Is there any rubber to protect the aluminum from the iPad scratches the aluminum from the cage?
A very small layer. But nothing really substantial

Yes. It’s meant for video production, but I thought it might be useful in audio as well.

Is it possible to use the powercage on ipad with a clear case? I prefer not to insert a bare iPad just to prevent any scratches or scuffs

@@najmi.diPad Pro 11” + ESR clear case is how I did it. I REALLY wanted to hate the cage because of the price, but it’s pretty awesome. Definitely adds weight to the ipad, but not in a bad way. It makes it feel much tougher. It about doubles the thickness as well; but again, for me, it makes using it a little more comfortable to use. If you get one, you might want to take it apart, and swap the ends. Installing it as is, the kickstand was upside down, so the camera was at the bottom. It’s not just a “flip it the other way, dummy” situation, as each end is designed for the charge port and power buttons respectively.
This says nothing of the ability to use the included adapter (also an alloy metal shell) to use sony batteries as an independent power bank.
To my knowledge, there’s nothing else like this out there.
I got this for $110. The versatility and robustness make it worthwhile for me. You have to decide that for yourself.
