We believe it should. The 2014 pre LCI F30 shown in the video likely has the same console trim as a 2013 (there were only two available in pre LCI, both very similar: www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=3C13-USA-05-2013-F30-BMW-328i&diagId=51_8534) and we didn't need to modify anything at all to replace it. If anything it would probably require very minimal effort to make it fit. BMW's are like legos for the most part.
I recently fitted my 2015 pre-LCI F30 with the LCI F30 cupholder. I have a Pixel 4 and I do not use a case in my phones. The phone slips out of the charger within few seconds of driving! May be it would have worked if I had a heavier phone with a non slippery back - I cannot think of any such phone! Ideally, this would have been the best solution because I have wireless Android Auto. Though the wireless charger was of no use, at least I like the aesthetics of the LCI cupholder so it was not a failure in it's entirety!

Thanks for great tutorial! One additional remark which would have helped me. That little black 2 pin connector is locked at the backside. If I used a small screwdriver between connector and socket at the backside to loosen it, it doesn’t break when you pull it.

Hey! The silicon mat grips your phone to prevent it from sliding out while driving, plus it is very convenient to keep the charger clean in case you spill any liquid since it is just behind the cupholders ;)
I think it should be mentioned that the LCI panels (especially new ones) sometimes are sold without the key fob antenna so it'll be important to switch that over from the old one. Saves the trouble finding out why there's a connector that does not plug anywhere 😄
Would be awesome if there was a magnetized version of this wireless charger so that iPhones w/ magsafe and android with magsafe cases could be held in place securely. :)
Hey, I've just picked up a 21 plate 2 series gran coupe. But it has the phone holder and no wireless charging, just wondered if you did a kit for that one yet?
Against your recommendation I did not disconnect the battery to do the retrofit. I almost killed my battery (saw the "recharge battery" message after the installation. I finally got it to start but my key fob is now not recognized - I have to hold it next to the steering column to start the car. Other than that it opens and closes the doors remotely no problem. Blown fuse or is it just connected with low battery?
Hi! It's possible that the metal plate on the back of your phone could interfere with wireless charging. Wireless charging uses electromagnetic fields to transfer energy from the charger to your device, and a metal plate can disrupt those fields.
They're about 6cm by 20cm or around 2.3"x 7.8". If you have a really big phone is still doesn't necessarily have to fit as a whole on the charger - as long as the QI coils line up it will work. Of course we can't guarantee a specific case.

Your car powers down most of the devices after around 10-15 minutes with the key taken at least 50 feet away. Until then the car will be in a stand by mode.

Turning off the light might be done in two ways. You can check the settings in the iDrive menu. There should be a possibility to force them to be off. The second is performing the full lock of the car - so the standby mode will be an intermittent state. This can be done by locking the car for at least 15 minutes and simultaneously having the car keys 10 meters away from the car. This will ensure that no power will be delivered to any unit, so the light will be off.

Just tried this with a 2014 F30 320i and I cannot get the panel to snap back in. It's always sticking to far towards the driver for the clips to snap in. Super frustrating. Not sure what I am doing wrong. The wires are out of the way, but it will not clip in properly. Uggghhhhh!!!! [EDIT] This DOES NOT work on the 2014 BMW F30 320i. The clips are slightly out of place and the unit is a few mm too long. I tried 100 different ways and could not get it to snap in. The 320i OEM unit snapped back into place just fine, but not the 2017 F30 LCI model. Cables were not the issue, as I placed them in dozen different ways. Really sucks, because I was so looking forward to it. Almost $200 spent for nothing. :( :(

It depends on your phone usage during charging. If you'll drain your battery with GPS and CarPlay the charging can take longer. But in general it shouldn't be slower than 1% on 1,5-2 minutes.

Hey. If you have disconnected your battery during the install, you might need to initialize your steering angle sensor. Power cycle your car a couple of times, also make sure to turn your steering wheel lock to lock a couple of times while power cycling the car. The sign should go away. Alternatively you can use a code scanner to erase the code.
At this position I don’t have a good look on my phone and can press on it or use Face ID to unlock. There are many other smartphone holder there are better as this solution. 😉 and when I am drifting it flows away 🙄
The unit that you removed from the car is different from the one you installed !!! The first is for the 2012 model until 2014 and the second is for the 2015 model and above.. Why deception???
We've mentioned in the video that the wireless charger doesn't fit to the center console with cup holders from pre LCI models - and that's why we've changed it for a new console without the cup holders.

Seems like I gotta cut the back of the center console in order for it to fit my car. I have a 2015 435i.
Some of the Pre-LCI models require trim cuts to the center console, which are invisible after installing the LCI cup holder.

No, if you're careful, but at your own risk. You don't need to unplug the idrive panel either, just put it to one side.

After installation, warning sign for stability malfunction, is this normal.?
Hey. If you have disconnected your battery during the install, you might need to initialize your steering angle sensor. Power cycle your car a couple of times, also make sure to turn your steering wheel lock to lock a couple of times while power cycling the car. The sign should go away. Alternatively you can use a code scanner to erase the code.
At this position I don’t have a good look on my phone and can press on it or use Face ID to unlock. There are many other smartphone holder there are better as this solution. 😉 and when I am drifting it flows away 🙄
Not that big of a deal when you have wireless CarPlay ;). Seems like we attract a lot of drifters with this video ;)

The unit that you removed from the car is different from the one you installed !!! The first is for the 2012 model until 2014 and the second is for the 2015 model and above..
Why deception???
We've mentioned in the video that the wireless charger doesn't fit to the center console with cup holders from pre LCI models - and that's why we've changed it for a new console without the cup holders.
