    Great watch! I have a very similar one. From what I’ve read only the 62MAS Daini models used tritium lume (hence the brownish color of their patina) whereas the Suwa 62MAS like this one utilized promethium lume. Hard to find historical verification though.

    I am a vintage watch collector. I just have a comment on your last tip ( history of the watch ). Personally, it feels good to know the history of the watch from the previous owner. But by experience, I pay more attention to the condition of the watch which the actual owner should be able to give you the detail.

    Completely off topic but what do we think of Dan henry as a brand?

    I feel like these tips only work well if you're able to see the watch in the metal. I'd love to hear about how you can find a good vintage watch online. Show us that, please.

    Uniform wear slash patina throughout. Minty phresh dial wif a beat up case or vice versa should cause you to run.

    People would hate me for this, but maybe i'm one of those people. who would buy a vintage watch, and relume it, clean up the dial, do some light polishing, fix the gasket. Because I actually want to WEAR the watch, wear it at the beach, not just treat is as a collection on box

    Hi, Which version of the 62 mas is the rarest?

    • @ericfan9149
      @ericfan9149 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The “small crown” version from 1965 is probably the rarest but not necessarily more valuable than the “big crown” versions produced in 1966 and 1967. Seiko switched to the larger crown because divers complained the crown was too difficult to grip with gloves. From what I’ve read from collectors the big crown version is actually more desirable, but that could always change. I have seen some sites selling the small crown version for more, touting its rarity.

    I wonder why you’re so hysterically about never touched, all original! I don’t like old watches with crumbled lume or odd markings on the dial. I would prefer a functional watch. And if it is serviced using original parts, I’m totally fine with it. And if there are no original hands or lume pips anymore, I wouldn’t mind to repaint them by a skilled watchmaker, who knows what he is doing.

      Claus-L. Müller I agree completely. I prefer a watch not a museum piece. I have had my 168000 factroy serviced and I wouldn't want it any other way.

    Good reference point. There's one thing worse than discovering your vintage watch isn't all original and that's finding out it's an out and out fake. Give me 30 minutes and I will find you at least 5 fake vintage watches on eBay in the sub $500 price bracket. The best advice, as the author said is to do your research... and then do some more .

      10:10 Tock haha it's all good! I currently have a Seiko 6217-7010 World time & Seiko 6139 6040 Chronograph, do you think an all original 62mas would complement these rare pieces??? (btw both my pieces are all original except my chronograph doesn't have the original bracelet)
