Kudos to your patience and determination! Can't tell you how many times I mumbled, "Yep, that's where I would've given up." Good for you for not giving up. It's beautiful!
You did a super awesome job on this even with all the obstacles. Nobody would have ever known. Looks great and to all you guys out there... never tell us women we can't do anything bc we will show you!
Awesome job! Having your son help means he can also have pride in the outcome. Nice to have help that doesn’t take over and tell you what you are doing wrong! Obviously your project was spot on! ❤️
WOW! You are super duper awesomely talented! You definitely gave me the incentive to try and do this! I don't care what anyone says I'm 58 and women are the best teachers. I had been trying my best to learn how to connect a new electrical wiring for a light switch. I literally looked at a whole day of men showing how to do it the next day I watched a woman's youtube DIY tutorial and instantly learned how to do it.
Fantastic work!!! I love your honesty and the way you express each challenge. This makes the project expectation so much more realistc for an amateur like me...without your impressive tools.
Thank you, I’m so glad you found what you’ve been looking for 🥰 that is a big reason I started my channel because it was hard to find tutorials from people who shared my design style!
Looks awesome... did you also have a hearth... I would have had to pay someone to make one had I not been in the right place at the right time - a 2nd hand/charity shop - someone donated a solid oak period fireplace surround and mantle... within 5 minutes of me arriving in the shop... I bought it straight away and they only wanted £30! It is beautiful... having it waxed and installed today... 😊
Beautiful! You are getting crazy good with those power tools! Thanks for explaining the “how to do” parts. And showing the mistakes! Your projects just beautifully made. Take care my friend! Until the next one…..
Thank you so much. I love being able to create the things I want for my home. And it’s so rewarding I’m the end. Thanks for your continued support my friend 🥰
I'm 59, a female and learn most things better from other women. Female brain. Female speak. It's not bias. Men are wonderful and very smart. Yet, they think and speak male. 🙋🏼♀️🌻
Omg thanks a lot for this video I'm about to make one to my wife and I was watching lot of videos but nobody explain like you do thank you so much 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great video! I'm glad you're not afraid to show your mistakes. I wish I had carpenter skills. I wanted to add a fireplace in my living room, now I see some challenges that I didn't think of. Do you mind sharing the price of the project, I know lumber prices fluctuate and that you used some scrap pieces, but would be helpful info imo.
I’ve been trying to get carpenters to come give me an estimate to replace the funky mantel on my recently added gas fireplace. I get a lot of talk but no one shows up. After watching your project I’ve decided to tackle it myself!
The gap between outside corner pieces happens if it's cut a little short or your base support boards are not seated at right angle. I always cut 1/16 longer so it can be adjusted.
Fantastic job on this project!! I am finishing my basement and working a project like this. Your video is very helpful. I also love the seejanedrill videos, she explains everything so easily. Great job, I am now a subscriber to your channel. Thanks again!
Great job! Looks beautiful. I’m just wondering why you use caulk instead of wood filler? I always use wood filler for projects and never really thought to use caulk, is it better?
WOW YOU ROCK❣️ I want one of those fireplaces. I know the biggest problem for me are those cuts. I know it’s just something simple that I am missing. Lol I have never did something big like that but it’s hard for me when I am just doing a frame.🤣I mess up so many times just on that. Well I think you did a great job! It looks beautiful! I love it🥰
Easiest way to cut crown is to lay it flat. Set your bevel at 31.9 and your table at 36.9 and then you only have to adjust is your table between 36.9 on each side and it comes out perfect every time stupid easy. I actually don't even know how to do it any other way.
I would say this is less than $200. I had a lot of the wood already so I’m not exactly sure. The decorative trim pieces are the most expensive so depending on the style you are going for it could be a lot less.
The angel of your baseboard pieces was off, and since you already added the side pieces that have a length that hit the back “, the front pieces can’t sit flush
I like what you did, but I couldn't watch the video all the way because of your valley girl way of talking. It's nauseating. Especially the uptalk at the end of each sentence.
Kudos to your patience and determination! Can't tell you how many times I mumbled, "Yep, that's where I would've given up." Good for you for not giving up. It's beautiful!
Girl your fireplace is gorgeous! You did a phenomenal job on it! I love it!
Thank you!

