federally that car is not legal, I'm sure there is some loophole they went through... however in case you guys were wondering, these are now LEGAL for import into Canada, and a few are popping up already.
FOR US CITIZENS & LEGAL RESIDENTS LOOKING TO IMPORT AN R34: As many others have mentioned, 2023 is the year to import the early model R34 coupes and sedans; 2024 for the BNR34 (GT-R). If the US government discovers a non-compliant car being used on US roads, they may send the owner a letter notifying them that their car has been found to be non-compliant and that they must (1) export their car within a certain period of time or (2) surrender their car to the government. If the government is not feeling so generous, they will seize the car without warning. Those who merely possess and drive a non-compliant car are rarely prosecuted nowadays. Those who purposefully distribute non-compliant cars are much more likely to be prosecuted. "But what about the one in the video?" As he mentioned at 2:28, "the car is state titled and insured in Florida." This translates to, "it is not federally legal (like a Motorex or Rivsu car), as it has no bond-release or any other documentation confirming its compliance with EPA regulations and FMVSS." Black Ops Performance imports many cars illegally, and they sell them at prices similar to cars sold by Motorex 15 years ago. They are located in Florida, which is the illegal import capital of the United States. "How did they get it registered?" Florida has many private titling and registration agencies that do virtually nothing to check the legality of the car. As long as you pay the titling and registration fees, the car will be registered. Florida is not the only state with such DMV regulations, but it is the most well-known. "How did they import that GT-R in the first place?" Many illegal importers forge 7501s when importing non-compliant cars. Customs often does not have the time to check, obviously. However, they have been known to approve many non-compliant cars without a Registered Importer. A few years ago, an S15, with its original VIN, was approved by Customs without requesting a bond by an RI. If you know where to look, you can find a digital copy of the very form tied to the S15 that was approved by Customs. It is not clear if the cars imported by Black Ops Performance include valid Customs documentation. "What is the legal status of a non-compliant car with a valid Customs approval, such as that particular S15?" A non-compliant car with a valid Customs approval is technically legal to own in the US. However, it is not legal to be used on US roads. In other words, you can keep it on your own property or in your garage (away from the government's prying eyes) for as long as you want, but you cannot register it for use on public roads. "Would I be able to trailer it to my local track and drive it there?" Although this would actually be a violation of the Clean Air Act, it is never enforced because enforcing the Act in such a manner is near impossible. For example, RB-swapped 240s violate the Clean Air Act, but there is no viable way to enforce the Act upon those 240 owners because DMVs usually do not keep records on which cars have been motor-swapped. Because the non-conforming car would not be in any DMV database, there is no direct way for the US government to find the owner and seize the car. Not only that, but illegal cars being used on public roads pose more of a threat in the eyes of the government than illegal cars on closed courses. "So then when the car becomes 25 years old, I can take it out of my garage and register it no problem, right?" No. It is only exempt if it is 25 years old (to the month) at the time of import. It cannot be exempt if it is already in the country. In such a case, the engine and transmission must be removed from the body, and separated from each other, and all three must be exported to Canada individually. Simply trying to export the car as a whole through the Canadian border could result in seizure by Customs. The car must then be reassembled and driven (or trailered) over the US border with all proper import documents: HS-7, EPA 3520-1, Customs 7501. Moral of the story: settle for an R32 or wait 7 more years for the R34 and avoid the headaches.
A great write up Robert, thank you for that. As an American living in Tokyo now, I am thinking to buy an R34 here soon while they are relatively cheap (prices for all GTRs jumped a little when the R32s became legal to import in the US).
2 years ago you could buy these R34 GT-R skylines in sweden for like $30 000, sadly all are exported to other countries now. But you can still buy a fresh supra here for about $12 000.
Officer Pulaski It does everything for you* That car is a computer on wheels. It's no fun. I drove a r35 once in Vegas and it got boring after a few hours, I drove my homies R34 GTR (in my pic) and I didn't want to leave. jqck They're not to standard here. Simple as that. They don't meet US standards in EPA, crash testing etc... The agencies could run a couple through crash testing in order check its "eligibility" so to speak but they have yet to do that. They're not too worried about making them legal either until the 20 year mark is up.
Sat inside one, back when R34s were only a few years old. They are cool back in those days, I recently checked one out again and it's showing it's age. It's hard to say they are worth the price of admission today since there are so many damn cool and fast cars today for cheap.
