I have been waiting so long for this video. You need to do a part 2 video for this topic. It is so vastly different to the way Fanuc handled tool data in previous versions that it needs more unpacking.
Can you elaborate on what the purpose of tool groups is for? Is it mainly used for tool life control using sister tools?
What would be the benefit of putting 2x .500 endmills in the same group if tool life is not used?
If I create and use a single tool, can that tool be saved in a "tool library" so I can quickly load it next time it is used instead of creating all the tool data again?
If I had a bunch of drills in the carousel eg 2mm 3mm 4mm, is it better to load them all into a single group with different T numbers and offsets, or separate groups?
Can you save tool data into a program file instead of onto a separate USB file?
What would the tool life command be for 2 different tools in the same group? Eg would this be correct for group 2 in the video - T1002 and T1012?
What is the "catalog" column for?
Can a tool "H" code column be added to the main overview page?

Thanks for the video. Can you tell me, what format would the tool call take on a turning centre when using tool life management?

Hello, really helpfull video. I would like to ask if there is any possibility on FANUC controllers to monitor tool life WITHOUT setting tool group, just as an individual tool. Thank you!

John, thanks for the question and it's a good one. On the Fanuc control the only way to control tool life is to make it with a tool group. So if you only have one tool, make a group with one tool in it and call it in your program at T1001 H999 and let it eat. That's the best solution I have for you. Thanks for the question!
