When this game was initially revealed, I thought It was gonna be a weird adventure of people who can change words into actual weapons, now that I've seen about 8 minutes of this video I know that it's just a game about a bunch of weirdos playing music and complaining about society. I'll pass now that my initial assumptions were misguided.

I like this game, powers, and an Interesting alt history premise, set in seemingly in a NvS America somehow leaning on todays identity politics... (how's that happen) if you're going to have modern politics have it set in a modern timeline, not an alternate 1990's
I feel like there was a game developer who had a solid concept but no full story and funding, who then ended up with a publisher who inserted a writing team that hits all "millennial-writing" marks in writing and characters. It's not the game mechanics that will make this game unplayble the dialogue and characters in this demo are hilariously insufferable for no good reason at all and pretentious on top of that and if not it's boring due to emotional expositions no one cares about to no end, aka the "millennial-writing". This is not how you write a dynamic team with tentions. This is another game that will need an option to turn of the dialogue. But a special power is to "Trigger Yourself", this is hilarious not for the reasons they made it. Same happened with Forspoken, there was no real story and plot line, just rough outlining. Got very talented game devs laid off because of that.
In this instance, I personally don't think it's the publisher's team doing but the developer themselves. Ragnar Tornquist, the head of Red Thread Games and the guy responsible for all of their previous games has been drowning ever deeper into "progressive politics", I think possibly with the help and further influence of other progressive writers, this cringefest is the result. I agree that the game had a good concept because I don't think that Ragnar is a bad writer (a clear example is The Longest Journey), but going into political extremes can sadly kind of ruin one's talent.

Dreamfall Chapters' writing was captivating, I waited a long time for that game. Maybe Ragnar is done with making money to live comfortably and tries new things. He got his progressive writers alright. Aside this being "Smash The Patriarchy": The Game, if it was made with the queer community as the target audience in mind so be it, lets see how big that audience is after all, everything but a white man is represented. I feel bad for this channel showing off this game just for 55 people downvoting it. It's very good to see some gameplay to see how the game really is.

What's funny is that, I remember when Saints Row remake came out, even some of the people whom the game supposedly catered to thought it was boring and a waste of money. So I really don't see this being that successful outside of a few people who are hardcore fans of the devs or those who want to feel "represented" and it's their whole identity. I agree, the downvotes are unwarranted, they could downvote the original trailer instead of a channel that's just showcasing what the gameplay looks like.

They even have the "I can't breathe" line in this demo game play, they aren't developing a game, they are playing BINGO. But hey, we have over two decades of fantastically crafted games to chose from, that don't have any of this. Developers back then walked so these developers can..... stumble in their footsteps. Man, they are supposed to run. Game engines these days do so much legwork it's unreal, back then you could only have highly rational and logical engineer-type of people creating games.
I can completely understand why people won't enjoy this game. Hell I'm someone who can just turn their brain off and enjoy pretty much anything but even I can't really stand the dialogue lol, well at least when in the combat sections. I never really cared for politics and such but the game is definitely loaded with them and you can feel it, it's definitely very in your face. And the combat banter just makes me want to screw my head off XD But aside from that, I honestly think the mechanics and concept is... pretty solid. I myself sometimes enjoy games where it's a mix of doing "life stuff" as seen in the first parts of the demo. The game has a style and a certain charm that I kinda dig about it, very comic book like. I like the combat system, it feels fun and very high energy and I honestly think the use of words as abilities is a pretty neat concept. But again, the dialogue, at least for me, tanks the game pretty hard. But other than that it looks fine, just clearly affected A LOT by politics. But ignoring that, the game has a lot of just fun and silly elements to it, like the mini cute drawings of characters or question and exclamation points above head, and I like the personalized thought bubbles. TLDR; game has ideas and concepts I enjoy but politics and dialogue sour it for me.

I’m a bit disappointed the premise is okay but it looks very clunky.but to be fair their games always had issues even the fist longest journey with it’s softlocks. I really feel like they are about to do their own life is strange 2 with that one. The mashup of fantasy and tech was awesome in their previous games here it’s just boring sci-fi and lame ass one liners. That cat lady from from dreamfall 2/ tlj3 had more charisma than all of those characters combined. I was there for the jank and decent story telling but this one is too watered down.