Don't be fooled these are still illegal in the USA this car was a show car register which limits it to under 500 miles a year on the mileage which is checked every time registered and if over they take your car. Wait till they because legal in 4-8 years but be ready in USA to pay premium prices on these well over the actual auction and shipping price I would estimate 30 - 60,000 in the first 3 years. Tristen Mahfouz Cars registered for race are not able to be driven on public roads or they will impound the car that's why race cars are towed to the track. So the only way they could drive this is on a show car registry.
Tony Kennedy Just going off the NHTSA originally proposed an annual mileage limitation of 500 on-road miles, and also required that a certified mileage statement be submitted annually during the first five years after import. During a comment period on the wording of the statute in May 1999, the Special Vehicles Coalition recommended that the figure be increased to 2,500 miles (a figure already in use by the insurance industry as a threshold to describe a limited-use vehicle.) The Coalition also recommended the elimination of the annual mileage statement requirement, as such a statement would not accurately reflect on-road mileage for vehicles that are also used off public roads. Both recommendations were incorporated into the final wording of the statute, though NHTSA retains the right to inspect an imported vehicle for the purpose of verifying mileage.
I know, right??? He couldn't answer it with a simple "Yes" but instead gives a shady "It's state titled and insured" response. How does that mean it's legal?? The owner is going to be in for a real surprise when ICE comes knocking on his door...
Tom Kaos (Official) unless it's an ex motorex car or one of the v spec r34 that's legal under the show and display then it's not legal. Seems to be neither. They'll get caught eventually
They never change the gear pattern, not on any car/brand. No company would waste their time and money on making 2 identical gearboxes with the only difference being the gear pattern... However blinker & highbeam / wipers & fluid switches are swapped around, as well as the seating position obviously.
This R34 is in Michigan btw. Going down Woodward Dream Cruise there is a chance you can see one. A year ago there was a another R34 that made it in the USA and guess where that is too... Michigan. So basically if anyone wanted to see this in person then come here
Terrique Knight A new Skyline R34 would cost around $70,000 then you would have all of the expenses that come with getting it into the USA (and the R34 wouldn't be stock at that price)
Adam you should build/buy a 65-68 mustang with a RB26DETT engine, that would be way more unique than an R34 Skyline itself....."There's no 'wax on wax off' with drifting. You learn by doing it. The first drifters invented drifting out here in the mountains by feeling it. So feel it."- Han
i've only seen one R34 in person and two R33s and they were all in germany. the R33s were on two different bases and the R34 was in the parking lot at the Nurburgring track entrance (there was also an R35 nismo there as well). Definitely all beautiful cars and a huge shame we never got them here and are limited to the 25 year rule, but at least we can get the R32 and all the skylines before it, they're popping up everywhere now here in utah lol
they didnt pass safety regulations at the time, but there is a law called the "25 year rule" basically meaning you can register the car legally in the us until the car is 25 years old. So in 2023 the r34 will become legal
its not just safety, due to world war 2 soldiers bringing cars back over from germany and uk al that stuff, like mercerdes, and all those, you could get them for super cheap, and bring it over for a lot less than what you could get it here, its gray market cars, the 25 year rule is so we dont ruin the car market here stateside, you can go pick up (in japan) a well maintained 2006 honda accord for about 3k, over here they are what? 9k? so its not just safety, its due to the market of vehicles.
That DoLuck car has been in the states for quite some time. I remember seeing it over 10 years ago at Sound Performance here in Illinois. I'm pretty surprised how clean it is still. However, I may be totally wrong and this is just another blue R34 with the same kit...doubt it though.
when i was austria there was r31 gts-r that car was epic and i live finland we dont have any rx3 or 31 skyline i just loving supra 2jz tt cost 25k black 6speed orginal
The car was built by the look as a show car to promote their products in Japan. it was purchased by them new in 1999 and kept until 2007. At which time it went to a private collector in Japan. the baby blue car I believe you're talking about is also known as the Dino car. Videos of that car and build can be seen on TH-cam as well
Iceman7 it's not that it's illegal that makes it cool. it's the fact that we never got them here period. where as damn near every other cool jdm came here just in left hand drive with different engines in some. if rx-7, NSX, supra, or silvias were never here then that would get just as much hype. a lot of people like the s15 silvia since it always was never here. that's the reasoning behind all the love plus the skyline is legendary
I guarantee you my turbo rotary sounds different than this turbo I6 which also sounds different than my friends turbo v8, but what do I know you are the expert
AmazingDanger as far as i know some company imported them without paying taxes or something and usa just decided that the cars were at fault and they were deemed unsafe for usa roads.
