  • Join the guests of Lord and Lady Bearsted and experience the weekend house party of a 1930s millionaire. Surrounded by the internationally important art and porcelain collections. The stunning gardens being returned to their 1930s heyday consist of a sweeping lawn, giving way to a series of terraces and herbaceous borders leading to a kitchen garden, tranquil water garden and the National Collection of Asters

Both of my Grandparents on my mothers side of the family worked at Upton house in the 1950's. My Grandfather was employed as carpenter and my grandmother was a maid

These beautiful gardens were my visual inspiration for the grounds of Designation B in my novel Thirty Four Minutes Dead. I will always love these gardens and thank the owners very much indeed.

This lovely Manor House & terraced gardens are also the venue for an amazing Peter Brueghel the Elder painting called THE DORMITION OF MARY - I strongly recommend visiting this National Trust property. UPTON HOUSE & GROUNDS are located just outside BANBURY - treat a friend or partner to a aesthetic scenic escape:

Visited today. Second NT property in two weeks, after the much-praised Erddig Hall near Wrexham, this conceded nothing in quality to its Welsh counterpart (if anything it's slightly better, due to a superb collection featuring Canaletto's and Rembrandt's!). Great having vids like these to "review" a grand day out. Very nice! John, Staffs.
