The most important thing about a prophet is "They are LED BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD". Jesus says it like this - "You will know them by their FRUIT" - rather if they are false or His. Which means the same thing "They are sons of God and are led by the Spirit of God and not led by the flesh. A true believer with the Holy Spirit will always hear when a prophet is speaking from the Lord - BECAUSE A PROPHET IS A SENT ONE. THEY ARE SENT.
I do not see in the spirit like see angels or the Lord or see things like open visions. Do you pray to see things or is that just a gift the a lord gives only to seers?
Well, there ideas: 1) When we engage prayer and move into deeper places in prayer our spiritual senses are automatically activated by God’s Power. 2) Some are born seers and so that is a gift they already have but you can ask God to develop you in that gift, and sometimes the Holy Spirit will as scripture says “covet after spiritual gifts.”
