Does it Hurt is SOOOO good. I liked Haunting Adeline, but Does It Hurt is my FAVORITE book by HD Carlton

I just finished haunting adeline and not sure I’m interested in reading the next book. It’s my first dark romance I’ve read and I didn’t find it that dark at all the most frustrating thing to me is how contradictory Zades character is😂
@@Aliciae411 yes, it’s definitely different and honestly better than haunting Adeline! If book 1 of HA was too much for you, I don’t recommend reading book 2

I read it on my Kindle, then ordered the books, and am now listening on Audible! It's a different breed, for sure. Hunting Adeline truly made me sob multiple times, be prepared- so many triggers. but I love that despite how dark it is, Zade is a light to so many that he saves, not to mention how he is there to help Adeline heal, and is her sturdy rock throughout it all. I love your music so much btw! Thank you for reading this truly, that was such a genuine thing to do. I hope you enjoy the rest! :) Just became a bigger fan of yours!

I’m so very glad you’re joining us on booktok - but before you get thrown into Hunting Adeline - please be aware - if you thought part 1 was dark, you will probably need therapy after book 2. It is definitely not one you want to have read aloud around people. I’m very aware of my triggers and 100% thought I could handle it - but I legitimately had a mental breakdown multiple times during that book. As much as I loved the series, I don’t think I can ever read it again after book 2 ):

Does It Hurt is amazing! It’s not as dark as the Cat and Mouse duet. I’m just impressed that you dove right into the dark romance genre. Read Heartless Heathens by Santana Knox! She’s one of my favorites. Shantel Tessier, Harley Laroux, Ana Huang, Sophie Lark, Jennifer Harttman. There’s so many great indie authors writing amazing books and characters.

Haunting Adeline is an intensely spicy read, so make sure you’re comfortable with its themes, as it delves into sex trade and has some very dark, dominating elements something I personally enjoy if that’s your taste. The storyline is captivating, and I’m eagerly anticipating the rest of the series because I need to know what happens next! Haunting Adeline is edging close to being my favorite book of the year. For 2024, though, keep an eye out for Sex God: Uriel and Den of Vipers-they’re my top three picks! ☺
You REALLY need to read Satan's Affair BEFORE Hunting Adeline! You'll love Sibby, she's absolutely insane!!

I will say, Hunting Adeline is more graphic and harder to read. It might be harder to listen to than to read, so keep that in my mind. Does it Hurt? Is pretty good! It’s more mellow than Haunting Adeline, but the mystery and just the eeriness of it is so good!
Satan's Affair by HD Carlton is like a Prequel to Haunting/ Hunting Adeline and I have heard so many good things about Does It Hurt. You mught enjoy these ones

I love this book and all of her other ones but I also really liked sinners anonymous (not by H.D Carlton) it’s a series and you don’t have to read them in any kind of order but that one is my favorite of the series

If you haven’t already, you really should read or listen to Butcher and Blackbird. It’s very similar with the two perspectives, also smut. Not nearly as smut as HA but SO worth the read.

I cannot believe you listened to this audiobook. Second book is much darker than the first. If you can handle haunting Adeline then you can handle a lot of dark romance. There are plenty of good dark romance audiobooks with more than one POV
