I remember being on GUARD DUTY at various RM establishments at home and abroad, and the Duty Sergeant would call out the roster of names, detail you beat area, after which he would say: YOU WILL PATROL YOUR BEAT WITH SUSPICIOUS ALERTNESS, FULLY CONSCIOUS OF THE FACT THAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LIVES AND SAFETY OF MEN - AND OF GOVERNMENT STORES............It has stayed with me for nearly seventy years !
We did that on grass in a Army camp for a Dr. Bernardo’s Orphans Fund the Army said they could not do it on grass and as a finale we fired 3 shots in the air and scores of kids ran onto pick up the spent shells 😂
