I am 55 years old and I've been listening to NEIL YOUNG since I was 13 with my friends who's older brother had every Neil Young 33 albums,!! RUST NEVER SLEEPS!!!!
same here. I'm 64....first discovered time fades away and it helped me with puberty...scoffed at Harvest -- except Words and Alabama - and I was 13 -- What 13 year old obsesses over those songs? ME. Then On the beach helped me with everything else until Zuma let the sunshine back in. Sorry, I tried and tried, but for me, Tonights the night is just a drunken mess so I didn't even buy it. I know backstory. -- But what a great soundtrack to my youth. For those who are just learning this songs, I offer a few tips -- I'm just a bedroom guitarist who had some success in the 90s, so I'm no expert.....But I used to spend hours standing an earshot away from my stereo speakers -- with my little amp atop them to play along... and my tele in my hands -- I put a nickel on the needle to slow it down - so I could learn it better. Depending on day, sometimes it was just a penny....haha. I think I got to where I didnt' do that anymore. IDK. Neil was in one speaker, so I focused on that...but I picked up too much treble just following Neil -- which is why I know NOTHING about drums and have trouble with bass, though I can play it. ....haha. I IF you are just learning this song's lead, which is both easy at times and impossible at others, FIND SOMETHING ELSE TO PLAY while he is going all that stuff --not lead -- rhythm . focus on how many different ways they play Em and A and in what flow and how it all locks in. THAT is hard. And have fun...it sure beats watching TV. JMHO -- so thanks.
about 20 or so of us Lads went to the gig, Irish, London Irish.. we were all from Kilburn, drank in the bird in hand, and also the Memphis Belle and the Cock,Great night. Everybody survived.👏👏👏 Thank you for the work, Mr. Young.
im here. I am appreciating the song more as it and I age, but it was not one I could really lean into on Zuma. I know most folks seemed so smitten with this song. I remember when it came out and I was not impressed. Plus, as I tried to learn it, II don''t think I copied the lead well while trying to play along and lost interest. Haha. But....Turn the record over-- I think - and we find "Danger Bird"-- Lotsa folks consider it a deep cut, cause Cortez is THE one, for lots listeners. But for me, as musician, especially, Dander Bird is a strong song in many ways, and has some his finest slow burn lead./freakout lead. Neither song meanders, which both could easier do...and then there's all those other songs that are just silly but fun rockers. Didn't he say "Don't Cry No More Tears" was among the first songs he wrote....What a talent. And 2024 seems to be treating him well. Actually he is looking, playing , acting and talking better than any of them. He attributes it to Hannah's cooking.
I was there too. 4 shows at the Hammersmith Odeon. I went to the first and last shows. On the last show, whilst a good half of the audience had left the theatre Neil, Frank, Billy and Ralph came back out to play Cowgirl in the Sand. Surreal really as the house lights were on and they'd said over the tannoy that Neil had already left the building. I was 22. Such a long time ago as I type this I think of those people who I love who are no longer with us.
Down by The River and Cortez the Killer back to back. The best live version of both I've heard and together is beyond words. Long dreamlike solos that go on and on in the most mind-bending beautiful way. It is indescribable. Listen to it over and over and it is impossible to pick up every nuanced note and transition from one musical pattern to the next. It explodes and then quiets the mind back and forth. The guitar harmony is dream-like. This may rank as possibly my all time favorite Neil Young video. For old-timers and young people just discovering the genius of Neil Young. He's beyond timeless. I'm old. He's older. "Old Man"... my theme song. He will live in eternity. Thanks for uploading this video masterpiece. It's exceptional.
Thank you for this! I grew up listening to Neil Young. I never went to concerts when I was younger. I finally got to see Neil Young with Crazy Horse in Atlanta on May 7th, 2024. Absolute Legends. Still sound and play just as good. Absolute legends.❤
I’ve been a huge Neil Young fan all my life too, and I never got to see him live until Forest Hills Queens this past Tuesday! The only other time I almost saw him was 22 years ago for my birthday and I had the flu that day.
After just one song in Ottawa (78) at an outdoor venue in August rain began to fall on this legendary singer. He was on his stool with his accustic guitar and long hair getting wet with the rest of us. I was thinking: what a bonus ,as he played a second and then a third song. The rain really began to come down and the audience began to file out. Neil continued to play. Most performers would have called it off , but he's not just any musician.
He is one of a kind, good lyrics the sound is raw ,he has not the best voice there are better guitarists but there is only one Neil Young he is in every way a poet , a musician a performer and a wonderful and true human being, I love him and this love will never die
Thanks for this Teepee. I was there, 23 years old. Got married one month later. Travelled back to Leeds after the show in an old Morris Minor! Memories are made of this!❤
Same here! I was in the Navy stationed outside Stuttgart. Saw him in Heidelberg-Eppelheim at Rhein-Neckar-Halle March 18, '76, just before I got transferred back to the states.
he came rto san diego but did notstay enough days and tickets I looked at were 400. Neil how can a retired socialworker afford that? At least I get to play you on my computer thank u for that. I am grateful you share your wonderful music.

My late wife was at this gig... I babysat our 4 yr old son.. awesome seeing this.
I sent this to my uncle, he replied "I was there! Second row from the front. Thanks for sending"
He thanks you now because he may have no memory of the concert. Do to drugs and alcohol consumption affecting the teenage brain.
