Yes, that's a great museum! Thank you for the recommendation. Cairo has several other wonderful museums that are not related to Egyptology, but still worth a visit: -The Coptic Museum -The Museum of Islamic Art -The Gayer-Anderson Museum -The Mohamed Mahmoud Khalil Museum ...any others that folks recommend?
Hiya great video very helphul thank you,I was a bit worried about which museum I needed to go to see tut mask,I was wondering can I take pictures and videos inside these museums freely.
The mask is still in the Egyptian Museum Cairo in Tahrir Square. No plans announced to move it yet. You can take pictures and videos for personal use in these museums, with the exception being inside the King Tut gallery (no photos or videos) or the Mummy Rooms at the NMEC (no photos or videos).
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel Thank you,I am going in may and very much looking forward to it. Altho a bit gutted that i wont be able to take pictures of tut's exhibition, all your videos are very helpful.thank you

Great update Gus! I have a question about the Egyptian museum in Tahrir Sq. Is there any bag storage area at the museum? This is because my flight is expected to reach in the early morning and I hope to visit the museum in the morning on the way to my hotel in Giza. I will be carrying my backpack and I don't know if its possible to carry my backpack inside the museum. My hotel in Giza only allows check in the afternoon, so its a bit hassle for me to return to Tahrir Sq in the late afternoon as I will only be in Cairo for 2 days, and I wish to spend more time to cover Giza and Saqqara.
Hi there! As far as I know, the museum does not offer this--does anyone have any experience with this? I would recommend stopping at the Steigenberger Hotel Tahrir Square (or the Ritz Carlton) and asking them if they can store your bag for you for a fee. There are also online luggage storage websites that show different places you can store bags, although I have not used any. Has anyone had experience with this?
As of now, if you only have the option to go visit one museum, definitely the original Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. However, once the GEM fully opens up, definitely the GEM!
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel thankyou, I really want to go Egypt next year maybe.. but I am doubting about the USA or Egypt, I am from The Netherlands myself
It should be much cheaper now to visit Egypt. Egyptian pound has fallen 15% today against USD following Egypt's federal bank's decision to completely float the pound. Yesterday: 1 USD = 19.7 EGP Now: 1 USD = 23 EGP and is expected to reach 24 EGP by the end of the day.
That’s true-the title of this video should read “Cairo’s 3 Ancient Egypt Focused Museums” 👍🏼 The Museum of Islamic Art is great! So is the Coptic Museum, and several others around Cairo ❤️
Thank you very much! It clarified my confusions.
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching.
Very helpful & interesting video ….thank you so much for sharing ❤
My pleasure!
Thank you for the clarification, Gus.
I visited the NMEC in Dec '23, and found it very eye-opening. Can't wait to visit the GEM next.
We can’t wait either!
While the GEM is not open yet, I would recommend the Museum of Islamic Art | MIA in Cairo

Hi Gus, have you heard any more about the possible 'soft' opening of the main hall of the GEM on 1st November ? Thanks
Nope, unfortunately I have not heard anything more. I will keep everyone posted if I do hear anything!

What you advise? since the Grand Egypt museum is now open yet, but the Grand Egypt museum or the Egypt museum in Cairo?
As of now, if you only have the option to go visit one museum, definitely the original Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. However, once the GEM fully opens up, definitely the GEM!

Is the Gem now open and if so Will it be open now during Ramadan ? Thanks for the video
I am not sure of the times during Ramadan -- I have not heard any updates, and I presume it's the normal hours, but can anyone confirm?
Hello, this question is out of context, but I was wondering if there is PCR test available at the Cairo Airport?
No, there isn’t. Sorry!
Cool video brother
Thanks!
Is it possible to visit GEM and Egypt museum at same day?
Yes, definitely 👍🏼
Thanks
How long would a visit to NMEC and Coptic area take? Hoping GEM will be open by mid December but if not looking at other museums besides Egyptian.
I recommend about 1.5 hours for Coptic Cairo and 1 hour for the NMEC, with a half hour in-between for getting from one to the other :)

Please, as an Egypt tour guide, pronounce the name of Pharaoh Tutankhamun correctly...it's three syllables not four: "Tut-Ankh-Amun."
Thank you!
@@EgyptAdventuresTravel Means "Image of the living [god] Amun."