Depending on the state it legal, federally however it illegal, the car has to be 25 years to be imported, they ether imported it from Canada or they shipped the car in parts and registered as a kit car, also there number of skylines GTRs that were imported by motorex, before they got in trouble with the government.
Maybe you already answered these questions, but I'd like to ask anyways. (1) If it's of age, can you get historical tags for it, to bypass emissions and inspections? (2) Can you get the vin number registered in the states if it's a direct import such as this? (3) Is it complicated to get insurance on a direct import? (4) Is there an added/extra tax to having a car imported? And despite a previous question, can it pass a state inspection?

I know, right??? He couldn't answer it with a simple "Yes" but instead gives a shady "It's state titled and insured" response. How does that mean it's legal?? The owner is going to be in for a real surprise when ICE comes knocking on his door...
Tom Kaos (Official) glad to see someone else caught that. I'm not 100% convinced this is a "show or display" import.
+ColoradoNative Partly, if the obd was changed and it was modified for Epa etc etc.. yea. But that guy didnt seem too confident with his answer.
Tom Kaos (Official) unless it's an ex motorex car or one of the v spec r34 that's legal under the show and display then it's not legal. Seems to be neither. They'll get caught eventually
I love the RB motors...they have such a unique angry sound. Had an R32 gtst while I was in Japan...miss that car.
Is first and second near or far from the driver on a RHD?
+Car Central Media same as USA cars, so far!
Adam LZ *OMFG I SAW THIS GTR GOING TO THE REAL STREET SUPRA MEET TODAY!! ADAM I'VE BEEN SEEING YOU ALL OVER THE PLACE RECENTLY*
They never change the gear pattern, not on any car/brand. No company would waste their time and money on making 2 identical gearboxes with the only difference being the gear pattern...
However blinker & highbeam / wipers & fluid switches are swapped around, as well as the seating position obviously.
Joshua DeMarco we didn't go to real street today
Do you have a beard?
im so jealous nissan skyline gtr r34 is my dream car that blue one made my jaw drop
I have an R33 here in Italy,500 hp,4wd,i bought this car for only 12.000 €,it's very special, and the sound it's AMAZING. 0-60 mph in 3 seconds
Everyone from a foreign country, please tell us about how you have R34 Skylines in your country.
I've only seen three R34s in my country so far(A black one and two blue ones)
i see them everyday, along with 32s, 33's as well. Repping from nz
Bonson Pylon same I see them constantly they get boring overtime from Australia
All I can say is STRAYA!!!!
Bonson Pylon they are everywhere in Australia I see at least a couple a day but I don't really care, I only get excited when I see a v spec
It's weird how excited Americans get about R34 GTR's.
75k????? They are 20 here
20k?!?!?! like 50 k for an average one and 75k plus for a good one over here... you must be in england.
a gtr is not even 20 in japan
zEsitos Ireland
Terry Dolan I call bullshit.
You made it, Adam, fun to watch your dream come true
R34 in gtr in blue in Australia right now are minimum $50k and only going up not down in price
where are you finding a r34 for 50k in aus? ahaha
Plz drive that car on 192 going towards Melbourne
you can floor it as much as u like
that would be great I stay right next to the osceola square mall lol
looks sick asf! and those blue touches on the rims are amazing
This R34 is in Michigan btw. Going down Woodward Dream Cruise there is a chance you can see one. A year ago there was a another R34 that made it in the USA and guess where that is too... Michigan. So basically if anyone wanted to see this in person then come here
+Ryan Savage it's in Florida lol
Adam LZ Is there one in Florida too? My cousin is huge into R34's and he told me the only 2 are in Michigan
Adam LZ
Ryan Savage how much does a skyline cost
Terrique Knight A new Skyline R34 would cost around $70,000 then you would have all of the expenses that come with getting it into the USA (and the R34 wouldn't be stock at that price)
Notification squad!!!!
Winfred Burney yeee
SQUAAAAAAAD
Got about a million of them per car meet over here in the UK, they're absolutely stunning beats of a car!!
75k for a r 34 there's plenty in Canada for 15k to upwards on 50k
Not a gtr . That's what hes talking about., not gt25 and gtt
Ben Chesterman GTRs are like 50K used. GT-S GTT are cheap as fuck.
