- The government's independent social cohesion adviser, Dame Sara Khan, has issued a warning about the concerning levels of harassment, which she says are a significant threat to democracy.
Ahead of the publication of her review on Monday, Dame Sara revealed that over 75% of the public feel pressured to censor their opinions.
Additionally, 27% have altered their lifestyles, including hiring security or changing jobs or homes.
As part of her recommendations, Dame Sara proposes the creation of exclusion zones for protests near schools.
This suggestion stems from an incident at Batley Grammar School in West Yorkshire, where a religious studies teacher had to go into hiding after showing a caricature of the Prophet Mohammed during a lesson three years ago.

I live in the multicultural heaven Bradford West yorkshire. It's a completely divided city. The Pakistani and Bangladeshi Muslim communities live completely separately. They have their own schools and areas. There are no go areas for any not from their own communities. High crime, drugs fraud. Worst place to insure a vehicle house or business. Insurance black spot. Companies can't find employees but highest unemployment rate. There was a statistic about only 20% of Bangladeshi origin males between age of 16 and 66 work - at the same time the same community has on average 6 children.
In the UK now it is a case of Minority Rules! You give some folk an inch and they take 100 miles. Europe is disintegrating. Islam may be a religion of peace that doesn’t automatically follow that members of this faith are indeed all peaceful. If Europe cares about and indeed wants to hold on to its culture then decisive action needs to be taken NOW!!

My question was the same when watching the video. Why hide your faces if you feel so righteous. Cowards who know how to intimidate but hide with hijab Niqabs and face masks. Probably illegal and do not want to be deported.
I think it is disgusting that these large groups of protesters are around childrens schools and in areas where families are with face masks on.
Looking through the lens of a young child it can be scary, terrifying and frightening and yet they cannot vacate the school to get away from it.
Cast minds back to carnivals with dressing up, loud bands, firework displays. If your child was afraid and frightened you would avoid going but a child cannot avoid school but is having to hear protester mobs shouting. Very intimidating and is causing restrictiveness to areas where this is happening.

In cases such as this which, i feel certain are more prevalent than we know, absolutely need to be delt with immediately with strong and certain lawful decisive action.
English people donot tolerate this behaviour yet our pathetic government and law enforcement services sit on their hands and do nothing, disgraceful.
I am so glad that we now have a general election very soon and we also have a new party to vote out the ridiculous two party system. As a Buddhist family we were asked by the primary school which our two children were attending if we would permit them to take religious education classes, which were predominately Church of Wales, we had no objection, as we believe it is good to understand other peaceful religions.
However, we did request that if any lessons or teaching about Islam came about that they would "sit out", the head teacher told me privately that that was ok, and that his children would also not be taught anything about Islam. Muslim and Catholic children were also were also given the same option to "sit out of C of W lessons.

This is exactly my point … You go to Islamic countries and even had to bd quiet about your faith and respected their laws, but they come to a Christian country knowingly and refuse to conform but instead want to run and Lord their beliefs… it’s common decency and politeness to respect the law of the land you find yourself.
This will become an issue as they are beginning your eat into the system like cancer.. and the British indigenes will not accept it.

On Easter Sunday my home town is having a March for Gaza, they have no respect for Christian’s whatsoever, I would imagine that it will start by the Cathedral as it’s in the centre of town, I live near Batley and I’m afraid what I feel about the situation I would hesitate to voice my opinions for fear of intimidation, what happened to this teacher is appalling but not surprising I’m afraid things are changing and not for the better .
We do not need the police to have any more training.. Just follow the LAW of our country.
I think in major governance, the ratio of the individuals employed thst have the faith, culture of the country should be much higher as well.
It's one thing to understand aspects of other religions/cultures, but the law of the country must be applied as necessary.

@theoverthinkingalien224 I agree that the law must be applied to everyone. I haven't said it shouldn't be. I worked in the police several years ago for a number of years, not as an officer, but involved with identifying training/development needs, etc. Understanding customs in order to treat people with respect during normal interactions is not the same as allowing people to ride roughshod over UK law, which shouldn't be allowed.

As for respect, I believe in treating a person with basic dignity, but I'm not for granting someone a higher level of respect or consideration because of their religion. They're bound by it's rules and expectations, not me.
