I plan to buy Leatherman Rebar but my concern is the shorter jaw on the plier than, say, a Wingman or Original Wave. Can you make a video of rebar testing out the plier head to turn bolts and stuff and how big of a bolt it can grip. Thanks

Absolutely fantastic! I couldn't decide between getting the leatherman wave or the leatherman surge, this video has convinced me that the surge is the way to go! This thing looks indestructible.
I actually love the way you do your videos, it allows the viewer to become intellectually involved vs just get youtube fast food. Also your videos are a bit of ASMR, for me at least. If you wanted to foster that have a nice blonde whispering along into the microphone as you demonstrate your tools....any any case I did get the ASMR effect with your video. Great tool set.

I have been using a Surge for some years at work, and it is a great knife, BUT: The ballistic nylon sheath is crap. The Hook-and-loop tape wears out after a few months of daily use, so I have been reduced to using elastic bands to hold the flap closed. Not good enough, when they supply leather cases with hard wearing poppers to close the flap on other knives, also, the screw driver bits fall out too easily after a while and you loose them :-(. Yes, if you send it off for a service, they will probably replace the bit, but you loose the use of the knife for a while. This one looks better, as all the bits are kept in the case. I just MIGHT be tempted by this one.
May I suggest you a magnetic base flashlight? You can stick the blade in a tree and attach the flashlight to the blade in any angle you want, at any hight. I may suggest nitecore mt21c, tip2 and olight baton series.
Certainly you can! :) The lashlight used must fit easily in one of the lateral housing of the sheath: 14 mm in diameter, between 60 and 90 mm in length. In addition, it must be powered by an AAA battery that can be found easily. But the idea of the magnet is very interesting :)

Since i take u as my EDC Guru, n i watched some of your reviews about Surge, i've decided to bought my 1st Leatherman Surge 2019 a couple weeks ago. With some accesoories; replacement saw Makita (metal n wood), spare serrated blade, a rathet adaptor n a longer bit adaptor. At first, im considering 2 buy a Wave+. Or an OHT. Surge is way too fancy 4 me. But somehow, im ended with a Surge! Ha3x! Its very impressive knife. Wave maybe the best seller, OHT also amazing with its pliers deployment. But they cant take my eyes from Surge. I just forget 2 buy another thing; a pair of spare wire cutter. Is Surge's wire cutter is compatible with Wave's, sir? Its kinda a rare 2 find Surge's parts. Also expensive. I bought the spare serrated blade about usd 60. In my thought; atvthe same price (usd 60), i can buy a set of new Roxon S802 with its replacemet blades! 😅

Diezelle, I just got another Surge today another black one. As far as I'm concerned its the best general purpose multitool in the world but I keep losing them lol. I have noticed that on my black ones the fit and finnish has been better. Perfect even. Blades had a better grind with more even bevels, pliers are more centered, tools engage better with less play. Sharp edges seem more rounded and so forth. I'm thinking maybe more attention is paid to these in manufacturing or something. Is this also your experience or is it a pure coincidence? I have owned two of each (second generation all).
No, I did not notice any differences in finish between my old Surge (before 2013) and my new (after 2013) Surge black oxide. But since you just bought a new one, tell me if there is any play in the axis of the pliers and if it has a certain stiffness ...
@@diezelle57 There is no play in the axis and its much stiffer than most leatherman tools I have. It cannot be flicked open at this point like my last surge (silver), my wave, charge etc. and it takes alot of effort to close it one handed against the leg. The blade exchanger is especially stiff and hard to open and unlike on my other tools the saw blade will not just fall out when you open the exchanger - its in there tight, almost too tight. I'm sure it will break in with use as the coating wears down umder the washers but it seems a bit different than the one I had maybe 5 years ago.
@@TheKimjoh560 If you follow my channel, I touched on the delicate subject of the new Leatherman manufacturing processes which lead to stiffening the pliers to avoid game problems growing over time. The problem caused concerns the cutting of hard wire: the pliers tend to harden very strongly. I have returned my Free P4 for warranty for this reason. All new models more or less encounter this problem ...
These are the old Leatherman five-slot sheath for the Surge, 4.5 "size, and the molle sheath for the MUT (five slots) for example will be longer and probably as thick with the accessories ... less practice in my opinion.

