Thank you Ben, very nice work. I Lived in Trehafod myself for some time so very interesting to see just how big the network was during the coal era. The network today is so much different it's hard to visualise the change without these videos. The amount of lines just after leaving Trehafod is impressive, not sure if this what was called the "Barry sidings". A lot work goes into these routes and a big thanks for taking that time to recreate this route for us. I know what the signalling is like in the simulator and how "iffy" they can be so not going to say anything about home signals etc. Cheers Ben love it 👍
Excellent map as ever. If you ever need to look at detailed photos of the lines you've been covering before they were taken up, I've literally 1000s of colour photos that represent the life's work of an old friend of mine. The photos are so good that they're now used by the railway authorities to reference what they're responsible for. He has a soft spot for the Barry Railway & Western signalling in particular & I'd love to show him these routes on the PC. Keep up the good work
Ben, enjoy your train rides, but your signalling is not accurate, where they have a yellow distant signal and it is clear, the next 3 or 4 signals will only be home signals. You cannot have 2 distant signals one after another. When the distant is clear, it indicates that all the home signals are clear. Steve Davies networkrail.
Yes I'm aware of the signalling errors. The ones in the simulator are very finicky. Some times they'll work correctly other times they won't. It would take far too long to keep re-recording several journeys in the hope that the signals will behave themselves. Thanks for your input though 👍
This one passed me by so very pleased to have caught up with it. My favourite part of the Barry Railway, the mainline.

Thanks for that. Maybe you could open a free Flickr account and scan and upload the photos there, so everyone can enjoy them? Cheers 😁
Another nice project from South Wales there Ben. Well done! I expected to see some coal trains and 56xx locos ?
Yes I should have included a few, although when playing the game myself I have taken a 56XX and 60 empties from Cadoxton to Trehafod 😁
@ 5:31 should that be Tonteg Halt not Tondu halt?
Well spotted!! I feel an edit coming on 🙄
Tondu Halt or Tonteg Halt?
@@rhobatbrynjones7374 Tonteg 🙄 (error during production)
