These driver reviews are as good as equipment reviews get. Even more valuable than irons I'd suggest given that I imagine more people replace drivers more frequently than irons. Awesome work!
Thanks very much for the kind feedback, we have actually got something coming that may well push the reviews to another notch with understanding how well the Driver in question performs not just from a front to back dispersion point of view but also from a Left to Right miss under perfect delivery conditions and just the horizontal miss from miss strikes 👍
Best looking ping driver ever! Love the chrome on the bottom looks much better than the cheap silver and green paint before looked like the kid painted a golf club. This looks much more classy and quality. Chrome makes everything look nice! Great review.
Hello Jay! Thank you for this review and all the work you do. Your review approach is unique and indispensable for the golf community The heat map analysis is a total game changer for those considering a purchase AND for those golfers that may already have the particular club. Please consider an Ancestral Review comparison series. I really want to know how the new G440 Max compares to the G430 Max from 2 years ago. I personally have fallen into the trap of “it’s new, therefore it MUST be better” fallacy. Your channel can help us better consider upgrades based on more than the marketing gimmick for the moment. Also, thank to you, I picked up the Mizuno Pro 245s this past year (however staying with the P790 for 6, 5, and 4 irons).
HI Earnest, happily look at doing something like that although its quite difficult to get hold of the old heads that haven't been bashed about and potentially seeing performance differences. For instance, if the old head performed actually quite bad, did it perform bad or did I just have a head that's seen its best before date some time ago whilst another equally seemingly identical head on ebay may well perform actually perfectly fine....... 🤔🤔🤔🤔👍
I understand about finding the older heads…however you have jut unlocked a new nightmare. Performance of a driver head diminishes over time?! I guess it makes logical sense but tons of questions about how to know when your driver is declining in performance? I’ve been hitting my G430Max almost every day in my home simulator since I bought it 2 years ago.
So commonly the face actually gets faster but with dinks and knocks swing weights inside the head can come loose (rattling) and then re-adhere that sends the CG sometimes a little off. Sometimes depending on the previous fitting the head has been built on a different persons swing weight requirements etc... The list goes on. Always better to get a raw new head...... from somewhere 😊
Just picked up the Mizuno Max. Tried the ping, and there was little to no difference big enough that justified the +$350 more in price. I liked the look of the Mizuno better as well, I thought the chrome on the bottom of the ping made it look cheap.
For anyone else reading, I would personally recommend a used G425 LST or G430 LST. They are both awesome and performance gains per year are not worth 2x the price
Hi Jay, thanks for the comment. I haven't reached out to Krank for any medial samples, but would happily test and review them at 80, 95 and 110 mph for all levels of golfers to see how it works..... Just need to get my hands on one 👍
Sounds like you would lean toward the LST over the MAX for players >115 mph/X-flex then? Just curious because most reviews put the MAX and LST very close to each other in performance and forgiveness, even at higher speeds
Great video as always Jay! I think the ping LsT is a great option for me actually. Would be interesting to see the forgiveness test across the face with the back weight in the different positions if you haven’t done that already? If you are a toe striker, how much does moving that weight out actually help.. and hurt heel strikes, etc.
Great review as always Jay. Any chance you might review the srixzon zxi fairway. All the other TH-cam review crew can’t rate it highly enough but they don’t go into the depth you do. Thanks in advance.
Nice review Jay.Seems like LST and Max is comparable close in forgiveness this year. Just a quick question what make and model is that golf bag behind you in beige with green edgings ? It looks lovely.
Bit of a no win answer coming im afraid, If the Alta is already performing well for you meaning that shaft profile matches you , a more "premium" shaft witht he same profile wont change anything. If the Alta isnt a good match for you then theres no real guide as to what will work for you so youd be looking at a shaft fitting session.
This looks a nice option as it's LST but has some forgiveness. How would you say it compares to the Callaway Epic Max LS, particularly on heel strikes?
Compared to the G430 LST does it spin more/ less or the same? Also, I felt like the 430 lst was quite heavy swingweight (headweights are heavy), does this feel the same or a bit lighter? Thanks
Hi Nick, I'll be reviewing them when they come in.... Unfortunately I'm tier two like most of the medium sized TH-camrs are so will be interesting to see what they have brought to the market for 2025 👍
I picked up a used G430 LST recently quite cheap but the reviews of these have been different to that of the G425 to G430 change. Holding out for comparison videos but Ping videos probably don’t do very well for viewing stats so they are slow to come.
Sorry...a bit late in asking... After last years hoohaa about MOI, do any of these new Ping drivers get anywhere near thst 'magical' 10k figure of whatever it was thats sooo important?
Effectively yes they are in and around 10K, slightly over or slightly under but basically 10K. The issue is with the whole MOI train is that all it does is measure resistance to twist.... In actual terms it has very little to do with the 'forgiveness' of a driver. Unlike an iron where forgiveness is basically retention of ball speed from off centre strikes, because with a flat faced iron, retention of ball speed is correlative to distance. In a wood where we have curved faces, roll and bulge, retention of speed isn't anywhere near as important and correct vertical and horizontal gearing from off centre strikes. For instance, a miss slightly high on the face would normally see an increased launch angle and a reduced spin rate and thus producing a flight that in some occasions is actually more efficient for creating distance. If high on the face had as high an efficiency as the middle then the high strike shot would actually go further than one struck from the middle. Multiply that by the 9 location mishits on drivers and actually you'll see quite quickly that it absolutely has more to do with the retention of optimal launch condition and spin consistency than MOI resistance to twist ever does. 👍
Hi Andy, thanks for the comment. If you log into Discord on the link within tmy most recent videos description, I'll happily share with you the data in picture format that showcases the differences within the heads swung within a very small margin of error 👍 (youtube is terrible for being able to interactively reply 👍)
Comparing the green spot for retained distance it seems the LST is more forgiving than the max. Would the LST be more forgiving? I game the 430 LST, the differences , I imagine are fairly low?
I think going forward I may have to stop using the forgiving word although that's what most golfers understand it by as that's the buzz word used by manufacturers, but it's more consistency and a club consistency of its ability to retain a consistent distance and dispersion from off centre strikes. The Max may have a better efficiency map but the distance factor map is better, this is mainly due to low and toe strike performance. Heel wise the Max and LST are largely identical. Manufacturers tend to use efficiency or ball speed retention as a measure of forgiveness, that works well on a flat faced iron but when Roll and Bulge is introduced (curved faces) and the gear effect generated, means a raw efficiency map won't actually show how a club does at hitting the same or very similar distance number from miss hits... Hence why the Distance Factor map is utilised 👍
Normally you probably would but as I'm not affected by shaft weight or bend profile it wouldn't show any difference to the data within. The same shaft was used for a 30mph speed difference which is massive and there is basically no difference in delivery between that vast speed differential. I'm lucky that I'm not affected by shaft and swing weight differences as it allows me to do these different swing speed tests and isolate the head and how it performs at different speeds 👍
Your reviews are top notch …always come to your channel just prior to a new purchase.
Just need 100k more golfers to do the same 😊 that would make the effort going into to making this level of data much more worth while 😊👍