Nice kit! I must ask you, do you carry on belt or in your car, or maybe in a locker where you work? I bought one 1year ago and now ill give it and a nitecore p30 to my brother, for his Ford Kuga. Its not too heavy for me but its too heavy for my belt, i wear belts a little loose. I just bought a skeletool cx as replacement, im aware its not match for surge, but its so lightweight and small.. Thats why i am curious if you are not tired of surge on belt.
Hey I would like to buy a surge, of course I checked a lot of reviews from a lot of websites one of those was Amazon and I found some really negative reviews with photos of the surge rusty or even broken (it was a full priced one 169€ ), but every other single website says that it's very durable and I don't know what to do, does Amazon simply sell fake garbage??? Do not panic. Rust signals carelessness and breakage, improper use. But Leatherman easily exchanges or replaces its products even when used by brutes :) As for Amazon, it reimburses very easily. I have never had to deal with dishonest sellers on this sales platform.

Non, franchement, je ne vois pas du tout comment adapter un tire-bouchon sur le Surge ou en insérer un dans l'étui ... mais ... attention! je viens de trouver ... merci d'avoir insister ! ... vous pouvez mettre le tir-bouchon du Victorinox dans la fente du clip de poche du Leatheman : cela ne tient pas bien mais cela marche. Bonjour. Oui, il s'agit d'un étui de la précédente gamme d'étuis de Leatherman. Pour le Surge, l'étui de 4.5" s'impose. Cet étui comprend cinq emplacement de rangement. Son seul problème était la mauvaise tenue du prolongateur dans l'une ou l'autre des gaines latérales. Ce défaut a été corrigé par Leatherman avec ses nouveaux étuis mais en supprimant la poche ventrale, ce qui est débile. Cet étui est devenu introuvable mais ... Le nouvel étui de nylon n'est pas adapté au Surge et étant vegan, je ne peux pas prendre d'étui en cuir. Je pense conserver ma configuration actuelle pour l'instant avec un étui pour le MT et un autre pour tous les accessoires. Moins pratique, certes, mais obtenir un étui de l'ancienne collection revient un peu cher. Merci encore et bonne continuation.

I actually love the way you do your videos, it allows the viewer to become intellectually involved vs just get youtube fast food. Also your videos are a bit of ASMR, for me at least. If you wanted to foster that have a nice blonde whispering along into the microphone as you demonstrate your tools....any any case I did get the ASMR effect with your video. Great tool set.

I have been using a Surge for some years at work, and it is a great knife, BUT: The ballistic nylon sheath is crap. The Hook-and-loop tape wears out after a few months of daily use, so I have been reduced to using elastic bands to hold the flap closed. Not good enough, when they supply leather cases with hard wearing poppers to close the flap on other knives, also, the screw driver bits fall out too easily after a while and you loose them :-(. Yes, if you send it off for a service, they will probably replace the bit, but you loose the use of the knife for a while. This one looks better, as all the bits are kept in the case.
I just MIGHT be tempted by this one.

May I suggest you a magnetic base flashlight? You can stick the blade in a tree and attach the flashlight to the blade in any angle you want, at any hight. I may suggest nitecore mt21c, tip2 and olight baton series.

The lashlight used must fit easily in one of the lateral housing of the sheath: 14 mm in diameter, between 60 and 90 mm in length. In addition, it must be powered by an AAA battery that can be found easily.
But the idea of the magnet is very interesting :)

Since i take u as my EDC Guru, n i watched some of your reviews about Surge, i've decided to bought my 1st Leatherman Surge 2019 a couple weeks ago. With some accesoories; replacement saw Makita (metal n wood), spare serrated blade, a rathet adaptor n a longer bit adaptor. At first, im considering 2 buy a Wave+. Or an OHT. Surge is way too fancy 4 me. But somehow, im ended with a Surge! Ha3x! Its very impressive knife. Wave maybe the best seller, OHT also amazing with its pliers deployment. But they cant take my eyes from Surge. I just forget 2 buy another thing; a pair of spare wire cutter. Is Surge's wire cutter is compatible with Wave's, sir? Its kinda a rare 2 find Surge's parts. Also expensive. I bought the spare serrated blade about usd 60. In my thought; atvthe same price (usd 60), i can buy a set of new Roxon S802 with its replacemet blades! 😅

