The cut out on the front strap was a leftover from the military contract model. Before you laugh at it remember that magazines get stuck when they're covered in sand and dirt. So an opening to help pull them out of the magwell is necessary. I realize there was no need to leave it on the civilian model but that's why it was there.
Yes I bought this a few months back and there is a definitive difference for sure between the gen 4 and the gen 5 mos trigger an the gun itself over all, very sweet gun, definitely one I'll never get rid of. Great vid👍🇺🇸
I only had to adjust my Holosun 9 clicks up and 7 right. Zeroed it at 7 yards with half a mag. Adjusted it for 20 yards with 4 more shots. Great tight groups. This thing has the best stock Glock trigger in the history of mankind. They may just achieve that “Perfection” in another generation or two!
Looks like that pistol can "go to work" for home defense for sure. Glock is starting to pay much more attention to their customers, and I do not own the Gen 5.... for the concerns that you covered, but I do love my 2 Glock 19X Pistols. Great Video Justin! Beretta Sr
I hate to use a term like "best Glock ever made", but that is my thought on this one. If I could own just one Glock.... (wait, that might be better saved for the title of a video!)
Felipe Ramirez Hi Sir, I just wanted to say that the Glocks will last for 30 years or more, and I have head there are some problems with the CZ pistols after a couple years of shooting. Either Glock is a long term winner, I am not a MOS shooter, but if you are that's your pistol. If you not a MOS shooter then the Glock 45 or 19X are my top picks. Beretta Sr.
I have a gen 2 glock, still works flawlessly.Thought I wouldn’t be interested in another glock, but this one is nice. Trigger seems super improved. Thx for the video.
I purchased one Friday and love it. Glock corrected the things that I didn't like about the gen 5 19 and I will be ordering an RMR on Monday. Now if Glock will just start shipping with their kit the correct length screws for the RMR.
Glock changed the design of the breach face which lends to a better more positive ejection. That’s why your seeing a “stronger” ejection pattern. They did it with all the Gen 5 models. Two thumbs up for that!!
A while back I went to the shop fully planning on getting a gen 5 G19, That cutout bothered me so much i bought the G17 instead. The cutout is far enough down it doesn't bother me and its a great shooter but after seeing this I really want this version.
My perfect Glock...the 19mos frame with the trigger guard and paddle releases of the VP9 and the slide of the G45. That would be Glock Perfection for ME.
I like the front serrations, but make sure you keep your trigger finger out of the trigger guard when using them & keep your off hand fingers well clear of the muzzle. A certain member of my military unit only has 9 fingers now from using front serrations & he was by means inexperienced, just rushed & in the fog of war.
I’m very glad they took out that mag-strip hole. And the MOS option is a great move forward. All they need to do now is get rid of The Glock Knuckle and after that they can keep the same design for another 20 years 👍
Just purchased a 507C, I have a G19 MOS and I am being told the plates that come with the pistol wont hold up. Should I get a more sturdy aftermarket plate option for this optic?
That's exactly how the Gen5 should have been from the first day. I think i'll take the G17MOS and buy also G34 slide to get another option. Thx Justin for another great video
Picked mine up this week. I'm going with the Vortex Venom on mine. I typically run Talons on my Glocks, but i love this grip texture. May just leave the Talon off this one. Good video. Keep em coming!

It’s about time glock got it right ! home run glock . No need for a lot of after market improvement. Not even sure it needs talon installed. Just my opinion lol! My gen 4 has been a great performance piece but it’s finding a new home , after 😎10,000 flawless rounds .
When (if...) Glock decides to make it in 40S&W, it will be the perfect EDC for me... in the mean time my G23 gen3 Slide milled RMR will have to do. :>)
Great video. I thought about this model for myself. Still undecided. One thing to note: If you hit the white flapper with a .40, it would swing over every single time with ease. Feel free to hate on the .40, but that’s a fact.

What do you mean the gen 5 mag isn't backward compadable to gen 4? The only issue is with the 17 gen 5 mags in a 19x. Gen 5 mags work in prior generations.

So that cutout. When they flared the magazine well on the Gen 5 they removed the ability to pinch the magazines on the side to strip the magazine. Why you'd want to strip a magazine would include a failure to extract where the next round feeds against the empty case. You have to strip the magazine to clear the malfunction. Since you can't really grip the magazines on the side anymore, the cutout (which existed on earlier Glocks) allows you to get some leverage when coupled with the extended baseplates on Gen 5 magazines. So thumb up in the gap at the back of the frame and index finger up in the cutout to strip the magazine (I make my index finger into a hook shape and rest it on the lip of the baseplate). By removing the cutout you're now left with hoping you can hook your index finger on the extended baseplate. I've tried it and it sort of works, but since the baseplates don't extend passed the frontstrap it doesn't seem super reliable. The cutout also gave you the ability to hook the magazine on something if you were clearing the above malfunction one handed. So Glock listened to the customers, but I'm not sure the customers thought this through. I'd argue you never needed the flaring in the first place. Glock magwells have always had a bevel inside and the magazines are tapered. The angle at which you have to insert the magazine to have it not insert on a Glock without the flared magwell is extreme. Justin; Glock has already made some sample "Gen 5" guns in 40 S&W for the Brazilians; I do not know if they got a contract but pictures of several of the samples have made it onto social media. A 2 pin with 40 S&W is possible.
Can’t find one yet. Gun shops are pushing their old inventory. I can get a Gen 4 G19 or G17 or a Gen 5 with the undercut hole. But the Gen 5 G19 or G17 MOS FS nowhere to be found. I guess I’ll have to wait
I'm definitely in for a G45, that said, GLOCK could really start undercutting the trigger-guard, not that we can't do that ourselves but still. Good little handgun and the trigger is definitely better on the Gen5 than the Gen4, pleased they got rid of the front-strap relief cut for stripping magazines.
I think this is perfection, perfect grip, perfect slide, and improved trigger. what are they going to do with the gen 6 now? I shot many glocks but I personally don't own any glock for the sake of not owning one. However the MOS FS is so good its hard to resist.
I like the MOS, but I really think it's annoying they don't make the G45 in MOS but they make both the G17 gen 4 and 5 in MOS and G34 in three variant.. really...
I once had that problem, but my dept's instructor told me I had too much finger on the trigger. As I pulled trigger, I also pulled the muzzle in same direction. Try using your finger tip ( finger print area). You probably will return to center.
I had wondered what all the reviews I saw were talking about. I bought one of these used, and really had no idea what it was. I just knew MINE had front serrations. Mine didn't have a big cutout on the grip frame. And what's this little line on the top with the two screws all about? Can you tell I don't know much about Glocks?
Actually... putting your finger on the front of the trigger guard is the RIGHT WAY instead of shooting wrong... helps with RECOIL... along with whatever else
