Hard as it may seem to believe, the "jack be nimble" bit (from an English nursery rhyme) refers to a (Mediaeval?) game by which we make various agile jumps over a lit candle without putting out the flame. The purpose of the game, and the message of the song, is thus clear - our lives are a long and hard road, but we should never let the flame of the Holy Spirit go out as we pass along it the Holy Day at the end! I take this message so seriously (now), that I am living it. And, far from being a serious life, it is one that has a lot of joy in it - including the joy we see above!!!
