  • www.sportaviati... -- Sky Raider experimental amateurbuilt light sport aircraft kits. In this issue we talk to a Sky Raider builder/pilot/owner about his tandem seating Sky Raider 2 which he built from kit.
His Sky Raider is powered by the Rotax 503. At the time that the video was shot the craft was on large tundra tire, but the owner has plans to build a set of floats and install them on the plane.
The Sky Raider 2 is a tandem seating aircraft, while it is labeled as a two seat aircraft it only has control system for the pilot and the weight limit is 150 lbs.
The SkyRaider II uses standard stick and rudder controls with flaps. Power can be supplied by a variety of Rotax and Hirth aircraft engines. Performance of the plane would depend on the engine option and what category the aircraft was built to fit into.
The SkyRaider line of aircraft all have folding wings which allows for ease of transportation and storage.

Sky Raider LLC doesn't appear to be in business anymore, they don't have a web page that I can find. Domain registered to Fred Parker but doesn't have a website associated with it.

I guess the moral of this story is...Stick w/ some kits manufacturers that have a track record, not some "Fly-By- night" ones that just pop up outta nowhere's.....

    at 4.18 of the clip.
These flaps are wrong in such position, they are supposed retract in their natural n original position so the air flow through these two flaps to create more lift while taking off, rather than creating more drag.
    AM I right?

Sorry, you are wrong.. more lift needed for takeoff at low speed. Notch or two of flaps acts to create greater wing area - thus more lift. Next time you ride in a Boeing 737 look at the flaps position for takeoff.. and landing.

n5527n the flaps setting at take off on a 737 is 5 degrees maximum 10 they extend to 40 full flaps on a Piper Archer 3 if using flaps for take off (not always necessary) the setting is just one notch that's 10 degrees in the video they look full extended yes it creates lift but also a lot of drag full flaps is just for landing on take off will significantly increase take off roll distance