10 - 25 k in Australia . R34 gtr 70k
Cheapest r34 gtr in japan is 5,500,000 yen . Which is above 50 k
Ben Chesterman there's multiple listed right now for well below 50k in my area
Adam you should build/buy a 65-68 mustang with a RB26DETT engine, that would be way more unique than an R34 Skyline itself....."There's no 'wax on wax off' with drifting. You learn by doing it. The first drifters invented drifting out here in the mountains by feeling it. So feel it."- Han
Nissan skyline gtr r32-r33 and the r34 are some of my favourite cars
Roman atwood's reppin the lz 240 t shirt in his latest vlog bro
What does the sticker on the drivers window say? 🤔
"Let me guess..."
Oh, license and registration 😂
Bond remember me bond from boris
Bond or jev or any other TH-camr we both watch. I love your channel but please stop self promoting
It says "my name is bond and I am promoting my shit channel"
i've only seen one R34 in person and two R33s and they were all in germany. the R33s were on two different bases and the R34 was in the parking lot at the Nurburgring track entrance (there was also an R35 nismo there as well). Definitely all beautiful cars and a huge shame we never got them here and are limited to the 25 year rule, but at least we can get the R32 and all the skylines before it, they're popping up everywhere now here in utah lol
Dude no way I've heard about Black Ops Performance can't wait to go and get my self an R34 driving that beast around West Palm Beach Florida
The cheap west place to buy r34 gtr is New Zealand and japan .Every were else 50 k up
I don't think that guy didn't like Adam
just by hearing the exhaust note is already awesome and super dope! let alone driving it personally like damnn!!
This the only import car I would buy
Valdemar Vera nsx?
Jose Peralta Nsx isn't really import since its made in the USA
TheStuntdude12 no It's not, it's a Japanese car but for the US it's made by acura, hondas us division, to save money
lol. the nsx is not made in the states, get a honda nsx or dont get one, acura is just the usa version it isnt import
Speciaalist lol theres a honda plant in ohio producing them now
Its funny in australia you see r32,r33 and r34 skylines every day but gtr r35's are so rare in Australia 😂😭😂
Good! R35 is shit and will never be an Skyline GTR :)
gaudelio25 No!! R35 is way better
Ned Foster ikr I live in Australia too
R35 are computer game
australia.. land of skyline
I love how even in 2016 you were still wanting a GT3, look at you now with it
such a common car over here in the UK
ash bandicoot
you guys are so lucky, people over here can only dream of driving one sadly
Why are they illegal in the USA anyways? Over here they are just considered a 'normal' car.
they didnt pass safety regulations at the time, but there is a law called the "25 year rule" basically meaning you can register the car legally in the us until the car is 25 years old. So in 2023 the r34 will become legal
Ah I seeeee. What did it fail on?
its not just safety, due to world war 2 soldiers bringing cars back over from germany and uk al that stuff, like mercerdes, and all those, you could get them for super cheap, and bring it over for a lot less than what you could get it here, its gray market cars, the 25 year rule is so we dont ruin the car market here stateside, you can go pick up (in japan) a well maintained 2006 honda accord for about 3k, over here they are what? 9k? so its not just safety, its due to the market of vehicles.
Roman Atwood was wearing your shirt
3:55 "Can I get on it in first?" *Matt immediately plants head to headrest*
ILL CRY OF HAPPYNESS IF U BUY AN R34 Im not lying!

Daniyal S. how? I want too
Daniyal S. lol, I do the same every time I ride passenger
Just get someone else to drive your car while you shift for them haha, me and my friends do it all the time.
Not soon enough.
That DoLuck car has been in the states for quite some time. I remember seeing it over 10 years ago at Sound Performance here in Illinois. I'm pretty surprised how clean it is still. However, I may be totally wrong and this is just another blue R34 with the same kit...doubt it though.
shoulda put the GoPro on the outside of the car so we can actually see the thing drive rather than you lmaoooo
Lets all go watch 2 fast 2 furious now
Just a black guy oh man let’s go back to the early 2000s.

when i was austria there was r31 gts-r that car was epic and i live finland we dont have any rx3 or 31 skyline i just loving supra 2jz tt cost 25k black 6speed orginal
It has a Do Luck aerokit on but that doesn't mean it is 'the' Do Luck car coz it's isn't.
+Eu Jin Chan it is
Rekt
The Do Luck car is in a shade of baby blue.
The car was built by the look as a show car to promote their products in Japan. it was purchased by them new in 1999 and kept until 2007. At which time it went to a private collector in Japan. the baby blue car I believe you're talking about is also known as the Dino car. Videos of that car and build can be seen on TH-cam as well
+Adam LZ well you got roasted since Scid34 just puffed out the truth
"it makes noises from the movie, it's like real life"
you're in real life bruh
this Nissan skyline GTR has an awesome turbo sound 👌
Wtf 75,000 in the US? Here in Australia you can pick them up for as low as 45,000 AUD which is roughly 32,000 USD.