Can you please do a heat map &
Analysis of the Krank driver X. X is for 95 club head speed. 🙏🏼
Hi Jay, thanks for the comment. I haven't reached out to Krank for any medial samples, but would happily test and review them at 80, 95 and 110 mph for all levels of golfers to see how it works..... Just need to get my hands on one 👍
Mid-High Toe Heaven right there! Great video, I can't wait to compare to others on the charts.
MAX, SFT and LST Heat Maps all on the website www.askgolfnut.com to compare against 👍
Sounds like you would lean toward the LST over the MAX for players >115 mph/X-flex then? Just curious because most reviews put the MAX and LST very close to each other in performance and forgiveness, even at higher speeds
Thanks for the video. Will you be doing a detailed review on the new Taylormade qi35 driver line-up?
Great video as always Jay! I think the ping LsT is a great option for me actually.

best in the biz, excited to see this one

Can you do a comparison with this and the Titleist 3?
Great review.
G430 max 10.5" cb alta 55 reg. I understand there are many variables but what would be a natural shaft upgrade for this stock shaft

Understood. Just wanted to “pimp it up a bit .
This looks a nice option as it's LST but has some forgiveness. How would you say it compares to the Callaway Epic Max LS, particularly on heel strikes?
Hi there, please do a review on Mizuno JPX 925 forge vs srixon zxi 5? Thank you
Is the Srixon ZXI iron review coming soon soon?
As soon as I receive my samples I will get on reviewing them 👍
Compared to the G430 LST does it spin more/ less or the same? Also, I felt like the 430 lst was quite heavy swingweight (headweights are heavy), does this feel the same or a bit lighter?
Thanks
I got it today, the head feels lighter and faster
Seems like Ping know the low heel will lose distance so they make it hotter? Is that right?
Hi jay. Have you reviewed the cobra adapt x driver
Hi Nick, I'll be reviewing them when they come in.... Unfortunately I'm tier two like most of the medium sized TH-camrs are so will be interesting to see what they have brought to the market for 2025 👍
Oh ok. Be looking forward to your review. Thank you. Going to be hard to beat last years dark speed X

G430 LST vs G440 LST...worth the upgrade?
That’s what I wanna know. The 430lst was way better for me than the. 425 lst
I got it today, I’d say absolutely
@ damnit I’m gonna check it out on the day it’s in stores
I’ve seen other reviews and distance compared to the max and there was barely any difference.
Hi Andy, thanks for the comment. Comparing the green spot for retained distance it seems the LST is more forgiving than the max. Would the LST be more forgiving?
