Other than Leica, I'll take Japanese anyday. I'm sure that machine was well designed and built, but for the average sewer, I'll take a Japanese built Kenmore 158-1941 over anything except a Singer 201-2.
I have the same machine. Paid repair shop to install a new hook. Sometimes it works good other times the thread from the needle gets tangled all around the hook and I can't pull my sewn item out from the machine to cut the threads once I raise the presser foot. I wonder if I am doing something wrong to cause the thread to become entangled