Diezelle, I just got another Surge today another black one. As far as I'm concerned its the best general purpose multitool in the world but I keep losing them lol. I have noticed that on my black ones the fit and finnish has been better. Perfect even. Blades had a better grind with more even bevels, pliers are more centered, tools engage better with less play. Sharp edges seem more rounded and so forth. I'm thinking maybe more attention is paid to these in manufacturing or something. Is this also your experience or is it a pure coincidence? I have owned two of each (second generation all).
No, I did not notice any differences in finish between my old Surge (before 2013) and my new (after 2013) Surge black oxide. But since you just bought a new one, tell me if there is any play in the axis of the pliers and if it has a certain stiffness ...
@@diezelle57 There is no play in the axis and its much stiffer than most leatherman tools I have. It cannot be flicked open at this point like my last surge (silver), my wave, charge etc. and it takes alot of effort to close it one handed against the leg. The blade exchanger is especially stiff and hard to open and unlike on my other tools the saw blade will not just fall out when you open the exchanger - its in there tight, almost too tight.
I'm sure it will break in with use as the coating wears down umder the washers but it seems a bit different than the one I had maybe 5 years ago.
@@TheKimjoh560 If you follow my channel, I touched on the delicate subject of the new Leatherman manufacturing processes which lead to stiffening the pliers to avoid game problems growing over time. The problem caused concerns the cutting of hard wire: the pliers tend to harden very strongly. I have returned my Free P4 for warranty for this reason. All new models more or less encounter this problem ...

These are the old Leatherman five-slot sheath for the Surge, 4.5 "size, and the molle sheath for the MUT (five slots) for example will be longer and probably as thick with the accessories ... less practice in my opinion.

Nice kit! I must ask you, do you carry on belt or in your car, or maybe in a locker where you work? I bought one 1year ago and now ill give it and a nitecore p30 to my brother, for his Ford Kuga. Its not too heavy for me but its too heavy for my belt, i wear belts a little loose. I just bought a skeletool cx as replacement, im aware its not match for surge, but its so lightweight and small..

Hey I would like to buy a surge, of course I checked a lot of reviews from a lot of websites one of those was Amazon and I found some really negative reviews with photos of the surge rusty or even broken (it was a full priced one 169€ ), but every other single website says that it's very durable and I don't know what to do, does Amazon simply sell fake garbage??? Can anyone that actually owns or owned the knife give me advice plz????
Do not panic. Rust signals carelessness and breakage, improper use. But Leatherman easily exchanges or replaces its products even when used by brutes :) As for Amazon, it reimburses very easily. I have never had to deal with dishonest sellers on this sales platform.

Le nouveau Surge (2013) n'est plus équipé du porte-embout destiné à recevoir le petit tournevis pour lunettes. C'est la raison pour laquelle j'ai proposé deux solutions :
- soit plier un petit morceau de métal et insérer l'embout au niveau de la pliure,

Oui, il s'agit d'un étui de la précédente gamme d'étuis de Leatherman. Pour le Surge, l'étui de 4.5" s'impose. Cet étui comprend cinq emplacement de rangement. Son seul problème était la mauvaise tenue du prolongateur dans l'une ou l'autre des gaines latérales. Ce défaut a été corrigé par Leatherman avec ses nouveaux étuis mais en supprimant la poche ventrale, ce qui est débile. Cet étui est devenu introuvable mais ... Leatherman propose toujours cet étui mais en version camo :

@@diezelle57 Merci beaucoup pour votre prompte et exhaustive réponse. C'est fâcheux de la part de Leatherman, en effet. Le nouvel étui de nylon n'est pas adapté au Surge et étant vegan, je ne peux pas prendre d'étui en cuir. Je pense conserver ma configuration actuelle pour l'instant avec un étui pour le MT et un autre pour tous les accessoires. Moins pratique, certes, mais obtenir un étui de l'ancienne collection revient un peu cher. Merci encore et bonne continuation.
