      @mtb supertroll I second that ... all the dealers here in FL have in their recommended from Yamaha corporate 15w-50 from Yamaha direct service manager told me , but in the manual it says 10w40 or 15w50 ... Beats me

    Can’t wait until we can do a 2020 on the Dyno but woolich is still working on it I have yet to flash the new r1 but did plenty at bike night last year 180+ is good numbers for that motor

    I have Yamaha R1 2004 and i am interested what is an exhaust volume settings (Co) stands for. You can set this up through dashboard for each individual cylinder. Currently this values is set up to 06, same for each cylinder. Engine runs fine, fuel consumption is within limits. Bike has standard exhaust system, ECU untouched. Whether these values are set correctly.I bought this bike from third owner so i dont know if someone messed up with this settings. You are the best, it is unbelievable how much hp these engines have on the tap when fully opened.

      The GT350 (and the R variant) has a flat-plane crank, not a cross-plane crank like the R1 (and regular V8 Mustangs). It's funny how the engine in the GT350 is special compared to regular V8s, yet the R1's engine is special because it's basically half a regular V8 engine, instead of a regular i4.

    🤔 Didn’t see the stage 1, 93 octane tuning HP numbers. Also, aren’t the stage 2 numbers around 10 HP lower compared to other bike brands you’ve tuned ? Would love to see a chart comparison with the Suzuki you did with similar mods.

    I made 183whp on 91 with bmc filter, full titanium akrapovic, and block off plates on attack performance dyno which reads the same as graves. With velocity stacks you could push 190s. Some head gasket work 200+. With the mods this r1 has on mr12 it should have read higher.

    Yamaha really knocked it out of the park with 2015 up R1, especially the 2020. Have to see what Kawi does for the 2021 ZX10R or else may be jumping ship.....

      Well 2015 and 16 r1s have premature crank walk/failure. They addressed the issue in 2017 or 18 I believe it was. Unfortunately they refuse to acknowledge it and put out a recall. I have a link to a very good video about it if anyone is Interested.

    If I ever got back into Mod Lite racing, I want a Yamaha R1 Crossplane in a Pro AFX chassis instead of the usual GSXR 1000 or occasional ZX10 Kaw.
    With a Graves or Devil muffler on the Shoenfeld headder we use lol
    It will make heads turn, (hey, wtf, he sounds like a 358 Mod!!)

    Love it I have a 2018 R1 Dyno Tuned with an Austin Racing Full Inconel System, Woolich Racing Remap, Ceramic Bearings, Sprint P0 F1 85 air filter, block off plates, gears and too much to list. Had it all done at AF1 Racing. I love that it does not sound like you typical Japanese Sportbike.

      @@R1Ryder Lol I mean it is kind of a bad question but at the same time it is a good one because the answer isn't as straightforward as you may think so I'll explain (long post warning).
      Typically, yes you would want to knock out all of your air/fuel mods (exhaust, air filter, smog block-off plates, turbo etc.) before you get an ecu flash tune so that your tuner can create the tune based on your mods. Buuut, doing so in this order is most important when it comes to dyno tuning. Dyno tuning is the best method for tuning because the tune is made specifically for your bike. Two identical bikes of the same make, model & year can potentially have two different tunes with two different results.
      With that being said, if you were to ship your ecu to Chris and tell him "hey I plan on buying a 3/4 Toce exhaust system for my 09 R1", he'll flash it with a similar or close enough tune that he's previously used and that will best align with your mods and send it back to you. It might be best that you don't ride the bike until you put on the exhaust because changes were made in the tune based on you having xxx mods already. Flashing your ecu this way leaves yourself open for potentially leaving power on the table because you now have a fairly "generic" tune vs having a custom tune that was created on the spot for YOUR bike's supporting mods, on a dyno, according to that specific day's weather, the amount of miles on your bike's motor, etc.

    Hello Chris. I'm soon going to buy an '06 zx636 with SC slip-on and stock headers with custom cat delete that the current owner did by himself. What is the difference of this setup with the full system exhaust? I think the stock 2006 exhaust didnt come with a breadbox. Also, the bike has stock ECU, no Power commander or flash. It has 35.000 miles. What am I going to need to do after the purchase? Thanks!

      I'm no pro but I know a bit so I'll give my 2 cents. Lol damn did the owner even care about his bike?? Why would anyone get a cat delete without getting either an ecu flash or some sort of fuel management controller?? I'd honestly be weary about that bike man. Seriously. If he was too lazy to do something that obvious then I'd also bet he never changed the spark plugs, brake lines, brake fluid, or maybe even the coolant. Make sure you ask these questions dude.
      But to answer your question, swapping out the stock headers for race headers may... may give you 1-3 of a hp increase from the headers alone (when the bike has been tuned for it of course). I'd advise against buying headers for the street tho. Race headers are more so about weight savings rather than performance gains for when people...well you know, race lol.

    What is the difference between the blue line of this bike vs the blue line of th-cam.com/video/bWMTGoP3RBU/w-d-xo.html ?... You explained in the latter that you were unable to adjust the exhaust valve at lower rpm's due to Yamaha restrictions in the ECU. Both bikes are 2019 with slip on exhaust.

      Doubtful. A lot of tuners offer a buffer period after the tune that allows the buyer to give feedback to the tuner in order for changes to be made at no additional cost. Which isn't that bad honestly.

    Why are these always sold as being close to 200hp from factory when in fact they are no where near that. I always had it in my head from what i read that they sat at around 190hp stock.

      They are getting in the 190’s and higher on the 2020 in Europe , but octane on pump gas is higher so who knows

      200hp is measured at the crank. It is purely marketing because the dyno measures the hp at the rear wheel. You get losses through the mechanical components. These bikes will never dyno what their advertised hp numbers are.
