Efteling employee here! And I justed wanted to rant
1. Baron oddly fits the Efteling formula, we use muted blue and yellow along with dark red for all our theming.
2. The reason Efteling is so pretty is because it is officially a nature park!
3. The essence of Efteling is definitely nostalgia. The park is 72 years old and people have been going there for generations. You go there with your grandparents and they tell you how they had their first date there, how the park has changed since and how we actually used to have a pool. Your parents will tell you Python what the it coaster of it's time, everyone just had to go there! You would open your picture book and see everyone grow up on the toadstools. You look at Max and Moritz and the building it's in and remember how BOB would leave you beaten and bruised and how much fun it was. You walk past Vogelrok and remember it as your first coaster. We all make jokes about how no one wants to go in Pirana because you WILL get soaked, and yet we go anyway.
4. This goes for all employees aswell. We love the park, it's our childhood. Some of the tech team today used to work with Pieck. We all grew up here and are now able to give that childhood joy to others. One guest told me "I'm sorry I'm acting like a child, it's dumb" to which I said "not at all! This is Efteling, everyone here gets to be a kid again!" We want you to feel that giddy joy and to make great memories. That's why we love our jobs and it lifts the mood of the whole park
Thank you for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it!
I know it’s a little off topic but I work at an arts and crafts store and people apologize for acting like a kid very often! I usually reply with “well we adults are just big kids!” That always puts a smile on my face
@@froufroudeluxe What is adulthood if not the freedom to be a child when we want to.
@jeroenstolp9889 can i quote that?
@@thebugthatruinsyourpicnic sure lol
There is no way a Dutchman won't enjoy this loveletter to one of our country's absolute national treasures
I love that you call yourselves Dutchies too! Thank you for watching!!
I am old, and was told 'bed time stories'. When I first visited the Efteling those stories came to live. I could see them while awake! The world of my childhood dreams was there. But the Efteling leaves room to fill the gaps, your own fantasy, the way you want it to be. That makes this park unique!
That’s a really lovely way of looking at it
Yeah, definitely! Every attraction has a story, but nowhere is it told in full. De Efteling doesn’t tell you what to think, what to feel. It gives some snippets of information and you can explore on your own, imagine your own stories around the attractions. I loved going there as a kid. It truly felt like being in a dream.
As a dutchie i just want to thank you for this video. It's an amazing tribute to a park I love dearly.
Thank you so much! ☺️
I completely agree!

It's so hard to capture the Efteling's off-beat charm and essence but you've done so magnificently here. What a gorgeous video, well worth the wait!!
Hey.. you the guy that made that video about dreamflight.
Thanks for support as always Mike! 🎉
@@ToldYouSo18 That's me! 👋
Agree
This video is excellent
What an amazing video. Often when i see videos of foreigners in De Efteling they always say it's a great and amazing park but i always feel they do not really feel nor understand the essence of De Efteling. They don't really understand the nostalgia Dutch people have with this park (94% of all Dutchies have been there at least once in their lifetime according to research). It is literally ingrained in the Dutch culture. But you are different, you absolutely DO understand what Efteling is about. Almost like you've been going to the park since childhood.
Thank you DJ, you that is such an honour 🥹
Do you have a source for the 94%? It sounds like an extremely high number. Amazing if it's actually realistic though.
It certainly looks like the park deserves all the praise and attendance it gets, worldclass park.
@@peterhallman9614 There's multiple sources but they're in Dutch. And when i look at my personal experience in it i can definitely confirm it's true and i'm pretty sure almost all Dutchies will tell you so. In my daily life i barely meet anyone who has NOT been to Efteling. Whenever the subject Efteling comes across everybody always starts telling their nostalgic stories. The most funny thing to me on Facebook is that a lot of my Dutch friends have that one photo of themselves when they were little, or of their own children, sitting on one of the many typical red and white musical mushrooms. It's not even a tradition that's been done on purpose. It just somehow happens because to children they're so inviting to sit on. It's crazy to me that i've seen 60 year old photo's of that phenomenon and it still happens to this day. I can actually see my own photo of little me sitting on a mushroom hanging on my wall when i look to my right while typing this.
This is so true, The Efteling just has a special place in everyone’s heart. (And yes, i’m a dutchie.) everyone loves it. Well, almost everyone. I go here for my birthday since i was very young. I just wanted to share this, bye bye fellow person reading this! Have a good day.
Okay this dude might only have 595 subscribers but it's one of the most impressive videos i've seen of the Efteling. Props to you!
Thanks dude! It was a labour of love to make. I'm sure the subs will come one day hahahah (I hope)
He gained 337 so far! This excellent and professional production may have helped a lot.
Passed the 1K! :D
He definitely deserves many more!!
Oh my goodness.
The storytelling, the camerawork, the editing, the sound design-this is all beyond wonderful!
That story about the passport actually made me tear up-a lot of this did. The way you set up each attraction captured something really special, but then also letting the park speak for itself too. And describing Dream Flight as a dream was so beautiful.
