The on-screen clocks were all mechanical up until 1981. BBC Two had an electronic ident from 1979 and BBC One didn't get one of those until 1985. These models were very primitive and the original Batwing one actually fell apart moments after it was first tested.
So many practical effects for the early idents, using people moving parts and filming it, long before computer generation of graphics! (The idents before 1985 (?) are man-made props.)

This is the spoken English I can understand almost perfectly, unlike American sitcoms' gibberish. 🤣 However even in the US for a very long time the presenters have had to speak clear & standard English (either British or American one), just like in my Eastern European country the presenters had to speak without any mistakes and stutters, now it isn't as enforced to them as before.
oh yes BBC thats what im talking about! please please upload each one in full, like i would love to see the full video for the dancers and the cow globe and stuff
The first one with the annoucement about it not being suitible for children etc probably showerd a woman's ankle or something mundane like that ........
That's the original continuity announcement from where the BBC took that part of the video. It was introducing an episode of "The Quatermass Experiment". I don't know who said it.
No sabía que BBC hizo sus propias logos histories. Lo debería hacer la Televisora de mí país. / I didn't know BBC made their own logos histories. The television of my country should do it.
I love all starting at 1:31! I know I’m an American, but it just has a nice modern feel to it! I feel the previous logos were “unattractive”. I feel the same about the previous NBC logo...it was god awful!
Temo será imposible..Al ser de origen británico . Podria alguien ponerle subtítulos o bien colocar una voz en español (doblaje) pero de ahí a que se haga.
It was just called "BBC Television" until the BBC's second channel (BBC2) came along, then it was renamed BBC1 (until the two channels were later rebranded as "BBC One" and "BBC Two").
One thing you notice is the gradual shift from posh to regional accents
The posh ones sounded much better.
They really loved their spinning globe :P
+Katy Smith ... The globe of the world is on the coat of arms of the BBC.
So do I. ..
Almost every news in the world used the spinning globe
BBC always be the first 👊🔝👍
how is the map behind the globe reversed lmao 💀

I always had a soft spot for the Virtual Globe from 1991 to 1997. That, for me, was the defining logo
Can't help feeling it's Patrick Troughton at 0:24...

Thank you.
0:39 "We interrupt this programme to annoy you and make things generally irritating for you."
The idents made me love the BBC even though i am a Kenyan!
The scenes at the end are what idents on the state broadcaster look like in most countries.
the hot air balloon was the best
No. The spinning globe in 1985 was the best
Either the 69, 74, 81, 85 and 91 globes are their best for me.
I can remember the 2002 idents though they ended in 2006. The earliest year I can remember is 2007.
I remember these especially the 1974 - 1981 logo :-)
Now on BBC one, the latest news headlines. Live from Wembley Stadium.
i like the one at 1:07 that's my favourite one
THIS IS THE BBC, THE EARTH IS MOVING!

They have the pink panther on BBC 1
I assume they are talking about the movie and not the cartoon. Though I have to add that the cartoon was brilliant.
The movie launched in 2006.
The Pink Panther was a film series starring Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau with the first film being in 1963. The 2006 one was a reboot.

Idents 1953-2013
BBC One - idents (1953-2013)
Who gave the opinion that this video does not suit for children or all of those who may have nervous condition?
Not "condition", the man said "nervous disposition".
That's the original continuity announcement from where the BBC took that part of the video. It was introducing an episode of "The Quatermass Experiment". I don't know who said it.
Lai Chun Him It was an announcer speaking before for possible airing of a horror movie
It was the BBC's TV series Quatermass II that was being introduced by the announcer.
Ferguson Videostar it sure was
Bring back the aerial balloons! The current crop of idents is terrible.
They can`t
BBC1 1985 was the COW globe

Oh look. The earth is shown as a spinning ball, even before our planet was seen “from space.” Programming
What's your favourite ident from BBC Television / BBC One? My favourite ident is the "Balloon" one from 1997.
Do you have recordings of BBC Local Radio Idents, from the origin dates of local radio stations ?
Not the same now

Couldn't disagree more. I found all the logos from then on boring and meaningless. The globe ones were far far superior.
WH isn't it for children but there's no violence or swearing
Son Goku maybe love scene
1:44 haka
¿Como lo puedo encontrar en español?
Temo será imposible..Al ser de origen británico . Podria alguien ponerle subtítulos o bien colocar una voz en español (doblaje) pero de ahí a que se haga.

BBC 1
I’m a bit confused. What channel is this?
@ranranruu! No, the first one ever broadcasted in the UK.
It was just called "BBC Television" until the BBC's second channel (BBC2) came along, then it was renamed BBC1 (until the two channels were later rebranded as "BBC One" and "BBC Two").
Happy b-day, bat wings!
