  • The videos for Buick MacKane and Children of the Revolution were filmed on the same day - probably in October 1972 in London, although it is unclear for what purpose they were made. In both videos Marc is using his newly-acquired Veleno custom aluminium guitar.
Featuring the classic T.Rex line-up of Marc Bolan, Mickey Finn, Steve Currie and Bill Legend, Buick MacKane was a favourite track from The Slider album (released 21 July 1972), while the anthemic Children of the Revolution was the third single on Bolan’s T.Rex label, released 8 September 1972 and reaching number two in the top 40. It is one of Bolan’s most enduring songs and the title phrase is frequently referenced in the English language.

T-Rex channel Led Zepp and make it their own. It's heavy, it's lite, it's absolute genius. Love the fairground ride ending.

Only Bolan could get away with the dramatic 'rock star' sort of stuff he did in this clip and on stage I reckon. Also this hasn't got the great lead break that's at the end of the song on the record version. That's the highlight of the song in my opinion.

The founder of glam rock, that leaned others in that direction Bowie, Jagger and many more later. A rock visionary that began with no instrumental, vocal or songwriting acumen, just a desire to be a rock star.
Electric Warrior is my favorite. Been offered over $200 for my Slider album with perfect cover.
    I’ll never sell my vinyl
To those critical of the lip synch, watch the March 18, 1972 matinee concert at the Wembley Empire Pool.
He was a rock monster. No lip synching there

Good point - my recollection is that amps were initially plugged out, instruments a little out of tune, mic stands were falling apart, etc, but MB just put his head down and blitzkrieged his way through it...

Not sure if the song was ever released as a single in the US…. It had the makings for it like “ bang a gong” did, but the slider LP did not go too far, as anything else afterwards…. Too bad MB had a falling out with Bowie in the early 70’s, who could have been a great help to him in the studio productions…..Trex was always better live.

I was fortunate to play the guitar Marc owned in this Film Clip through a Marshall half stack before it was attached to a support post to the Hard Rock Cafe Bar. The guitar store where l would purchase my guitar strings had just taken delivery of the Veleno , word was the above guitar was the first made by John Veleno one of two that Marc purchased from John. Such an incredibly cool player Marc was ahead of his time in recognising as both stylish and sounding the uniqueness of this instrument .