You should be incredibly proud of this. I can’t even describe how phenomenal this is. Well done!
Thanks Matt, I really appreciate this! I really hope you get to ho here one day, I can only imagine how inspired you would be after a visit
@@WorldofThrills I hope so too! I've been avoiding spoilers for the rides all these years, but I couldn't resist with this. Symbolica got the best of me here. 😭
literally almost crying at the passport section. it really is a special place.
One of the things I think that make the Efteling special too, at least for me as a child, is the slight fear factor. Especially in the older parts like the Fairytale Forest, I always felt a little fearful and on-edge in certain parts, but in a wondrous way, much like how the characters in the fairytales would feel themselves. It allows kids to face their fears and be brave in a safe way. I don’t think the Efteling tries to scare kids on purpose, but it still works as a fantastic contrast to the overly sanitized and bright, colorful, consumer-pandering feel that some other theme parks sometimes have
Oh totally! Especially when you think of something like Spooksbro, that’s a seriously dark story
Enchantment. Both Pieck and Ton van de Ven knew how to evoke that. Adding that Baron is very much evocative of Limburg mining culture, now gone, since the mines closed in the 1970s.
Like so many Dutch said already, you really managed to capture what this themepark means to all of us. It's kind of ingrained in our DNA and passed on from generation to generation. I love this park ❤
Aww thank you! It really is such a special place 🥰
Anton Pieck was so dedicated to his art, that already showed when he was just 3 years old, he was crying while looking out of the window in his house, and his mother asked "what's wrong?" to which he replied "I can't draw the rain".
Why am I not surprised 😳
I am a VERY big Efteling fan for years (as a Dutch person of course), and I often see a lot of people who mostly aren’t Dutch saying this park is a “scary” version of Disney which I find super disappointing to hear. But you capture the best and most beautiful parts that people tend to ignore. I absolutely love this video and you did an amazing job!!! I’m definitely showing all my friends this 💙💙
Oh thank you! I hope they enjoy it too ☺️
Which isnt really true disney is the watered down version
"I often see a lot of people who mostly aren’t Dutch saying this park is a “scary” version of Disney" this is because a lot of foreigners (mainly Americans) are not familiar with the fairy tales. Many fairy tales in Efteling were written by the famous European writers Hans Christian Andersen, the Brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault. That's probably why the misunderstanding. Plus the Efteling does not have English spoken text at some attractions because this is very difficult in addition to spoken Dutch at the same time.
I agree. Efteling isn't a scary version of Disney. First of all because it's not scary. And secondly because it's not a version of any other park, it's entirely its own thing. It's not based around movies or cartoons or comic books, it's just based around the theme of Wonder. Which may include magic, exotic places, nostalgia, thrills, humour, beauty, anything really. All fitting within this hard to define style that keeps the whole thing together and makes it uniquely Efteling. @WorldofThrills You do "get" this park, and why it is special. Thsnk you for sharing your thoughts.
You truly understood and conveyed the Efteling spirit with this video. So many Dutch people grew up visiting Efteling regularly and it means so much to us. It's not just going on roller coasters or enjoying a theme park; it's immersing yourself in a magical realm of otherworldly senses. From childhood to adulthood to parenthood, the spirit of Efteling is handed down from generation to generation. I remember being mesmerized by the musical toadstools, the scary dragon, the crocodiles from Fata Morgana and the miniature world of Diorama. These and so many more are and continue to be collective core memories that live on in the Dutch people who enjoy Efteling.
Exactly! Thank you for sharing your story with us! 🤭
I think the main mafic of efteling is that the immersion in fairytales (almost) never stops. queues, preshows, walking routes, everything is heavily themed. Almost everything. Droomvlucht (dreamflight) could do with a major refresh of its queue area, and Python could do with more theming on its queue.
Great points! The more the park up their theming quality, other parts could look out of date
Im a dutchman, 48 years old, and when i go to the Efteling and i parked my car, my wife gets angry, because the closer we come to the entrance, i start to walk faster and faster automaticly. Efteling is magic, its memorys of 44 years of going there. With family for the first time, with schoolclass, with your mates, the first time i went there with my Hungarian wife.. Efteling is just it. Point.
One of the slightly overlooked details, in my opinion, is the greenery! I love coming to the Efteling and just instantly feeling the contrast with other parks. Definitely in the summer all the trees and green really help make you feel more relaxed, and provide much needed shade!
I 100% agree, so you can get lost in nature at Efteling 🌲
This! I went to Phantasialand for the first time last year and while I thought it was very cool, exciting and detailed, I definitely missed the nature aspect. Most of the trees that were there, were far away. Again, amazing park, but it made me appreciate the 'embracing of nature' in De Efteling even more.
This is an outrageous piece of media, everything executed so well. Really emotional to watch and thoroughly enjoyable. Well done for making such an amazing piece of art.
