don't even buy anything from Amazon anymore that's how bad I hate that company.
I'm a little bit confused with the first guy saying he put in his two weeks and they fired him two months later.... uhm a 2 week notice is a formal way of saying "hey I'll be here for another two weeks, but after that you're going to have to figure it out without me".... why would he stay two months ? Maybe he was pressured into staying as if maybe someone was guilt tripping him for leaving and living his life.
props to the guy who still worked there speaking up. I hope he has already looked for a new job, i'm sure they got Tim the Tool Man combing through your videos.

Gamestop used to get a lot of my money, like a lot. I was always a Pro member, re-upped my membership every year. They got my preorders and all my sales. I haven't re-upped my membership in at least 5 years, maybe more, and I haven't stepped foot in a Gamestop since Borderlands 3 came out and that was only because they got my preorder and my fiancés preorder of it and I hadn't been in one for a long time before that. I was over it. The rewards for the membership changed and they weren't as good and the sales/deals weren't worth it anymore. However, I will say on a positive note our primary location on the coast of Maine was always amazing. The associates were always friendly and comfortable to be around they usually had a great sense of humor. I enjoyed giving them (the associates) my business and interacting with them. They never added stuff on without us knowing. They would ask if we wanted the warranty/protection and if we said no they were like okay cool. There was NEVER any pressure from associates pushing items on us. So to the Rockland Gamestop associates thank you, you all deserve so much better than what Gamestop offers it's employees.
When I worked there in 2007, we weren't allowed to eat food at the counter. My store manager, would take an hour or more lunch everyday. Course if I said something, I would of lost my job.
These ppl seem really cool and hardworking. I think they will find something better. Heck at this point I think cleaning sceptic tanks with a toothbrush would be a better job than GameStop

I got a PS5 on December 12th at Gamestop (Which was talked about in the video)and it was a disaster but man was I desperate for a ps5. I would recommend getting one from just about anywhere else..The employees didn't have a clue about the drop until the public did (just a few minutes before they ACTUALLY dropped, so they were totally unprepared and not backed up by GS.) I could tell they were super stressed but thankfully it was handled well with the tickets and the people that didn't make it in time left without incident but I know that dealing with that kind of stress is not worth 1$ over minimum wage. GS doesn't even trust their own employees and it's sad

@28:22. Working off the clock. I currently work for an awesome boss. An Indian boss. Not native American. As in from India. He doesn't believe in breaks, lunches, overtime, or holiday pay. He's the 2nd best boss I ever had. I don't get paid for this, but I get paid for that. I'd rather eat a lunch and get paid for it for example. He needs me so my hours are set. It's not for everyone. But it suits me just fine. Btw. I work a gas station on weekend nights. One of the most dangerous occupations. The next being liquor stores and scuba welders. But I like my boss. And the store pretty much runs itself. It's not big money. It's easy money. If I have to sacrifice, for a good job with a good boss. I just gotta watch Camelot to remind me.
Why don't you learn a skilled trade so you don't have to keep jumping from retailer to retailer? That's what I did. Lots of construction companies will hire people with no experience and you'll get paid on-the-job training. That way you'll know a valuable skill that you can go to any state and make money.
Hang on; they tell you to work off of the clock and hand deliver products with your personal vehicle with no compensation? No! ANY employee who is stupid enough to do that, deserves the abuse!! When they tell you to work off of the clock, or act as their carrier, the correct answer is "Fuck you, my time is value, I don't work off of the clock, and UPS is not on my uniform". "Go ahead and fire me, and I'll be seeing you in court". "I dare you". Then sue the hell out of them for all the laws they're breaking. Either they back down, or they fire you and you sue. Either way, you win. Staying quiet and taking it? LOL, No!
Get a phone recorder app for your cell phone and record every conversation with your boss. When he denies something later or claims he never told you to do something play it back for him. It like corporate checkmate lol
I worked at Gamestop for a brief time. I left because I did not like the job and during the plandemic, finding help was impossible so I found myself basically flying solo for a while. My DL was okay... no issues with my leaders. The job just had too much miicro management for my taste
Gamestop needs to be sued, hardcore! At least a class-action lawsuit. I hate that I ever went to that place. I remember when I was 18 or so, I applied with 2 friends of mine. We all got interviewed. I knew games, my roommate knew about games. But our other friend knew nearly nothing about video games. My roommate and friend got hired to open a new store. They helped put everything in the store together and then were let go immediately before the store even opened. I know my roommate WANTED to work there. He cared and wanted to be at gamestop. And this was back around 2005-2006 or so. Seems they've always been garbage.
I used to work in Retail it's the same stupidity just beat the caring out of you and as soon as you stop caring they get upset with you for not caring.
A lot of retail companies want employees to have open availability even if you are just a cashier you do not even have to be full time you can be part time and they are like you have to have open availability.
The sad thing is that none of this is new. It has been going on for a long time (I was there 17 years in total). The severity of the BS varied depending on management, but it was always present.

Great video. So much truth to their stories, as a former SL I can relate to most stories. Then went back a few years later ultimately leaving for good! Best decision ever!
I hope GameStop employees, especially like those in California report this activity to the Labor Board.
Sorry, labor board is controlled by gruesome Newsom!!
@@b.powell3480 No, his name is Fuhrer Newsom (HEIL!) and his Labor Board SS will certainly do something about it. They'll goose step all over GameStop for treating Fuhrer Newsom's slaves improperly. Only he gets to do that while sipping wine from his PSPS-exempt winery. And remember: if GameStop fraudulently steals hours from Newsom's slaves, Newsom can't steal from them through Income Theft.

GG
I'm curious to see how the interview with bestbuy managers looks like. I worked there for 3 years and things started getting chaotic towards my end.
Because of the firings?
The reason they won't let us put up signs is because it'll "deter people from buying anything" yet they get deterred when we tell them we don't have any
Corporate logic

This sounds like every shift I've worked at Domino's. -_-
So Domino's adds items to customer's orders even though they didn't ask for them?
I did this (IN to FL) 2 years ago a year after you did reading this and looking back haha! Too funny! LOL
The only one hour long TH-cam video I’ll ever watch 😂
I've just stopped going to GS, mainly because the past 4 times I've been there they tacked on the warranty without saying anything then when I said "no, I don't need the warranty" they took the game & said "well we just got a message saying it's been ordered online & I can no longer sell you this copy." Plus add they took 10,000 rewards points off my rewards to renew my membership without me even being there & when I went to use my points they were gone. Called corporate & they said "oh, well if your membership is about to expire & you have enough points we automatically take them to renew it."

Doordash had deliveries for GameStop at one point. No tip, no trip.
props to the guy who still worked there speaking up.

They helped put everything in the store together and then were let go immediately before the store even opened. I know my roommate WANTED to work there. He cared and wanted to be at gamestop. And this was back around 2005-2006 or so. Seems they've always been garbage.
