Every tune in the method has a purpose. It is written to accomplish a certain task in the method. The trick is to really make music out of instructional concepts at the core of the compositions. Each tune has specific work you do in them.

The drum solo section features the tried and true Inner Clock method of displacing subdivisions in the time line and of course catching them as you solo.
This tune also features up and coming afro pop star from Congo, Africa. Melane. The text is written in the Lingala language from Congo. And some french. They speak of the ever popular theme of lost love. Melane is great at writing lyrics. She penned the text to the melody in basically one session! She was inspired! But what was really great is that she wrote them to fit the specific melody I gave her. Fitting perfectly in line. Also copping horn parts as she wrote! Really very nice. The Vocals were recorded in Germany as I was in production of IC2.

Know One -- 16th Note Work
As the title implies, it's good to have a strong Inner Clock to play this tune. Why? Because one of the features it has, is that the phrases in it rarely land on "1″ -- So you have to have a good sense of Downbeat
The groove is based on a something I used to love to play in Maynard Ferguson's band. He did a great version of "Birdland" and the drumming parts were blazing! You can see this in the Live performance section on the site membership site.
The basic work you will be doing is working on transitions. From Double Time and on the chorus to Regular time. The Inner Clock work comes from playing these 2 feels and still catching all the figures. This is of great benefit because it forces you to feel the figures we are studying in different ways. Make sure to see the lesson video as this song is complex and has lots of hits! FUN!!!
