Heck yeah! Thats my second favorite on it actually, my #1 is also my #1 song overall, My Melancholy Blues. Love the emotion in Freddie's voice and it reminds me of old jazz music which I also love.
My ten favorite Queen songs are:
      1. My Melancholy Blues/Seven Seas of Rhye (tie)
      2. It's Late
      3. Stone Cold Crazy
      4. '39
      5. Now I'm Here
      6. The Prophets Song
      7. Bohemian Rhapsody

Jazz is my sentimental #1, but Night at the Opera is the correct #1. Queen always had a bit of prog in them, and their willingness to be different/try different things is definitely a prog idea. Brian May adores Kansas (he appeared in the Kansas documentary " Miracles out Of Nowhere "), of course they should be recognized in the prog world

Night at the Opera was my introduction to Queen, at age six, from my older sister. She played this for me, going over the lyrics to the Prophet's song and painting a picture of the scene. She did the same with Rush 2112. And she gave me my first Zeppelin album (4). That's probably why these are my favorite bands. RIP, Melissa.

Really enjoyed this, can't wait to watch more fo your videos. Excellent reasoning behind the rankings, and I concur with just about all of it. Might have bumped Innuendo up a couple of spots and put Queen II at #1. Glad that you're not swept up in the sentimentality behind Made in Heaven. They did the best they could, but its just a forced collection of fragments, and the resulting songs are underwhelming for a rock fan. The 80s output is pretty patchy, with some great singles in amongst some dross. My list:
    1. Queen II
    2. Sheer Heart Attack
    3. A Night at the Opera
    4. Queen
    5. A Day at the Races

@@TheProgCorner An up and down career makes for an interesting band. They do their own thing and if you’re along for the ride all the better I suppose. I started back in the late 70’s with Indiscreet and I’ve been a fan ever since. I’m super impressed with the stuff they’ve released in the 21st century. They’re like a fine wine. My sweet spot is Queen II through A Night at the Opera. I really don't like their last 3 or 4 releases except for a few songs. I love Under Pressure with Bowie. Queens diversity is astounding. @@TheProgCorner Don’t worry it’s your opinion Scot, I’m a huge defender for tracks such as “Delilah” and “The Hitman”. I can understand why people don’t like “Delilah” as the lyrics are quite silly but it was about Freddie’s favourite cat, Freddie thought he didn’t have long left so he wrote it as quickly as possible and I like the synths used throughout. I’ve never understood why people don’t like “The Hitman”, it is nearly 5 minutes but it’s got some great Brian May riffs and solos and it’s probably Queen’s heaviest song. 😊👍

Wow Scot. A walk through the regality that is Queen. Unquestionably one of the greatest bands in the world, I was fortunate to see them twice (76,77) in central England as a youth and man those concerts are still at the forefront of my memory. Freddie was unique in as much as he knew the limitations of his voice ‘live’ so switched octaves with ease. Brian May and his amazing home built guitar did things that electronic music could only dream about, Roger Taylor played and sang like a man possessed and John Deacon…. Well John was John.
Some great albums there and a very fair ranking indeed. There was some cr*p but not much over the years thank the lord.

He was Awesome for this band! Do not get me wrong, Some of their songs are GREAT!.. Bohemian Rhapsody is one of the greatest hard rock songs of all time! But most of their stuff is just Bleh for me, IMHO. Their early stuff is the Good songs, when they were kind of proggy! The rest is just kind of Pop Blah.. QUEEN went down hill faster than Genesis in POP Blah shit"!

I was of course weened at the teat of The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert, Live at Wembley and the use of One Vision in Iron Eagle, and We are the Champions in Revenge of the Nerds #JohnnyLawrencePlayList lol

Where do I even begin!? Queen were the first classic rock band I ever liked. I wouldn't consider them prog but rather prog influenced. And even though I HATED the bo rhap movie, I do still have a long history with them.
2015 was my first phase. I hardly remember anything that wasn't Queen/Queen related I listened to that year. I got into them by sheer chance and my favorite album at the time was Innuendo. I was obsessed with the flamenco part on the title track. In hindsight with YES being my current #1, I feel like my ignorance of Howe has come back to haunt me. I chose to believe Brian did that guitar part! My brain hadn't yet developed then, so I was such a purist....(add to that, remembering instances when I came in contact with things that I would eventually love later in life fascinates me)
2021 was my 2nd phase (brought about by nostalgia reasons). I connected with other queenies online and at the time some of them were getting into a little band called GENESIS....eventually I joined their number, and that is when I finally gave prog a chance.
So not only do Queen continue to define my 7th and 8th grade years but they were the indirect gateway to the prog that has encapsulated me for the past year and a half!
At the time Genesis took over, my Queen top 3 was the last 3: The Miracle, Innuendo, and Made in Heaven. Rounding out the top 5 were Sheer Heart Attack and Jazz. And strangely enough I only had one favorite member the whole time: ROGER!
I feel the urge to talk now about my history with prog.....even though its short but I do have the memory of a tarkus

I see no reason why Queen couldn't be considered prog. They pushed the boundaries of rock by combining it with opera and classical music, and the production techniques they used for vocal layering were way ahead of their time. They also managed to do something that many "official" prog bands didn't, in that they got one of their proggiest pieces (Bohemian Rhapsody) to become a hit single without editing it to death.

The Miracle and The Works above Innuendo? To me the latter has much more depth and would be much higher in my ranking.

"He says he know you." I predicted your top 7 ranking perfectly. My wife and I played a game. "Let's guess Scott's ranking." She owes me my pick of any 2023 prog album.
    I was 11 for 14. She went 8 for 14.

Yes sir. Even Made In Heaven and Hot Space. Even the Flash Gordon soundtrack is fun.

Sheer Heart Attack is Queen at their very best.
    Queen 2 a close second.

Did you know that critics accused Queen of using synthesisers on their first album? Stupid critics, it was actually Brian's guitar 😂
Until they released the game, they made sure to put "nobody played synthesiser" on the albums.

I thought I was the only one who felt A Day at the races was a HUGE let down. It's too soft. Too much filler.

I was so excited when it came out. Felt like a rush job follow up to a surprise hit. Maybe that’s why News Of The World sounded so good to me - my expectations were quite low at that point…