Love, your biggest fan 😅
Awww thanks Tom, you're the best 😍
I love how you use the actual soundtrack of the park, lots of videos from people talking about or visiting the Efteling cover the music with some royalty free songs, but the soundtrack is such an important piece of the park to me. There's no other park I know of that has an original score for (almost) every attraction and every piece is just so good.
Thank you! Since I’m under 1,000 subscribers I can’t monetise videos anyways, so I thought Why not!! They’re too good to cover over 😂
You are seriously at risk to have over 1000 subscribers very soon :) @@WorldofThrills
It's so difficult to capture the magic of Efteling and what it means to locals. Even though I'm Belgian, not Dutch, I count myself amongst the converted that think this is the most beautiful theme parc ever.
You've done a great job of showing this wonderful world. I recommend everyone to come and experience it for themselves and understand it even better!
Well said!
Man, I just didn't want this video to end, please if you're ever visting again make sure to do a part 2 about the other attractions you missed in this video :) I'm a frequent dutch visitor of the park and its a really big part of my childhood, this video made me emotional multiple times, it really did. And I wanna give you compliments of the quality of the cinematography, story telling and editing as well. This comes from a sincere place in my filmstudent heart, you made me wanna go to the Efteling and film it myself haha. Love it man, really one of the best video's I have ever had the pleasure of watching on this platform
Thank you!! I would love to go back once Danse Macarbe is open and do a whole video at nighttime! It could be all about the sinister side of Efteling or something 😂
You should make your own video!! I bet you know all the cool secrets and amazing angles that visitors myself have no idea about!
I would love to see what you make! 🎬
This video genuinely made me emotional. Having had my own efteling yearpass for over two years now, this park is indeed my "special" place and you've captured exactly why so incredibly beautiful. I've watched plenty of non-dutch videos about this park, but never in my life have I seen one that conveys exactly how beautiful this park really feels, thank you so much for delving into its wonderful stories (even though there is so so much more to discover, as you probably know). Again, thank you so much for this outstanding video, I will definitely be recommending it to everyone I know :)
Agree 100%
Thank you so much! We'd be here all day if I talked about all of Efteling's beauties haha! 😉
as someone who goes to the efteling a lot, this video was truly remarkable, the quality is something special. ive never seen a video review of the efteling with this much effort.
Some places just bring out the best of you and Efteling is 100% one of those places! 🍄
Your video made me feel butterflies in my stomach. I'm 51 years old. 😂 Decades filled with memories.
Wow, you are one heck of a storyteller.
Oh wow, thank you so so much!
Absolute credits to capturing the feeling the Efteling brings out for most Dutchies. As a kid it is truely like walking into a fairytale (and not a cartoon *cough* Disney *cough*). For those abroad while you did a great job covering a lot of rides you are still missing some absolute bangers like Villa Volta (I really wish the intro would be in English as well (maybe two entrances?) since the story is banging (just like the music)). Or the Vogelrok, Joris and the Dragon etc. Also big props for doing Fata Morgana justice. As a kid that and the dreamflight were my absolute favorites and I really hope they get preserved for future generations :)
Vila Volta was closed the same as Vogelrok! I just focused on my favourite rides for this video, but I’m sure I’ll be back!
i took my first trip to Europe specifically to visit Efteling, I was enchanted from the first videos of it I saw! It was so worth it and a great park!
I grew up in the Efteling. Every year my dad, my brother and I would go to the Winter Efteling. We would ice skate, and I got to pick sweets from an old fashioned sweet shop. They are some of my fondest memories from childhood. I haven’t been back there in probably a decade, but I really want to go back to the Winter Efteling. ❄️
You should go back! Thank you for watching and your comment Fleur 🤭
I visited Efteling in March this year with my family from the UK, and I truly think it was the happiest week of my life thus far - I'm only 17 so I have plenty of time ahead of me but there is something about this park that gives it a heart. You can feel the love that people have for it when you're there, there's always just enough going on - never too much and never too little on the eyes. I think the music here is the cherry on top, I don't think there's a single piece of music within efteling that hasn't moved me or made me feel some kind of way - I always came off Droomvlucht with tears in my eyes because of its visuals with its soundtrack. This place is truly one of a kind, and one that I can't wait to visit again sometime. I also spent my first full day with my partner in person here so perhaps that adds to me getting so emotional over this place :') This video is wonderfully done, and it's lovely to see more people sharing their love for this place despite their age. It truly is a place of wonders, thank you for making this :)
That’s such a lovely story, thank you so much for sharing! 🥹
What a beautiful love letter to De Efteling! Thanks for showing what makes this truly the most magical place on Earth.
Thank you so much!
in Belgium as well, as a kid we have ALL been to Efteling at once in our childhood!
Efteling is magical
It really is 😍
Im glad you love it as much as me, I grew up with the efteling and it is wonderful to still go sometimes, I live in the netherlands and its the place where I feel like a kid again :) life can be so overwhelming and stressful for me, because im autistic. Having a place where I can truely escape real life, its so nice and the efteling will always have a special place in my heart
You’re so lucky to grow up with such an amazing place nearby! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment too 🤭
The most beautiful park in the world.