Fucking beautiful
I WANT ONE
I will love to get one.
Mr.fox fanboys
Bmw M3 e46 they aren't fanboys if they're old gtr who said you can't he a fan of a car you'll be able to afford when it's legal
adam LZ its an 4wd sport sends more power to the rear and a little to the front
Did he just pee on the car? 4:46 bro look on his Fucking pants bro hahaha so freacking funny.
Sometimes I wonder if americans would be this excited if a supra or an nsx was illegal like te r34
Iceman7 Probably lol I about lost it when I saw an R32 They're so rare that's why lol that R32 is the only skyline I've seen in my entire life
Here in Canada its legal. I've seen the R32/33/34.
flightjam here in Australia we have thousands of the things
flightjam there's a import ban unless its over 26 years old then you can have it
Iceman7 it's not that it's illegal that makes it cool. it's the fact that we never got them here period. where as damn near every other cool jdm came here just in left hand drive with different engines in some. if rx-7, NSX, supra, or silvias were never here then that would get just as much hype. a lot of people like the s15 silvia since it always was never here. that's the reasoning behind all the love plus the skyline is legendary
Screw the Skyline, 0:24 Is that a damn Toyota bB Open Deck? On American Soil? Wild.
That dude did not fell like conversating
When will they be legal?
Blomberg - Template Editor 2024
Blomberg - Template Editor dont worry daddy trump will take care of us
Rmaul246 cheers babe
Im saving for one atm, still 30k€ to go. Gotta get the rest, before it comes legal in U.S

Adam LZ damn adam you just ended him
hmg2410 lol Damm right he did 😱😱😱😱😱
I guarantee you my turbo rotary sounds different than this turbo I6 which also sounds different than my friends turbo v8, but what do I know you are the expert
Garcia Vega the "POP" 😔
Thought GT-R R34s were illegal in America....
AmazingDanger they are.
AmazingDanger this is just state legal in florida ive heard but its a danger it could be crushed.
Kanggoo thanks. Do you know by any chance why they're illegal? cause I might know but I could be wrong.
AmazingDanger as far as i know some company imported them without paying taxes or something and usa just decided that the cars were at fault
and they were deemed unsafe for usa roads.
Ahh. Yeah. I heard that it was because theyre too fast for police cars or something like that. Thanks though. :)
Dude your drifting skills are really good 👌👌👌
楽しそう‼️
I'm moving to Canada in a couple months so I can drive my new R34. Also cause it's where my new job is 😂😂😂
Yung Swoozy good luck on insurance. everything is so expensive here especially cars
That looks like a hell of a fun car! Congrats on your experience driving it!!!
So how did they make this R34 legal?
its not
About 15 in the whole of the us are legal but good luck getting one of them XD
Depending on the state it legal, federally however it illegal, the car has to be 25 years to be imported, they ether imported it from Canada or they shipped the car in parts and registered as a kit car, also there number of skylines GTRs that were imported by motorex, before they got in trouble with the government.
Definitely not imported from Canada
Y'all dumb haha they can import them as a show car that means it can me any year but it can't exceed certain amount of miles
What is the song called on 0:30
Anyone?
Man not hot
Cummo
Maybe you already answered these questions, but I'd like to ask anyways.
(1) If it's of age, can you get historical tags for it, to bypass emissions and inspections?
(2) Can you get the vin number registered in the states if it's a direct import such as this?
(3) Is it complicated to get insurance on a direct import?
(4) Is there an added/extra tax to having a car imported? And despite a previous question, can it pass a state inspection?
dafuq in germany a r34 costs 10k in a good condition
high demand in USA
TrollMaster300 illegal in USA
gtr you dumbass, not a gtt or gts. they are still like 25-30k british pounds(which i guess arent worth as much now huh... brexit hahahah)
kaneda33 British pounds? Irrelevant. Freedom dollars are what matter.
UK 99 r34 gtr £45000 pounds. Which is $60000 USA
beautiful fucken car 😍😍😍 I think it looks better than the supra
Antonio Hernandez is that an opinion i just saw? idgaf
ummm wait sorry bro I ran out of fucks to give
i see them everyday but just seeing them makes me want one even more
What's the song you used at 40 seconds in?
