    Hello Penolopie, I just watched your video and I want to add that making daily documents not only has the benefits you've already mentioned. But for those who are starting their journey with RemNote, it's also a super way to "force" themselves to learn and have a smaller learning curve with this amazing tool. I've been watching your videos and they are really good, I hope you keep this great work! Greetings from Brazil

      You're right, Renato -- I didn't think of that before 🤔 thanks for sharing! Do you mainly use RemNote for studying or pkm now?
      Glad you like my videos. I appreciate your support!!

    Love this. The Daily Document acts as the hub for all my notes. Mitigates the need for folders and organisation, exactly how our brains work.
    And no, it doesn't get messy. Like you've shown here, using references and tags can keep it all organised!

      Yesss! So glad I realized this even though later than everyone else haha

      So references and tags over trying to use a title to categorise the notes. (I'm new to Remnote)

      Thank you! And that's amazing -- do you use it the same way as I do or do you have a different approach?

    hi penenolied , is it possible to make a video for making universal descriptors ? I have been searching everywhere, but non seems to me explain me clearly how to do it ? (or if they do, it's with an old version). Many thanks

    Basically, this is me realizing Daily Docs is the central hub on RemNote lol
    ⏰ TIMESTAMPS:
    0:00 Intro
    0:21 I didn't understand what the purpose of daily notes are
    1:07 I used to think it's not intuitive
    1:33 Reason 1 - Daily Documents mirror my thoughts
    2:03 Add to-do list
    2:44 Acts as brain dump
    2:53 Bi-directional linking in RemNote
    3:18 Add references and tags
    4:44 Reason 2 - Daily Documents are efficient
    5:22 Reason 3 - Great for diary entries

    You have a great channel. I think though your volume should be higher. Your channel is consistently and substantially at a lower recorded volume than almost all other channels I watch. So I am at 100% volume on my speaker as well as on my youtube volume slider. Maybe up the level a bit.

    Hello Peno, are there any benefits of Roam over RemNote?

  • @acswellness

    Just dowloaded Remnote and already creating a fresh document for everything. I tried using daily docs but didn't get it. I hope you can make it clearer for me by the end of this video.

    Hi! Thanks for your content. I'm very used to folder-organizing scheme, so this video was mind-changing. I'm curious about how you categorize all this daily-documents stuff afterwards... Maybe a future video? Greetings from South America.

    Find that the Daily Documents are quite powerful in any app that uses them. Especially if you are more inclined to create notes through the bottom up approach where you're more focused on the note taking vs the note organizing. Though there are overlaps. If you are using the bottom up & presumably backlinking this is the glue to interconnect things vs having pockets of ideas here & there. The top down has the tree but the bidirectional shoots off in a way that allows you to connect things before you decide if a rem should be elevated to a reference or stub status
    depending upon your use case you can also see your thoughts as they grow, a way to see patterns emerging, etc

    • @penolopied
      @penolopied  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I couldn't have said it better myself. It's the backlinking and tags that are game-changer. I've been there before where I would put an idea on a specific folder to feel "organized". But more often than not, that idea is connected to 3 other ideas. Better late than never in realizing this !

    • @thebadjer8249
      @thebadjer8249 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@penolopied Exactly. Folders work fine when the ideas are small or work nice in silo. Such as school where your syllabus is laid out for you. Backlinking is quite powerful when your ideas overlap or your knowledge base becomes quite large
      Yes, hard to realize until you really dive into the backlinks. I use an app where this is the default. I did not think there was much value but after using constantly now I see the benefit. LOL if the option does not exist in an app I won't even look any further at that point in time

    • @penolopied
      @penolopied  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True haha I didn't see the point of daily notes either before but now, it saves me so much time and energy (because of context switching) in capturing quick thoughts

    Hi Penolopie!
    Is this feature only available in RemNote Pro? I am trying out the free version and I don't see this option for referencing a word.
    Would you also recommend using this for jotting down notes for school or is it mostly useful for passing thoughts?
    Thanks!

    Penelopie, you do a great job translating the magnificent world of RN to the plain English. The question that is nagging me (and sorry if it's stupid, I am just beginning) is: do you move sometimes the rems from daily docs to the more organized docs? Or is it just tagging, referencing, etc. If I learn how to code it's very nice to have my rems in the daily order (in the beginning), it makes repetition of the material easier. But than, I would like to have my "reference book" - arrays, objects, etc. So I would like to make some structure of it. But it seems like some kind of no-no in the RN world.

    • @penolopied
      @penolopied  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      thank youuu! i personally wouldn't move them. i would just copy rem reference or create portals to the "more organize docs". you're right! we can certainly personalize RN more if we know how to code. can you explain to me further what you wanna do with the "reference book"?

    • @mateuszb4387
      @mateuszb4387 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@penolopied it's not like "RN hacking", just some JS, react and node stuff. When I do a course or dig into some concept I like to annotate it in my "personal dev book" for the future reference. It's just glorified notes, I am just obsessed with organizing this stuff, but it may be like they say "premature optimization is the root of all evil" :-)

    • @penolopied
      @penolopied  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah of course just to customize it! ahaha no all good you do you 😆

    • @michaelmanti
      @michaelmanti 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like to start writing most rems in the daily doc, and then moving them elsewhere with Shift+Command+M. RemNote will leave a portal in the daily doc. This way, you can have a diary showing what you were working on each day, and you can also have a reference book that is organized by topic (or whatever dimension you prefer).
