I just got mine. It's... uh... it's the best gig bag I've come across.
I have to echo your review.
I've had several, including others from Fender over the last.... 25 or so years (I am not old, I'm a high level character). This is the perfect combination of features and compromise. I've had thin, lightweight gig bags, convenient, but not enough protection. I had one of those roadrunner $120 monsters.... it was thicker than a hard case, PITA to haul around... the prime advantage of a gig bag is 'grab and go' convenience'.
Here we hit the sweet spot. 20mm of protection. Semi hard case. It feels as or more protected than the monster RR, it's a snugger fit, less chance to rattle around... but it's still thin and light. So for my money, it's the perfect balance or protection and size/weight. Goldielocks zone. Hard rubber in the all the right places. Very comfortable handle and shoulder straps. Removable neck support is actually useful for bench work. Well thought out pockets for cables, tuners, strings, pics etc. I can fit my Spark Go in it easily... I can get literally everything I need for a gig into this bag (assuming I can plug my little go into the house PA). And it looks good. My guitar is Candy Red Burst with black plastic, so... the case matches actually.
I found my perfect gig bag, but it seems they've been discontinued. Most major sellers are out of stock. I got mine from Sweetwater, shipped fast and they packed it better than some pack guitars. So I can easily recommend them. $60 still. This would be a great bag in the $120 range. I think it's better than a competing $120 gig bag I owned.
Good job on the review, I agree completely and wanted to chime in with that agreement.
Fender, Great case. I tip my hat to the design team. If this is discontinued, it's replacement had better be fantastic, because this is the best gig bag I've tried.
Sweetwater, seriously stellar job packing this. If this is how you pack your gig bags.... The only way this could arrived damaged was if the truck carrying it caught fire... and even then, it might have made it. Fed Ex could have let angry drunk orangutans handle the box and it'd been fine.

Thank you excellent review. I've been doing a ton of research on this bag. Your video and explanations helped me feel comfortable ordering on line. FYI Musician's Friend Memorial Deal - got this for 59.99 - 10% = 53.99, May 30 2023)

I'll get the fe1225 bcs of the double times stronger polyester material. It will last longer and is stronger (1200 vs 600 denier poly). And also you get an extra neck pillow. And more extre stuff

Brotha, how can you compare the two… this is $60 and the 1225 is $140

I have one of these and I really find the shoulder straps are too low. It makes carrying the instrument kind of unstable. I have 2 Mono, PRS, Warwick and a Gibson. All of them have got the straps higher up, which makes it more stable. Though the Fender is very well built, but the straps are making it my least favorite bag

I can see that. I do find the guitar to be pretty high above my head while walking around with it.

looks like the headstock is sticking above the protective padding. Does it even cover it?

Looks like left handed guitars don’t fit this case. That’s why it is fitting poorly.

  • @ryanadamvarner

I also got this bag, also left handed and I ended up removing just a bit of the foam from the headstock area because it just seemed so tight. Lol. I really like the bag though, I still wish they would just make gig bags for 25% of society....lefties are people too.

I bought to use it with Harley Benton HB-35 plus and it doesn't fit, the guitar is longer (higher) for about 4cm.
      Hope this helps.

Not crazy about the design of large zipper bag. It zips all the way down, letting everything fall out. Strange decision. Should have either 1: added a net moving across the lower half of the compartment, or 2: left 3 inches or so of wall area (non-zip lined) so that the entire flap doesn't collapse over letting everything spill over.
