Really enjoyed this! I had my first visit in April this year and the smells absolutely made the experience fully immersive :) Happy belated 30th Birthday!!
Loved this! Never really thought about smell effectiveness. But in other parks where they dont. I really miss it. Efteling and toverland have spoiled me
@@Pevalwen they are still adding things in the newer rides. The park opened in 2001 and in 2018 opened its largest expansion and first semi-darkride "merlins quest" and that one has a real focus on the smells. Otherwise the places with food smell great. During halloween i think they also add scents to the haunted hauses
Great video Liam! the incorporation of scent in the park goes far beyond what I expected, I think it's just brilliant that they sell the scents as room sprays in the gift shops. I'm really happy to hear Efteling has set up designated smoking areas. When I visited Europa Park last October, the amount of cigarette smoke outside was nauseating! Me and Aaron and I had to wait in lines for rides we didn't even want to go on just to get some fresh air. I was planning on going to Efteling soon but perhaps I'll wait until the Hansel and Gretel Cottage has been rebuilt. How many days do you recommend for visiting Efteling?

The smoking areas do seem to have made a significant difference, although Efteling is so open that smoking wasn't much of an issue to begin with (I saw people doing it more than smelt them). I've been wondering about going to Europa-Park! Was it easy enough to get to? It seems like a bit of a trip. And yes, maybe visit Efteling when Hansel and Gretel, and Danse Macabre are both open! They have a "what's closed" list on the website. As long as you don't go on a busy day, two days are ideal so that you can do the main things on the first day, then the leftovers and re-rides on the second day. 😊
@@Pevalwen I shall keep an eye on it thanks! Europa park isn't too bad to get to, you land in France, exit the airport into Switzerland and then take a train into Germany. I'll send you the details on messenger if you're interested. It's a gorgeous theme park! it's where I got engaged, the park is quite large and has a fabulous new water park, it has a lot of big thrill rides but it also has a much smaller Fairy tale section and a cracking dark ride "Pirates in Batavia" that I think you'll enjoy. Eventually I'll upload my holiday video to TH-cam
Yes, that's a good one! I did actually record a clip about the humid smell in there but I didn't include it in the video. It's a lifelike atmosphere! 💮
@@Pevalwenthat smell brings me back to being a 3 years old, looking fascinated at those dancing dolls and joining them. To this day it still is my favorite fairytaile, almost 40 years later.
I have no memory of smells and tastes, the stuff just doesn't register unless I experience it at that moment. For people to then go to the Efteling and do a whole smell review is just wild to me. I mean I see these foodie cuisine types doing it for food, but half the time that stuff just feels like an excuse to eat till they're clogged up. There is no risk of such motives here. Interesting stuff then, enjoyed the video.

Actually I went down this Efteling rabbit hole because I'm sick and the Efteling makes me happy somehow, so yeah if you do get clogged up that would make two of us. Also I'm Dutch, so I'm sort of spiritually clogged up anyway, I mean considering the footwear my ancestors came up with etc. Hard to shake that off.
aw man i can't believe the smells weren't working on dreamflight! 💔 i don't know if you looked in dreamflight gift shop but i think they sometimes sell the scent as a perfume? im glad you finally managed to ride it at least! ☺️

Yes, I got the spray! It's not so bad that the ride didn't have the scent on, as it gives me something to look forward to for future visits. 😛