Oh he will still take over and tell me what to do 🤣 or think he knows what he’s doing

You did a great job. With all the issues you stuck to it and figured it out! It looks beautiful and I love the color. Thanks
Thank you so much
It is beautiful. That sure was a labor of love.
Thank you!
You didn’t make a fake fireplace surround. You made a real fireplace surround. Now it just needs an electric fireplace inside of it.
Love it!! Love seeing a female doing diy builds!!
Looks great. But anyone trying this will need good construction tools like you have.
This looks amazing! Your patience and persistence paid off! Gorgeous!
Thank you so much
Fantastic work!!! I love your honesty and the way you express each challenge. This makes the project expectation so much more realistc for an amateur like me...without your impressive tools.
Angela, you created a master piece. I wish I had the confidence you have to create such projects. Excellent job on the fireplace mantle!

I love that! You can do it and I’m sure you will make it even more beautiful than they would 🥰
It’s a beautiful piece. You did a fantastic job. 😊
Thank you
Really cool!

Great job! It looks awesome!
Thank you so much 🥰
Do you have videos on cutting angles? You did a great job. Thanks!
Very clever 👍
It turned out FABULOUS!!
Side note: my son got a cochlear implant when he was 5 years old, he’s now 32 and in law school at NYU 😊
That is amazing! I’m so happy for him. Thanks for sharing 🥰
Incredible! I might just try that!🙏💕
I absolutely love it 😍 ❤
Looks amazing. Wish I could envision and execute such an awesome project. Wow!
Thank you so much! I get lots of inspiration from Pinterest 🥰
Good job👍🏻
Looks gorgeous!! Great job and I know exactly what you mean when you say caulk fixes everything!😁
It sure does 🤣
See Jane drill, she’s great at explaining. And I’m a man.
Amazing job! Looks Gorgeous!❤️
Thank you

Hey Angela! Thank you for the video! It is very helpfully!
Just wondering did you eventually attach it to the wall?
Wondering also, how did u attach to wall?
Incredible! Please come over...😂😂😂😂
That same dentil wood moulding is $44 where i live...CRAZY!!!!
H$ll yeah!!!! You go girl👏
I love it!❤
I will need help using the saw, but, this I want to do😸
Great job! Looks beautiful. I’m just wondering why you use caulk instead of wood filler? I always use wood filler for projects and never really thought to use caulk, is it better?
I will want to add a hearth on mine at some point... hopefully 😊
Nice work! I'm also working on a fireplace :)
Love that!
Nice job, I only have 1 suggestion, get some safety glasses.
WOW YOU ROCK❣️ I want one of those fireplaces. I know the biggest problem for me are those cuts. I know it’s just something simple that I am missing. Oh girl I mess up all the time too on cuts and then I get so frustrated.
So beautiful!! What was the total cost for the mantle (not including paint)?
It was around or less than $100
were you working in your robe at one point?!?!? hahaha. I am not alone
Easiest way to cut crown is to lay it flat. Set your bevel at 31.9 and your table at 36.9 and then you only have to adjust is your table between 36.9 on each side and it comes out perfect every time stupid easy. I actually don't even know how to do it any other way.
What wood did you use?
This is mostly common board
Is yours free standing? Or did you install it to the wall?
It is free standing. I wanted to be able to love to another room if I ever decide to
Next time use scrap wood for a template. Also, a back piece behind your top expensive piece affixed would've helped...
Who was they lady you watch for cutting that piece
Oh my goodness I always forget to add those links I mention 🤦♀️ here you go!
th-cam.com/video/Ro_-VK5mw28/w-d-xo.html
Girl how did you build a whole fireplace? As soon as you brought out that saw I got lost😂
It was a big job
14:14 omg 😅
Can you tell us how much total cost?
I would say this is less than $200. I had a lot of the wood already so I’m not exactly sure. The decorative trim pieces are the most expensive so depending on the style you are going for it could be a lot less.
The angel of your baseboard pieces was off, and since you already added the side pieces that have a length that hit the back “, the front pieces can’t sit flush
Girl you did the d*** thing! Looks so amazing. I love the color you chose too. Everyone give this woman a huge round of applause 👏🏼
Thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰
yikes, you definitely learnt from this. In the end it's your creation and that is what counts
I like what you did, but I couldn't watch the video all the way because of your valley girl way of talking. It's nauseating. Especially the uptalk at the end of each sentence.
Absolutely beautiful! I’m going to try it out! I’m curious how you fixed the big gap on top corner? Wood filler?
I used caulk! But you could use wood filler also
Looks beautiful! Wonderful job!☺