Dutchie here, I went last November and I think that with this video you have caught the essence of Efteling EXACTLY. I really think it's a theme park anyone of any age can enjoy. I also wanted to thank you for sharing such a special and quite vulnerable video, I can see how much Efteling means to you and I love the story of the airport and how you also knew how much it meant to her. just thank you for this amazing virtual tour of Efteling
I really appreciate that ☺️

Man this video...
No words...
You managed to bring 200% nostalgia to me...
Thank you!
The first time i went to de Efteling ( 60 years ago) my favorite was the dancing waterlelies. It’s so nice that the music is still the same, every time I hear it I am 5 years old again.
The music is so perfect I hope they never change it!
Dutchie here. One of my favorite child memories is eating my boterham met hagelslag (slices of bread with chocolate sprinkels) on the lawn by the Fakir. He endlesly floating on his magic carpet from tower to tower and playing his flute, making the tulips grow. Sitting there, in the sun, munching, hearing the flute, watching. So comforting.
Sounds so relaxing 😎
Im dutch, Efteling has never been a favourite of mine even tough now that im 21 i look back at that place with nothing but joy, as a kid u dont understand a lot there and are more so focused on the eerie vibes that these stories give off, atleast for me as a kid. But with that said i think alot of these stories in The sprookjes bos are more sophisticated then we could even imagine as a kid thats why whenever i goto the efteling i still to this day find out new things within these stories and some life lessons even. its about getting to know these stories that makes you look at them different and you really start to realize these stories were made to amuse kids but also are there for adults to understand. its a unlike any other park anywhere which makes it so beautiful. i realize the older i get the more i love that park. With that said thank you for this video and hope to see you back someday much love
That’s a really good way of explaining how much we change as we get older. And great design is all about catering to all age groups! Thanks for watching, and I hope to be back soon!
I have an anual pass for the Efteling, i got it because of the memories it gave me as a child. As someone who gets to be in this park weekly, it never gets boring. I met my most amazing friends in the Efteling community and have spend my most wonderful moments there. The ride attractions ofcourse but the music and the whole atmosphere will never fail to make me fall in love with the park all over again. As a big musical lover, the park has beautiful theatre entertainment pieces in the winter and summer seasons. Not to forget the Caro show in the Efteling theatre. For everyone outside the Netherlands who wants to visit. It’s worth everything, it truly did change my life. Wonderful video, it really captures the beauty of the Efteling.
It's such a beautiful place. Thank you for watching!
I don't think I've ever seen a video/review from a foreigner about the Efteling that captures the essence of the Efteling better. Magnificant work, I am astonished.
That’s very kind of you to say! I think once you start to understand the fairytale forest the rest starts to make sense!
Wow this was a loving tribute to the Efteling, you caught the charm and feeling many of us dutchies and especially Brabanders have about this place.
One thing that stands out to me about the Efteling is that it feels like everything is/was made by real people trying to tell real impacting stories. Your Disney's and universals of the world while yes being absolutely beautiful feel corporate to me. And the Efteling doesn't have that, while still being a massive park.
You touched on the music a little in this video, but that's also another massive part about this wonderful park. It's iconic and written by again real people and not companies like IMA-score, which music can blend into another even between parks. Sadly the composer of Fata Morgana, Villa Volta, Droomvlucht and more has passed away this year, you will always be remembered Ruud Bos just by your legendary scores alone. (Also if your dutch and you haven't listened to the tribute episode for Ruud from ochtend in pretparkland go do so)
The history of this park is massive, luckily some people made the Efteling wiki also known as eftepedia. Well worth a look!
And as a little sendoff, here is a little secret about De Vliegende Hollander. You can turn off the front lantern if your sitting on the back row, there is a button behind the seats on either side of the boat on the raised part that turns it off and on. Do with this power what you will...
Oh wow now that is an awesome tip! Thank you for much for watching too 😊
Hey, Im Dutch myself and the Efteling is like my second home. Every year I go to Bosrijk with my parents, sister, grandmother and since last year Im bringing my boyfriend. I just want to say, thank you for making this video. You call the Efteling: The Efteling. You dont compare with a Disneyland or even call it a Dutch Disneyland (which is what a lot of people do) and I am so happy you dont. You truly show the magic of this park and I am so greatfull. Thank you
Thank you! I tried to keep it as authentic and respectful to Dutch culture as I could, if only I could pronounce all the ride names in Dutch too haha! 😂
De Efteling is like the Disneyland of The Netherlands.
The Music, the theming, the workers, it just makes you feel a type of way..
From 15:50 the story of the border patrol lady, thats what makes Efteling DE Efteling.
What a beautiful piece of art you made my dude.
The shots and storytelling is top notch.
