You were literally pulling yourself up by the bootstrap there Blake! A great workout that I am not sure I'll try soon, but if I do, I'll know what to use! Always enjoy your videos.
Lots of Goeducks around my place but they are never open for harvesting. We used to dig them by hand when I was a kid, I do remember getting a few but not that many.
I wish I had known you needed that tube fabricated while I was still in WA. As a retired master machinist, tool and die maker, and welder, I SURE could have fabricated one for you.
The sediment last weekend where I was digging in Oregon for softshells was so soft that a bucket like that would have been a blessing. I think that I need to make one with a bucket that I've been hanging onto for years with a busted out bottom.
Where you live Garron I'd be pretty shocked if they weren't. And the sediment is so much harder packed in Hood Canal compared to where I was in south sound, you could probably just use a postholer! (Much easier)
Hi Blake, fyi I’ve just gone back and watched all your salmon videos. Now I’m totally ready and excited for salmon season!, hoping this year to get my first king in puget sound!
they have a sweet mild flavor. I like to slice them in thin strips and fry them in a dab of butter and a little garlic. In the pan for maybe 30 seconds.
Haha I've tried this before. It did not work too well for the deeper one and broke under pressure after a couple of time. Now I use those big aluminum trash that I got from mclendons for about $40.
Let's go!!!! Missed your videos bro! And nice "Blake here", lol
thanks as always MLG from the 206!

ha ha, thanks as always Wojomojo! Aquasocks would definitely be better out there. Brought me back to getting stuck in the mud as a kid!

Thanks Mike! Charles there was shovel digging with no barrier. Can be done but a lotttt of work. Too much for me, ha ha.
You handled it well, master
thank you as always Bashi! 🙏

that would have been awesome!! hard to find anyone willing to make one. At least not for less than an arm and a leg.

sweet, thanks Jarom M! I'll keep this in mind when I get after softshells.
I use spiral duct with a band of heavier metal around the top. I drilled 2 large holes in the band and put 1 inch emt through to help to twist it in.
great idea Brian! thanks for sharing!
Dirty work. But you got your limit. Did you get a new camera? 👍
Nope! Well, that's an old one anyway. It's an oldie but a goodie!
@@WAFishQuest Oh it just seemed like you weren't looking in the same direction as you usually do.
This is still on my bucket list. I feel like they should be in the bay, especially since there are tons of horse clams!

Very nice video keep it up Blake this is Awesome!!!!!😃👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Try a thin strip of metal bent to fit around the bottom of the bucket, then add upright braces along the sides stiffen the side walls.
great idea Neal! Maybe i'll try that next year! That said, I was pleased with how little it did bend.
Sweet!!!!
... like geoduck meat! 😎

I hope you get em Patricia!! Thank you!
How did they taste? Do you have a favorite recipe for them?

Nice catch
Thanks!
I hope to see more videos like this it’s fun!!!!!🤩
What about a 25 gal metal container.? Wonder if that would work
I suspect approx 5 times better! :P

thanks Khan! Good to know. Maybe I'll save this for the horsies... or at least bring a backup!
I would look for a used 16 gallon drum barrel and cut the bottom off by flat grinding the seem that way you get a sharp edge on the bottom
Great idea Daryk! Maybe for part 2 or 3!
Blake, why don't you text me some of those geoduck tube dimensions, I will see what I can do and maybe I can replicate it in the Fab shop at work.
thanks Brian! You got it. Approx bucket-sized I suppose.
@@WAFishQuest let me see what I can do!
Digging under water, that's like bailing a boat that has sunk below the surface! You know, they make heavy guage 6 gallon buckets.
I think i am going to try one of those Ron! to your point, I was lucky it was a little one. Still kind of surprised I got it!
dig a duck a day....
Ha ha ha! He he he! (if i recall the chorus correctly).
This is reckless dude ! ALWAYS CUT WITH YOUR BLADE FACING YOUR COWORKER !!!
cutting a circle is tough... it was (when I didn't move my hand soon enough) coming right at me! 🤙
Looks like q pidock
I hear you on #3! that siphon looked almost split.
