    Thats a great accessory for the go sun, the set it and forget it aspect is great if you have other stuff to do. I can attest to its heating. I had it under a standard 60 watt lightbulb and it cumulated a lot of heat.

    You could boil water several times and fill up a stainless steel thermos. That way you would have hot water at night too for emergencies or faster food prep, hot cocoa, etc. Those Stanley thermoses keep water smokin hot for over 24 hours.

    Prepper reality 101. Chopping, storing, ageing wood to boil ALL your water is going to be an awful lot of work.
    Thanks for showing this Brad. My wife wanted to get the GoSun Oven and I talked her out of it for the cracking when boiling reason.

    Cool. I use an old satellite TV dish. I put aluminum tape on it. I use a black coffee cup and that bad boy boils in about 2 minutes! It can also light a fire with wet sawdust on the snow in zubfreezing weather in 3 minutes.

    These style ovens really work. Even Gosun’s littlest one boiled water for me in 53-55 minutes. I’ve been playing with larger ones that fit mini-loaf pans (for about half the price of a Gosun Fusion) and have had great luck. There is a learning curve, but I have had more trouble over-cooking food than under-cooking and even on bright cloudy days I can make piping hot chicken drumsticks. Can’t recommend these type of stoves enough!

    Tell Go Sun to offer some optional gear:
    1. titaniium "long brew" boil tube - something almost the full length of the sport's cooking tube
    2. separate, tight seal, non-cook lid for "long brew" tube
    3. steam driven whistle llid
    In that case, I'd buy two sports and the add ons. :P

Also in my case I have a family of 7. 2 teenage male athletes. Do you know how many of these I'd need to feed this crew? Nearly all reviews are recorded in the US. The US lies at the same latitude as northern Africa, so no wonder the Gosun works so well there. I use it in the Netherlands, but that is a different story. On a fairly sunny day in May it took me 90 minutes to boil 400 cc of water in the morning and it took me one hour around noon. Still useful, but here I would have a hard time trying to boil and sterilize enough water to stay alive (at least 3 liters for one person). Maybe I buy two more Gosun Go's.

    • @OhioPrepperOne
      @OhioPrepperOne 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the last European yes sir, there are filters which will remove some chlorine and fluoride as well but they need to be changed frequently depending on the levels, I doubt you or I could purchase a test kit to determine the levels but you could certainly have the water tested to get a baseline during normal times. I have a Dalton’s setup similar to Berkey using ceramic filters but nothing for chlorine or fluoride. I also use sawyer mini and a katadyn hiker Pro from time to time, but I always use chlorine tablets for the most part after I filter it.

    If you find this comment offensive, you will not hurt my feeling if you delete it, I will continue to be a fervent Patreon follower of your channel. In my opinion, this device may be ok for a base camp. A combustible material can be found on over 98% of our planet, so I prefer my Emberlit Titanium over the GoSun. The GoSun will not fit in my BOB or LRBOB, nor will it work in enclosed spaces, minus the carbon monoxide risks of the Emberlit. I compliment my Emberlit with a Fancy Feast Alcohol Stove (Free) inside of the Emberlit for many quick and enjoyable meals. My point being, I am very much weight conscious on my BOB's so I can carry more important things like ammo and food. Both of my stoves boil water for safe drinking. I do not think that you addressed that in your review. Keep up the great work and I very much enjoy your channel. Tnx.

    • @FullSpectrumSurvival
      @FullSpectrumSurvival  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I find your comment very useful and important David. Solar ovens of all shapes and sized are not for bugging out that is for sure. For a retreat location? surely but even more so, they are a way to minimize dependency on the grid now and remain independent down the road. But great points. It won't be replacing my kit items because of its size but we have cooked hundreds of meals here at our home using solar ovens over the years and they do have a good place for that very use.

    • @36hcso
      @36hcso 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wholeheartedly endorse your response. Thank You. From a BOB point of view, it is not practical. I would love to have a GoSun for home, Base Camp or Sailboat use but it has been a bit out of my budget for some time now, other things you know. I do plan on getting one with accessories in the future though. Tnx.

      You can also build one yourself much cheaper. There are many vids on them. I plan on building one just too many projects at the moment. I also would like to build one much bigger than what I've seen so far. (We have 5 kids and 2 are teenage athletes) I also feel great pride in doing everything myself and there is literally nothing outside of electronics I can't fabricate, build, or fix. Im interested in seeing the big one Brad talks about if he shows it or I can find it online

    • @36hcso
      @36hcso 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for a reply @jay westfall. This is my spin. You know the old saying that "you get what you pay for". With that in mind. My thinking is sure I could build one cheaper. But would I have all of the engineering and testing that GoSun put into making their product, or one that is safe to use? I am like you a jack of all trades. But I also have to consider 'Time Vs. Tools", "Time Vs. Resources". Time is a non-renewable resource. So, yes. I definitely see the Cost-Benefit of outright purchasing a GoSun. For me, the GoSun product is a worthwhile purchase when compared to the time and expense it would cost for me to build something I am not certain would work proficiently without long-term experimentation. Just my opinion sir. Tnx.

    • @jaywestfall4670
      @jaywestfall4670 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are making advancements at both. I've just started researching batteries and need to do more before I feel comfortable talking about it tho. I've read articles about solar advancements but then they disappear? Like a year ago I read that they found a new spectrum in the Suns Ray's 1000xs stronger than we use today. Haven't heard anything since!? Anyone else? I also think we will see more advancements as now enormous entities are now turning to solar or wind. They have the money to invest in furthering technology. Since we left glass celled batteries how much advancements were there since? Not much, the battery companies had no reason to invest in a product they already had a market cornered on. Why invest huge money to make better product? Now the scale has vastly increased by cooperations who have that money and a demand for it. Just my thoughts, never read or talked to anyone on this subject