Thanks dude, appreciate you watching 🍄
This is such a good video! As a belgian person I have also been going to the park with my family for years now and it always feels magical. It truly makes you forget about your struggles and absorbs you in the fantasy, I really love the efteling and I can't wait to go back! ❤
What makes it so amazing is that the Netherlands is a small country, so almost everyone in this country has been in efteling before. It’s a place I’ve been going to since I was a child. I would go every year and the only time I have missed is during covid. Efteling is a part of my childhood and a big one. The fact that everyone is so nice there and always has been is something not very common to theme parks. I have my troubles with Disneyland Paris staff (I’ve also been going there my whole life, at least 10 times now and I’m still going this year) but I’ve never had a bad experience at efteling. If it’s beautiful weather it’s amazing. If it rains it’s sad until all the staff come and make it wonderful. Efteling is a place you can share with family and friends and there’s rarely a single person that hasn’t been there once. It’s a shared place of the Netherlands. A home to millions of childhoods. That’s what makes it so special
Couldn't have said it better myself
As a Belgian, I only live like an hour from the efteling. I remember going with my parents when i was young, those were some good times. Now I have 2 daughters, and they also love the Efteling. For the last 4 years, in the summer we go for 2 days to the efteling and it really is also fun to go as a parent to see your kids enjoy it. I really like the production and presentation of your video. That is why when i checked your subscribers, I first thought it said 1,28m subs. Keep up the good work.
Much be so special to show your family the same roads you have been walking for years. Thank you for the support, here's to 1.28million hahaha
i was just trying to watch more efteling content as a big fan and now i’m here crying. you did a fantastic job at capturing the magic, unique essence and nostalgia the efteling brings so many people. thank you.
Aww thank you so much! 😊
I’ve been lucky enough to have visited 42 counties in my life time and when possible I’ve been to the local amusement park. Disney in Tokyo, Universal Studios in La, Europa Park in Rust, Alton Towers in Staffordshire were all great, but seriously De Efteling in Kaatsheuvel was legendary! 💕
Hopefully one day I’ll be able to say the same! ✈️
I went today to the Efteling! It was so fun! I love the Efteling because of it style.
I'm so glad you had a great time!
This was one of the best reviews of Efteling I ever saw. It was just so beautiful and made me as a dutchie tear up a bit
Thank you so much! 😊
You nailed it, although missing some details, because of language and cultural reasons, you get the essense! That's the thing.
I totally agree: Baron 1898 is a goofball in the park, but it fits spot on. You saw the colouring patterns coming back indeed, the immersive story telling, but I can give you more details about it. The attraction is as well a tribute to late 19th and early 20th century mining in the Limburg area of the Netherlands. The building is in the 'Jugendstil/Art Nouveau' building style from that age, making buildings by the main materials of the age very visible: steel, brick and a bit of concrete. The music you hear is fanfare/harmony music. This also is really regionally bound and big in this age. The trees surrounding the queue line are all pine trees, suggesting a production forest to make mine struts and equipment. The Baron itself has a voice actor that is very famous in the Netherlands for dubbing various cartoons like several Smurfs, but most famous he is the evil Baron van Neemweggen (Baron of Rustleaways) in the kids series 'Bassie en Adriaan'. In some ways it's like the late 19th century version of him. That gives an extra layer of experience to it. The classic 'curse story' is also an Efeling favourite. The 'white women' are more than just some troublesome ghosts in Dutch culture. Coming from the east of NL, they are evilish female spirits, only coming from mist and trying to deceive you, making you lost and can terrorize you if they think you deserve it. It's a nature fighting back in this case, you aren't to take the gold from the mine. It ruins the balance of... Nature! Even in Baron 1898 this is a theme. All stuff in there was real mine equipment once from the Limburg area (and from just over the German border). It's really a job well done in that attraction. You felt it, although you missed these details, because of language and cultural gaps. It's indeed a proud member of the Efteling story telling.
Other fun facts of the park: those steam trains were real trains once, originating from late 19th century. They were originally trains transporting clay for brick factories and other materials. The seats are made in the 50's and 60's though. The caroussel in the centre of the park is a real one from beginning 20th century. The Gavioli organ in the centre of the tent is without doubt the most precious thing in the whole park. It brings you back to the carnival culture of these lands at the beginning of the 20th century. The diorama behind it is also worth a visit. Look well there, references to Piecks drawings everywhere.
It's a bit sad you couldn't make footage of the Spookslot anymore. I'm sure you would have loved to do so. That attraction was the bridge from regional famous playground and leisure park, to national and international famous theme park. Look it up on youtube, I'm sure you will get 'begeesterd😉'.
Hopefully next time you will experience 'Droomvlucht' with renewed effects and toally renovated. And please, if your Dutch improves, take a good notice of Villa Volta as well. It's such a pearl in the park. It works only better if you understand the story as well.
Welcome to the Efteling cult, my friend. The Dutch will always respect you for that. Thank you for the tribute!
Now this is the kind of comment I love!
I actually had no idea about the story of baron being so intertwined with Dutch folklore! And the fact they use the same voice actor for the Baron himself is so coool!
