    Damn, I'm in the process of installing a thermostat and decided to check out a video prior just because. I never knew about that little vent hole. I've played with it with my finger but never knew it should be facing up.

      Hello Scott! That component helps to get the air pockets out of the engine or as we call it burp air out. Also, this helps small amount of coolant to get by and always to have circulation through the cooling system and help or prevent static flow. Take well care Scott!

      @elchanojose4633 thanks for the info. I finished installing my new thermostat shortly after my last post. I went to check the positioning of the vent hole on my old thermostat. By luck I positioned it at the 11 o'clock position. Bit I'm good now. No leaks.

    It should be 12:00. The jiggle pin also helps bleed the vehicle

    I usually drill a hole on the lil pin, did it on a dodge car and work perfect. Now i did it on a pontiac vibe and the car buble alot so i install the factory thermostat...

    So the little metal thing has to be open?

    • @elchanojose
      @elchanojose  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello! The metal does not have to be open, it would be good and helpful to sit at the highest point when installation. Also, keep in mind that the thermostat be installed in the right way for it to operate properly. Take well care!

    i just bought a thermostat for my jeep compass but it didnt come with that silver piece in the hole???

    • @elchanojose
      @elchanojose  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello! Some thermostats are not made the same. Some are made different but still work. The only advantage of that little silver valve is to allow air trapped to move by when the thermostat is close. This helps the engine to burp air out and fill the space with coolant. Take well care!

    Is it hard to install one ?? Just asking cuz I took mine to the shop and it’s been 2 days 😅😅

    • @elchanojose
      @elchanojose  ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Hello Miguel! A thermostat is not that hard to replace. Some cars require more labor than other but 2 or 3 days is too much time for this kind of job. The reason on why your car is taking too long for a thermostat replacement, is probably because the shop has other cars that are being worked on and your car is sitting there until a spot is available. Take well care Miguel!

      @@M.Qambarbro. It takes like 20 minutes or less to replace a thermostat. On this type of car.

    • @M.Qambar
      @M.Qambar ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @gta4162 Yeah, that's true for me and you, but the original comment obviously doesn't know much about cars so it'll take them longer + i was talking about cars in general not just about this one because some would need a lot more work just to change a thermostat

    • @elroco4827
      @elroco4827 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s super easy. If you have the funds to pay the shop and you don’t feel like fooling with, then take it to the shop. But if you want to save money, do it yourself. I do a lot of maintenance myself. I’ve learned a lot by watching many TH-cam videos.

    • @elchanojose
      @elchanojose  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Hello! Not all thermostats are made the same. Some vehicles have been equipped with thermostats that don’t have the small hole or valve. If your thermostat is just full face metal with no hole, it’s ok and is going to work fine but just install it on the right orientation. Take well care!

  • @user-xh2jz6jc4q
