I note that a the kazoo player voted "dislike" He needs to be sent home to have his diaper changed.
From Wikipedia: Elsner composed many symphonic, chamber, solo, and vocal-instrumental works, and works for the stage, including over 100 religious works (masses, offertorios, oratorios, cantatas), eight symphonies, three concertos, three ballets, and thirty-eight operas.[1] He is perhaps best known as the principal piano teacher of the young Frédéric Chopin.
    Thirty eight (38) operas?

Agree, and may be people who voted "dislike" think that this symphony has "too many notes".

A particularly outstanding Allegro finale from Elsner, within the larger setting of a very good work: the final movement is, in some places, somewhat reminiscent of Boccherini's overall musical style.

I sometimes listen to Mozart (and to Beethoven even less so) only because I heard they had some influence on Polish composers of the period

Wonderful dance music. Although not an ethnic Pole himself, Elsner was obviously immersed in the culture of the country and helped instill that love of Polish dance to the half-Polish Chopin. He must have been a wonderful teacher.

"the half-Polish Chopin" ha ha haaaa... and contrary to Chopin, Joseph Conrad (Józef Konrad Korzeniowski) was full-Polish 😜, not to mention Boris Johnson who is 1/4 Turkish🤦‍♂️

I will never understand why Chopin only composed for piano. I don't think there is a single composition of his without piano. just wanted to say that Polish music is so much more than Chopin

Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński was another of Elsner's students, he composed 2 symphonies. His style and the level of his compositions is similar enough to Chopin's to give you an idea what could have been, had Chopin ventured beyond piano works and chamber music.

I'm fed up with this kind of subtle early nineteenth-century music played by massive symphony orchestras