I’m definitely going to have to tell everyone in the UK to read this comment before they head to Efteling as occasionally I see a comment about the story of Baron being confusing to non-Dutch speakers. But you’ve explained it beautifully! So thank you!!
I didn’t feature most other rides in this video as to keep the run-time down and only focus on the ones that REALLY stood out to me. But don’t worry, we spent 2 days uncovering every little detail of the park! Villa Volta and Vogel Rock are the only 2 attractions that were closed for my visit, but I’m sure I will ride them next time!
As for Spookslot, I luckily got to experience it in 2022, and a friend of mine has an 8K video of the whole show! I love how the music is playing a huge part in the new Danse Macabre attraction, especially the name 😉
Dank je wel for your comment, I love learning all I can about this enchanting place!

this is the most beautifull and detailed documetarie about the excisting of the park, not sure if subtitles are available but only the images are very nice. the three ladies for example are telling there father ( one of the founders) is creating Doornroosje in there living room when they are child. Father asked them to lay down and breath so he could see what movement the should give dorrnroosje haha
Great video! As a kid I used to visit Efteling once a year with my parents and being a parent myself now I've started taking my own children :) Efteling is such an important part of The Netherlands, it's the theme park we compare all others to whenever we visit them anywhere in the world. I'd say the Efteling has been doing such a consistently good job throughout the years that every other park you visit just slightly dissapoints. One thing I missed in your video though: Villa Volta. A ride that opend not long after Droomvlucht and is located right next to it. A great ride and in my opinion the best piece of (original) music in Efteling. Its seems to be left out of a lot of TH-cam videos and I feel it deserves a little more love.
I would have loved to have rode Villa Volta just unfortunately it’s always been shut for me! One day I will get on it 😎
@@WorldofThrills Such a shame that you didn't have the opportunity to go! I completely agree with that it has the best piece of original music which enhances the ride by a ton! If you haven't given it a listen you should! Unless you don't want to spoil yourself the full villa volta package in future 😉
Thank you for making this video! Goosebumps, this is Efteling. ✨🍄
And thank you for sharing our tradition on the mushrooms, that brought back up so many good memories while watching the video.
Really appreciate that Bart! Thank you for your help too!! ☺
Rarely have I seen the beauty of Efteling captured and explained so well in a video. This is incredibly well done, thank you!
You're very welcome!
Duuude your channel is so underrated! Most high quality, most beautiful theme park videos out there.
I try my best 😂 Thank you dude!
efteling captures something truly magical to me that nothing can replicate. there is an authentic dedication to the original tales' whimsy and creativity you just do not see in the fairy tale inspired aspects of some disney locations! this video was so beautiful, i cant wait to hopefully visit this park one day 🫶
Thank you so much 😀 I hope you get to visit soon!
De Efteling really is that place for Dutch people. It's childhood, fantasy and joy with a sense of family and home all wrapped in one place. It's not just a commercial brand, but in a sense it's Dutch culture without the windmills and cheese.
First time finding your account as a dutch man, this is beautiful. I am si happy that i can visite the Efteling 3times a year. You did Forget to talk about Joris en de draak my personal favorite.
I know... The video would be HOURS long if I added every great ride haha!
As a dutchie i generally dont care about the netherlands. Then i remember that we have one of the best theme parks in the world. Its the one thing here that i like.
I love the fact that you actually used the music of the park, because for me the music has such a special place that it just makes me happy to hear the music alone
The music is just too goood not to use!
Thanks for this beautiful video about the Efteling. I've visited back when I was a kid, and now I get to bring my own kids to the park. I've watched this with a tear in my eye as you are spot on with pretty much everything.
Aww thank you so much 🥹
If you need me, I'll be over here watching the Hollander section on a LOOP. You've created something special here my friend ❤
Ohhh thank you Claire ❤️
I really appreciate this video, very well done. What strikes me most is the story with the airport worker. It triggered some sparks of joy in me as well. I'm thinking of planning a trip to the efteling again, and invite some British friends over. I'd love to see their faces when they fall in love with it as well as you have
I bet they’re going to love it!
The best park in the world, I've been to so many theme parks in the world. Nothing beats the Efteling
It really is just SO fantastic
Best theme park in the WORLD
THE VERY BEST!
The story of the passport made me tear up, cause it is so true that having the smallest thought of the Efteling will put a smile on anyone’s face.
I still remember going to the Efteling as a child, together with all my nieces, nephews and my grandma. It has brought me so many amazing memories. It was amazing growing up, having experienced many the fantasy and spirit of the Efteling. It holds such a special place in my heart. ❤
Thank you for so expertly showing the magic and music that is the Efteling.❤
Thank you for watching! ❤️
Thank you so much for this video. I have many international friends and as a huge fan of the Efteling I could never really explain what makes this park so special to me as it is just so difficult to do it justice with just words. This is the perfect video to send their way to finally explain how this one themepark has such a strong grasp on me.
No, thank you for watching my friend!
