Like Johnny Smith model and the attention to details even the jack placement on the rear tailplate was thought out on , not to distract the player 😉, beautiful design influenced from the early D Angelico guitars, absolutely Excellent,!
Gibson was still making nice archtops until just a few years ago. It was a great idea to make these videos of Brian playing them so we could hear what they sounded like and preserve the history.
The LeGrand saw a return to full scale length..departing from the Johnny Smith's 25" scale.Quite the scandal in archtop geek circles..combined with the switch from the traditional Johnny Smith floater to the Bruce J Bolen pickup from the Super V days, the LeGrand was a model that Johnny the man would have immediately rejected! LOL! ..perhaps it was a little Gibson design retaliation aimed at Johnny moving his endorsement to Heritage back in 1989? The world wonders.. Incidentally-I really enjoyed the walking bass stuff..wonderful playing Brian!!There is still some class left in the guitar playing world after all!
Great one. Wonder how this Gibson and Dangelico exl 1 deluxe would look in comparison. Think they may be just the same level. Always watching your reviews.thanks 😊
worth watching just to listen to you play.

Kind of bright sounding!!...
and of course, as with all archtops, produces the limited muzzled jazz tone only.. which is it's strength for jazz purests.

Now probably 25k if it's still in minty condition. Probably 15k back then when that video was made.
