Sapkowskis writing is not perfect, but the books are a fantastic look into slavic myth, the games writing is also great except the whole hiding the outcome of the Ciri story line behind questionable choices, but i wouldnt say either is notably better writing than the other. And on top of that, the first season of Witcher barely kept to the books and was largely forgiven because people were happy to see more Witcher and Henry was, as you said, incredibly charismatic. However starting with the second season the Witcher series went completely off the fucking rails and was related to the books really only by the character names
The Slavic myths and heritage are the one of the biggest things why I love Witcher books and games so much. it was sad to see how that basic element got destroyed little by little thanks to Netflix.
Just came to say I appreciate this video. Very good summary of those dumpster series. The saddest part is that the creators of this atrocity created something they always wanted to create. That’s how they see Witcher and any other franchise. The arrogance of those people is astounding!
Blood Origin was so bad and Netflix's witcher strayed so far from the original story that I had to return to Game of Thrones since I felt so cheated by how Netflix destroyed the rare opportunity to create an amazing show with The Witcher. At least I am reminded how much I still love GOT! GOT is a masterpiece! Glad I at least have that!
This show has nothing to do with slavic (polish) dark fantasy that it's supposed to be. The characters are very... plastic, american. They lack depth. It's all colorful, cheery and action packed. This is not how medevial Europe looked like. It's made for the "modern audience".
I agree but I have to say it's very annoying to see the same clips on a loop all the time. Otherwise good video but I'd rather not see anything at all then seeing the same stuff over and over again.
Have you ever put together a TH-cam video? I want you to go give it a shot and see how unique footage you can accumulate. It’s not exactly the hardest thing to do, but this is a strange nitpick
Thank you for this. While I'm someone who can be pleased from bad shows with good cinematography or grading, it's good to know this show is just plain bad across the board. Like i swear this format of review was made just for me lol. Thanks for such a reprehensive review and for saving me time.
Since Blood Origin is out I can't stop hating it. And I didn't even see it, just reviews like here, but it still hurts me really bad. You can't compare that with the game. They PRETEND that it's in the witcher-universe, but it isn't. Even it's a fantasy-world they miscasted the charcters. It's NOT against people of colour when you make a BELIEVABLE eviroment around the main characters, which includes the society/people in the witcher-universe.. You even could bring up POC.. people who immigrated, or you could portrait how the elves split up and had internal issues with racism.. For example "dark"-elves who had been rejected by the "higher"-elves (in mountains), which is why they live in exil and made their own society in the woods, while some of the "liberal" elves even support the elves in the woods and live together with them.. Racism is an important topic in the witcher universe... It's absurd.. the shows name is blood ORIGIN, but they put people together as if they don't have any origin. Which means that POC actually loose their identity in this show, by wiping out where they are coming from.. Wokeism is racism in disguise... This "Look at me!! I am so diversity.."-glitter-politics ruins all the storys we love, ... over and over again.
Rings of Power had terrible set designs and over used CGI more than any production ever. Including Avatar. Rings wasn’t beautiful at all. The rest I agree with.
Even on YT there are far better Witcher movies fan made movie about Eskel titled Alzur's Legacy and Witcher parody movies such as Dwa Miecze I Amulet or Magnaci I Czarodzieje. Not to mention numerous short fan made short films
I'm just going to put it out there, I quite liked it. It was very okay. It was far to rushed to be an origin story, the series needed a whole bunch more episodes to flesh it out. And the beast Witcher at the end make up suit is utterly embarrassing. But overall it was something to watch, that's the best I can give it
Agreed. It's not like the second season of the Witcher was anything to write home about. It's also notable that this series featured a bunch of actors from marginalized communities front and center. The video mentions Henry Cavill's charisma carrying the original series and we're not going to talk about Francesca Mills? She's just a "murdering dwarf lady." Okay. This review was as basic and bad as it tried making Blood Origin sound. lol
"Twink"? And with that, I can't watch this garbage anymore. I didn't love the show, so I was hoping for a constructive review that pointed out the weak spots, even if the reviewer thought the entire thing was weak. I love a well thought out review that makes me re-think my opinions. This isn't that.
THIS! Thank you so much. Wonder if the review would have been so bad if the main actors were...people the reviewer is used to seeing in these kinds of roles.
@@vincenthair9124 Nonsense, I like Michelle Yeoh, but what has she done of real note beyond Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Tomorrow Never Dies. She lost a lot credibility after appearing in STD. If you here shill posting for this Blood Origin trek your taste is pretty suspect.
@@walts4425 you missed out the HK action films that began her career and are pretty iconic. For me she's an absolute legend but no actor has a 100% record. She's one the few actors who has transitioned from action star to actual dramatic actor but more for her films than TV work. She was brilliant in CrazyRichAsians. Haven't seen BloodOrigins but other reviews said she didn't bring A game to it which is fair but at least those reviewers were aware of who she was. Stopped watching STD, it was pretty forgettable. this is actually a stunning achievement with a year containing She Hulk, Ring of power and Willow.
We’re spoiled for choices when it comes to worst show of the year! (Don’t forget new Star Trek!)
I couldn't even finish the first episode. It was terrible like flat, diet, caffeine free soda, not sweet, not fizzy, no jolt, so what's the point?

The conjunction is a multiverse thing. They could LITERALLY explain away anything with multiverse theory. But nope. They did time travel.

“Banshees” is just depressing? I was glad to see the cast of In Bruges again, but I don’t like the sound of that…

Season 2 was bad even my mom who doesn't know jack complained that Geralt was not featured enough & a let down from the 1st season

Your not knowing who Michelle Yeoh is or acknowledging her beyond "the woman from everything everywhere at once" invalidates the entire review.
