Yuki and Machi have so many similarities in the darkness they’ve experienced and how they don’t wanna open up fast to anyone..I’m dying to see them together😭
1:20 Yuki cares more of what Machi thinks of him more than anyone. He's clearly so attracted to her. I find it sweet that their story is about two lonely people learning to love themselves and each other. They've lost, got disowned by their parents, and are broken. They'd make an unbreakable couple with their two broken hearts mended together, for sure.
Yuki was gradually healing... He had a better picture of what's going on, everything about him and around him... Than before... He was yet lonely, but his new role in school helped him meet people he can finally be himself... He still looks perfect in front of Tohru (even while venting) but he is the most vulnerable in front of Manabe (they get angry at each other, show weakness, then make up and laugh, joke, sarcasm) and shows interest in Machi, what colour she likes, what places she wants to go, and then he looked genuinely happy by the thought of someone who'd look for him of all people ! He got all the attentions from thirsty girl yet he was lonely... But just Machi's attention makes him so happy ! They've suffered the same so they both will understand each other's pain the most ! One is already healing, one finally found someone to heal her... Truly best ship.... All the canon ships are best imo (my person favourite is Kureno × Arisa , love at first sight, simple, yet so pure !)
I always thought that moment was more along the lines of Yuki not liking the idea of being an airhead

Tbh, I realized that machi would be his love interest, I was like: “she’s so dull tho.” But then I realize that was the main focus of her personality and I felt so bad, when I heard her back story and yuki and machi were falling in love, I suddenly changed to: “Yes. Definitely. 10/10 ship, wouldn’t exchange it for anything else.”
Seeing how much Yuki’s character has grown really puts me in my feels. Pls I love him 🥺

They're so cute together. They both suffered from not being allowed to develop into their own person (Yuki being Akito's 'pet' and Machi being pressured with perfection), but are now learning that they can become individuals and have their own likes and opinions not based on others making them.
Machi can see right through Yuki without even having to know him. They’re adorable

0:33 Wow, I didn't know the dub translated this line like this... In Japanese (as well as in the manga and sub translations), Yuki starts his response by saying, "Doesn't saying you won't do it again just put more pressure on yourself?" The way the dub phrases it sounds more as if he's saying "just saying you won't do it again isn't good enough, we don't trust you and you have to justify yourself to us." The delivery is still soft but the words feel like he's piling more pressure on her instead of trying to alleviate it. It's frustrating to know this is the only version of this scene a lot of people have been exposed to.
i love them both so much. they both saw each other for who they truly are. Machi saw Yuki differently to how other people saw him. others thought he was cool, princely and perfect. Machi got to know him and formed her own opinion on him. she thinks he’s weird, an airhead, not princely and seems lonely.
Yuki didn’t really ever express his opinions on her much at all other than that she is quiet and strange. Only when Machi open up to him about her past and how she feels about perfection, Yuki gets to see who she truly is. other people saw Machi as a weirdo, a delinquent who destroys things, an attention seeker and a very dull girl. I don’t know how Yuki saw Machi but I would think he sees her as a hard worker, cute, kind, empathetic and a little awkward.
But the point is, i love them. they are so perfect for eachother!! 🥰🥰🥰

To be honest, I am having difficulties in shipping them because I ship Yuki and Tohru so bad since the start. And Yuki saying that what he felt for Tohru is just "like a love for a mother" seems lacking for me. It feels like it is forced. I am happy to Yuki for having a happy ending but it's still hard to get off from my ship so I'll just sank with it.
for some reason I've never shipped yuki and tohru...i thought he was really kind to her but as soon as i saw how kyo softened around tohru i just paid attention to them lol
I have that same feeling. I think I would have liked to see him remain single, but happy and content with his life full of friends and maybe find love down the road. It feels too soon from me shipping him with Tohru to have him start a relationship with another character. I agree the "mother-son" relationship felt forced. Romantic feelings can fade with time, so I think I would have liked to see that instead.

uhh it actually wasnt forced. With tohru and yuki, the motherly figure was quite accurate. Compared to machi, machi understood his hidden features such as loneliness and other imperfections. The ways he even smiled whether they were empty or full of happiness. Tohru acted like a mother to him, caring for yuki and treating anyone equally. But yuki admired how much more was in machi. they developed each other well, even machi became a little more honest and cared for compared to her parents because of him. They both saw the best in each other, which was why the ship sailed :3 and kyo went with tohru for one of the same reasons.
*sigh* if you observe enough, you'll see that it's not forced. In the beginning, when he intentionally flirted with Tohru, his eyes looked distant. Similar in a way he looked at his fans. He always tolerate what his fans ask him to do because he didn't want to be left alone like his parents.
He wasn't true to himself when he flirted with Tohru. He soon realized that after seeing the difference of Kyo's affection for her from him. That's when he reflected that the warmth he received from Tohru was indeed like a mother's. When he finally decided to become true to himself and treat her the way he wants it to be- like a mother, he felt better. This improved the nausea feeling inside him and felt so refreshed. (S2 ep22)

Compare the way he treats Machi and the way he treats Tohru. Especially in 1:03 he clearly values what Machi thinks of him more than anyone. He's always attentive towards her and even wished to share his secret to her. THE soma's dark secret, wow 🤯
I think most of you Yukiru shippers tend to overlook the details on how clearly Yuki is in love with Machi, not Tohru because most of you are just stubborn and jealous ass haters of Machi.

Because they got the same voice actor from the anime adaption from the early 2000s. I love his voice, though. If you want to hear him when he was younger just watch the original series.