It’s definitely the nostalgia, people have been coming here for generations together with their families, you come here with your grandparents and we will be there after them. It just feels like home and a tradition. Just once or twice a year to have some fun and forget your problems. Then there’s the winter Efteling which we also go to, it’s basically Efteling but with a cozier winter theme. It’s awesome and it feels like Christmas morning and Christmas Eve, it feels like if Christmas as a holiday was a park. Really fun too
I'd love to see the Winter Efteling!
I live only ten minutes from The Efteling and must have been there at least a thousand times, but man, the way you describe it here is epic! Hats off!
Hey that’s big praise! Thanks so much for watching ☺️
An absolute winner, this video. I've seen many Efteling reviews but this one's next level. Moved me to tears and made me proud indeed! Thank you!
This comment makes me so happy, thank you for watching my friend 🥹
I absolutely LOVE that you're dressed in theme for lots of the rides when you're talking about them!! And also more in general, love this whole video!! Thank you so much
YES! Thank you for noticing 😂
That is some camera work and editing. Well done. Applause.
Thank you so much!
We have gone a lot to the efteling in the past since the village is a stones throw away from my parents place so have biked there and been there with family and friends. Don't know what it is but everytime it feels amazing and you feel like a kid again.
Must be so nice to have the Efteling so close by!
@@WorldofThrills it is but after a while we had seen it soo much so we stopped going a lot but have been back about every year at least once.
What a stunning video you made about our national pride that is De Efteling. You captured the true spririt of the park through your great videography, narration and music. Very well done! And your Dutch pronounciation is impeccable!
Dank je wel 😉
The Fata Morgana is fantastic. Every time I visit the Efteling I go on that ride even though I've been on it countless times.
We did it about 4 times each day 😂
What a special video you made! To describe The Efteling feeling to a foreigner is very hard because it has to do with emotions. But you totally understand why The Efteling is so special. As an employee of The Efteling I have the honor to spend many hours every week in The Efteling and then you seem to forget how special The Efteling is. By watching your video you remind me why I love the Efteling so much and makes me even more proud to be able to work in this special magical place.
That is so cool that you work at The Efteling! I bet it’s amazing to be around everything. I’m so glad you got to rekindle the magic of Efteling. Thank you for taking the time to comment your story! ☺️
You know a theme park is that good when you are watching a video about it and you can vividly remember every smell and feeling of the attractions you mention 😅 I really smelt droomvlucht when you where talking about it. Love your tribute and hope you can visit again soon! ❤
Oh, and please visit Villa Volta. I notice you are really into the music pieces and Villa Volta has the most beautiful music of all attractions in the Efteling.
I'm hoping to come back this year for Danse Macabre!
Vila Volta was shut sadly, but I promise I will ride it next time I go if it is open hahah
Wow, this is the best Efteling video out there. Trust me, I've watched them all. ❤
Wow, thank you! 🤩
As a dutchie, The efteling is a huge part of my childhood. Loving each bit and piece, love learning the past and each story of each ride makes me enjoy it so much more. I've been to the Efteling so many times and I never become bored of it... it's a place for friends and family to enjoy, keeping memories. For me it's more magical than Disney, the Efteling gives you the experience of everything you have in a theme park with there beautiful scenery and nature for the old and the young. Making it for everyone to enjoy. I feel like the Efteling needs more attention and love in the world. But overall I really agree with you and an amazing video
You're totally right! Thank you for your support! :)
Great explanatory and well looking video man. Thanks a lot!
Cheers dude!
Did you have trouble with copyright infringement using the Efteling theme music?@@WorldofThrills
@@WanderlustTravelVideos So... TH-cam says "The owner allows the content to be used on TH-cam."
However if you have over 1,000 subs you wouldn't be able to monetise the video. And of course if Efteling decided they didn't want the music to be used, they could ask you to take the video down.
It's a risk, but the music is so damn good haha!
All the praises in the comments are well deserved IMHO and I totally agree with them. Probably the best video about the Efteling on TH-cam.
I’m so grateful for the responses! Thank you for watching ☺️
The childhood visits, with the magic of Het Sprookjesbos, the annual visits as a young couple, when we usually just wandered around, the first visits with our young kids, the visits when they were teenagers and I had to go to Het Sprookjesbos by myself because they were too busy with the wild stuff: all precious memories! And on top of that, at 59 years of age I 'did' The Baron for the first time. Exciting! Thanks for this video 💝
Must be lovely to share the same memories with your family 🥰
wow. the videography here is truly admirable. you presented efteling in such a beautiful way, making it feel like my home - despite the fact i've never visited it! methinks i will be checking out your other work 💭
Thank you! And I hope that you enjoy it 🎬
They're renovating Sleeping Beauty at the moment and apparently they're going to add a new scene/character.
Looking at the older concept drawings of Anton Pieck, people speculate it'll be a second sleeping guard (but I hope it's the prince climbing the wall or something, because we already have a sleeping guard). But it's very awesome that we can still use the older drawings of the man that brought the Efteling to life.
