Honestly all of the Plantera drops feel underwhelming at this point. It doesn't feel like the boss is a genuine step in progression anymore, rather being just an obstacle keeping you from the dungeon/temple/eclipse/moons where the real gear is.
personally i find it pretty ironic how not only plantera but also golem AND cultist offer no essential upgrades, other than few exceptionally good accesories from golem. yeah and the pickaxe. and despite all that the late game still feels so very rushed where you basically upgrade from post mech/fishron gear to pillars'. imo the whole late game needs a redesign, slow the pace down and let each boss have a rewarding drop pool (yes, including the cultist). mechas are slowly paced because there are limited conditions to spawn them and they are very challenging when underprepared, then you get to plantera and you're kinda forced to wait for more bulbs to spawn, prepare the arena, collect chlorophyte and life flowers... and then you get to golem, bully him and rush to cultist to again, bully him, just so you can get best pre-ml weapons from the pillars and then use them to prepare for the moon lord - this is the most optimal way. or you can attempt to slightly slow it down and fight all the optional bosses and raids/events without the best available weapons, but it's not an actual solution by any means
As a fan of the wasp gun, I do think it needs a slight buff so that it’s at least usable against more than the first few waves of the events. Give it 40 base damage and 15 armor piercing (and maybe make the wasps move faster) and it would actually be a force to be reckoned with in terms of multi-target DPS…but alas, the Wasp Gun remains a more of a gimmick weapon when compared to its competitors

The Influx Waiver used to be a valid competitor against the Terra Blade, but now it's abandoned because, while it's still TECHNICALLY more useful for single targets, the Terra Blade's DPS puts IW to shame so there's no point. The Wasp Gun is another example, as is the Magic Missile because when you get it is also when you get access to shadow chests and therefore the Flamelash, so the missile doesn't have long before it becomes obsolete
@@TheGreatCyberwolf there’s actually a fix for both weapons. For the influx waver, give the it the same treatment as the terrablade and allow it to fire projectiles faster based on melee attack speed. For the Magic Missile, give it super aggressive homing and give it 5 armor penetration.

So regarding the Hive Pack, if Relogic had it to where the Hive Pack was buffed to do more stuff where it would be worth using as an accessory slot (and having more hardmode wasp-related items in general so that all classes could benefit equally from it), it would be much better. As the game progresses each accessory slot you have increases in value and it becomes important which accessories you loadout with. And as of right now I really do not think its worth giving up a valuable slot especially post-Plantera just for powering up the Wasp Gun which is quickly outclassed by the frost moon, pumpkin moon and dungeon mage weapons that arent so accessory dependent.
It'd be much cooler if it were a post mech boss item, being craftable with a bee gun, some hallowed bars, and maybe some other jungle materials They could also just rework it entirely and make it a summoner item which would be cool too
I think it would actually work out really well if it was craftable using a bee gun, megashark (this would explain wasp gun's high damage and fire rate), and souls of fright
My first ever Mage playthrough and first ever Expert mode run, the Bee Gun was one of my favourites Pre-hardmode and I was so excited to get this. The disappontment in me could probably be tasted in the air.
I love Bee Pistol and Wasp Gun, and I'm thinking maybe try boosting the speed of Wasp Gun so it shoots a bit weaker but a lot more wasps? It would be even more fun, and maybe even make it more viable at dealing with groups?
tip:build areana pre hardmode and setup peace candles and sun flowers to reduce the spawn rate (you can turn of the candles and remove sun flowers if you are planning on farming) and also make sure that the floor is not full of jungle plants so plantera bulb grow
I think the Calamity mod makes great use of the Wasp Gun, merging it with the Bee Gun after you beat the vortex pillar to make the Swarmer, maybe the base game could do something similar to this because I personally feel it to be a good use for an obsolete weapon.

An alternative to the huge plant arena is using the jungle temple. If you mine a tunnel around the temple and then run in circles around the temple then you can easily make a simpler arena. IDK why im putting this here
Yeah, I frames needs to be changed if the wasp's need a speed buff to keep up with fast moving bosses, like make it not that fast, but just the right amount to keep up, like even after the buffs, it still struggles on Duke Fishron when I used it
0:29 I do believe the bat Scepter has a major flaw of not being able to attack around corners. Correct me if im wrong but Bats can't hit multiple enemies either.
ngl i wish there was a critter subclass for mage that encompasses and expands on the bee/wasp gun and bat scepter, theyre just such cool weapons but not very deep aside from a simple hive pack
Someone gotta make a mod (which isn't calamity) that adds some bosses before the pillars, where you can utilise all these new weapons. The weapons from pumking and snow moon, the dungeon, maybe even golem. They all just gotta add some bosses that are a treat and not just easy like the lunatic cultist or golem. You can't use any weapons after plantera dimply because progression is so fast and small. You can't use chain gun for moon lord, or any other weapon simply because you have the pillar weapons. And to grind frost/pumpkin moon for nice and cool weapons just for them to be completely redundant after cultist is something really sad for me.
Perhaps it should be renamed to The Swarm and fire lots of bees (with less I-frames and higher rate of fire, similar to the Last Prism's converged beam), giving the Hive Pack a post-Plantera niche. Edit: Ah, it's already boosted by Hive Pack. Still want to see this rework, though

Tbh, never used both this and bat scepter. For this point in the game I mostly looking for farming the specter set than It is frost moon for razorpine, than it is Duke for typhon, and we all know you are all set for endgame.
Would be bether if the bee gun got nerfed and changed to a hornat drop or a bee drop and have the hornat gun bee a queen bee drop that way u atleast use it a bit

as of 1.3.5 plantera bulb can destroy world plants. no need to destroy those anymore.
