Hi Kimberly! Flowers could be attached to an alligator clip or a comb and clipped to the hair over the birdcage veil comb. Lace can either be hand-stiched to the veil or attached to a bandeau or a clip and worn directly over your hair. Next, place the birdcage veil comb in your hair and over the lace. The lace will be seen through the birdcage veil. I hope this helps. I suppose I ought to make a video showing how to embellish your birdcage veil.
Well done tutorial! Clear, and thorough, very well presented . My only disappointment was....you don't have more tutorials ;) you are an excellent instructor. Hope you will make more videos in the future.
I love the tutorial. I would love to make the veil that you are wearing in the introduction...what type of applique or beading is that beneath the Russian netting?
Yes I'm sorry I was out of the loop but I love this video I'm going to try this I get married next week if u did a video on embellishments would be great ;-) lol thanx for the video it's helps a lot
Hi Kimberly I am sorry to just be responding as business has my hands full, but we are working on a follow up video. Congrats on the I Do! sending blessings your way:-)
Hello! Just wanted to know if I just make a half-head 9" and use pins if I pnly want coverage over one side of my face/eye than all the way across? Or do I make a smaller veil? I am attaching mine to a piece of velcro that will be attached under a headband so I can take it on and off....thanks for the great tutorial!
beautiful! Please can you give us the tutorial of the one you wear? i'm getting married in 2 months and i want to do my own.thank you in advance (PS: i am french speaker lol) or how can i buy that if i live in France?
Hi, I love this!! I am really into this style for my Sunday Services at church!! I will be doning my own from now on. Can you tell me about the piece in the front and how you got the to stay on? Thanks!!!
Thank you and I know you'd look fabulous! The piece I'm wearing is a statement headpiece called "Petal" that is part of my AW14 collection. It is a hand-beaded piece attached to a beaded headband.
Brilliant tutorial, I would have loved to see it positioned on your head afterwards. Such a shame you don't have more videos. I have a bow to go under my veil (that I've not made yet!). I've bought a vintage veil and I'm a little unsure whether to cut the corners. Is it necessary? Thank you
I like your tutorial, it's very helpful! I have just one problem, maybe you'll help me :) I want to have my hair loose on wedding, so I don't know how to clip my birdcage veil to it. I suppose a comb will be a bad solution, but I have no idea how to attach e.g. a crocodile clip to the nettle. Is veil on the clip will looking good?
Hi Ann-constance! You can give the comb a test run before stitching it to the birdcage veil. I would place the comb in the hair by pushing it curved side up towards the back of the head and then reversing the direction (curved side down in the normal position) and sliding the comb towards the front. This back and forth motion usually secures the comb to loose hair. Usually, hairpins are used to further secure the veil on both sides of the head once the comb is in place. Another trick is to use two bobby pins positioned like an overlapping "X" in the hair where you intend to position your comb. Next place the comb teeth through the bobby pins to help lock the comb in place. The comb would cover the bobby pins and the netting would cover the comb. If these comb trials still to not work out for you then you can stitch your birdcage veil to a covered bandeau. I personally am not a fan of alligator/crocodile clips because they are not comfortable for me. I hope this long response was helpful. Let me know how the comb trial works out.
So I bought a rhinestone hair piece with a comb already attached. I'm a little confused about how to do the birdcage veil with the comb already attached to the bling piece. Would you recommend glueing this on? And if so, what type of glue would you recommend?
Hi! I try my best to sew rather than use glue with most of my projects. Is it possible to sew the veil on to the rhinestone comb with invisible thread as opposed to gluing it? I personally like the versatility of wearing the birdcage veil with different adornments. So I would make the birdcage veil with the comb as instructed and then just slip your rhinestone comb behind it. Later you could adorn your veil with flowers for a different look.
Hi Priscilla! This is a Z Malan original piece we call "petals", it is a delicately hand beaded headpiece wired with glass beads and Swarovski crystals. Please visit our website www.zmalan.com for that headpiece and many more. Also email us at info@zmalan.com. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
Hi Bethany! The measurements are 9" for a 1/2 face veil and 18" for a full face veil. Those are the most popular widths for the Russian / French netting. I hope this helps...
@@zmalan7604 I believe what she meant was, when cutting the net with a 18" net, you still use 5 " on the bottom and 5 1/2" on the top? Or these measures change? Thank you very much for your video =D
Thank you! 6 years ago I saved this video to make a veil for my best friend's funeral! Came back to say thank you soooo much!

Lastima que no se inglés pero lo esplicas muy bien y lo he entendido un saludo
I'm not sure if you said this but what was the length of the thread that you threaded in the netting? Was it the same length as the netting?
well done thanks.😀
How do I add lace or flowers to it ?

What is the diagonal cut for an 18" veil?