Oh cool, I had no idea! That is really awesome
I'm so glad they haven't changed anything about or updated the animatronics and characters since I've last been there. Such charm. Brings back memories. It's been 20+ years since I last went. Thanks for this trip down memory lane!
Thank you for watching!
This is a masterpiece! Should be very proud of this🔥
Thanks man, I really appreciate it! 🙌
Efteling is my childhood and still is today the place to feel a child again. I can't count how many times I've seen Sprookjesbos, Fata Morgana or Droomvlucht (that's my personal favourite) but everytime I see something new. The detailing is amazing. I've been to Disneyland Paris, World Disney, Phantasialand and it are all great parks but they don't have the care, pride and love that Efteling has for theme and creating the story that lifts the ride to an other level. I can't waith until Dance Macabre is finished.
I totally agree with you. You can really feel the pride in the attention to detail whilst walking around the park :)
Best Efteling video on TH-cam by far. Many Compliments! 🍄👏
Wow, thank you!
huh the production quality is so good I assumed this channel had like a million subs thats crazy if you keep this up your channel will become very big :)
Hey, maybe one day 😂
definitely! :)
It’s so special to see the deep love and appreciation for Efteling from someone who is no local or raised with visiting the park as a child.
It’s really true that Efteling holds a special place in most Dutch peoples lives and it still continues to enchant more people with its odd charm.
Keep up the good work!
Thank you my friend!
You're not obsessed, you fell in Love, just like everyone of us. Efteling touches you in an way, that can change your life. It charmefully writes its magic in your heart and there it will stay. And whenever you return, this spark of childhood joy will get bigger and bigger.
A beautiful tribute to, what is still after 34 years of walking this earth, my favorite place of them all. Efteling is so much more than a theme park, it's childhood, it's nostalgia, it's fantasy but above all it's family and friends. Long may it stand and enchant new generations after we're all gone.
Thank you for watching my friend! I have been loving reading all the comments with everyone’s stories about de Efteling 😊
The part about Droomvlucht made me tear up, funny enough. I've been to De Efteling at least once a year since I was a baby. It's special to me and my family. Droomvlucht is a personal comfort, a world I want to live in forever. It's gorgeous
I can’t wait to go back on it ✨
What a beautiful report of the park. I am absolutely in love with Aquanura in the dark. If you ever have the chance I will definitely recommend it.
Yes! I would love to see that
It's so beautiful, hearing you talk about my childhood theme park with such an passion. I've always liked the Efteling, the magic it has and the beautiful people. And I really loved watching this video, it's so well put together that I could watch this whole thing. I really hope you'll ever come back to the Efteling to enjoy the wonderful magic it gives you and brings back the big smile on your face!
Thank you! I can’t wait to come back ☺️
This vlog made me cry..So beautiful, thank you. I live 15 min away from this park and it is very special to me as well. So just wanted to say thank you
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it :)
As a Dutch girl who has been going to the Efteling for as long as I can remember, this is so beautiful and absolutely deserves more attention. You have captured the exact idea of what the Efteling is, and I’m so grateful for you doing it.
Thank you so much or dankjewel 😊
Thank you! And I believe I should say back, alsjeblieft! 😉
This video deserves to blow up! Wonderful editing and well told!
Thank you!
What a beautiful video full of passion and love. I’ve only been to Efteling once, and it was just recently in June 2023. As a Frenchman, I never had the opportunity to travel there until then, yet I felt exactly the way you did. There’s this unspoken nostalgia at every corner even if it’s your first time visiting. I’m definitely going to try to go back this year 😊
Efteling is indeed special and seeing the park through your eyes made it even more beautiful and inspiring to mine. Thank you for this wonderful video, I’m glad to have found you and your channel 🥰
Thank you for your comment my friend! I'd love to go back this year too!
@@WorldofThrills I’ve learnt they’re doing a special event where the park closes at 1am on New Year’s Eve, I think that’s what I’ll be setting my eye on for Efteling next year among the other trips that I’ve got planned 🥰
What a great video! Although Baron is not based on a fairytale, it is does contain a local folk tale/legend (the white woman), which is quite a common theme as well. For example, villa volta and the Flying Dutchman are based on folk tales. Making it very Efteling for me 🙂
That's a great point!
I think the point I was trying to make is that most of the scenery at Efteling has an almost hand-made feeling. Like and old knitted sweater. But the theme of Baron is very different than that, very Industrial Revolution feeling. I love Baron just as much and think it is a beautiful piece of design, but doesn't have that cosy charm a lot of the other parts of the park has.
@@WorldofThrillsyeah it doesn't have the cozy feel, but for the story that's exactly right. As far as I recall this disjoint, the industrial abuse of nature, is exactly what the witte wieven are fighting against. There's a beauty in the designs of the industrial revolution, but there's the dark undercurrent of disregard of nature as well. And the story and theming catch this perfectly. It wouldn't work if it had the cozy feeling.
youre video is one of the best efteling vlogs i have seen thank you!
Thank you!☺️
