    I have to laugh when people say that Fallkniven knives are "overpriced." Once you actually use one for a while, you realize they are actually an excellent knife for the money, and better priced than some other options. Especially with the COS steel. The "X" series are a great value, imo.

    Great review, very detailed and coherent, I have just picked up the F1X to add to my F1, S1X and A2, initial impressions are very positive, small enough for overnight wild camps etc but tough as hell, I am a huge fan of the new laminated cos steel too. Cheers, Chris, Wales UK.

    I carry the S1x when on duty in the Swedish Armed Forces and i must say that is just the right context for these knives.

    I have one, and it is gorgeous to view and easy to grip. It is not my camp knife nor my hiking knife for the reasons that you listed. However, I do intend to use it in heavy bushcraft tasks.

    F1 Pro is exactly same steel just different handle shape. Laminated cobalt steel is in this series and pro ones as well. I have S1 Pro and knife is absolutely amazing. You should contact Dulo knife maker and you will be blown away with custom made knives and steel quality. I bought Dulo DBK K390 and paid €180 with shipping included so it’s around $200 US, there is no any other maker that make knives like Dulo period!

      F1x/F1xb is stronger than the F1 pro. Just take a look at Fallknivens stress test charts. Also you do not risk the loosening guard, The x series is the most robust choice. The sheaths is also better and improved.

    I like this. I have stayed away from Fallkniven knives until I came across this knife. I am going to sell several knifes, then go for one of these. Very nice review.

    what makes it a heavy duty blade is that the lamination incorporates three layers of steel and while bent the pressures in the material sort of "dissipate" between the layers not transferring to the most compressed areas where they would accumulate. On the opposite, the external layes do not stretch that much with helps prevent cracking...The same priciple has been utilised in heavy duty crane hooks or in door lock deadbolts.

      I had the FK Taiga Tf2 and found the lam cos to dull quickly.

    Combining any knife with a bushcraft hatchet changes the ball game entirely in that it makes lots of the heavy duty chopping knives eg BK2 redundant. I like the secure sheath though. Mora would improve the Garberg with a better lockable sheath and a thicker handle or perhaps allowing removable scales to allow customisation. Do you think the F1X is worth another £60 over the standard F1. Perhaps the longer Falkniven blades would be more appropriate for the Survivalist ?

    • @Kevinclearysharpstuff
      @Kevinclearysharpstuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed the second tool changes the approach completely. I think Falknivens are overpriced in general so none are really worth the extra you pay they are still good tools just overly expensive tools.

    • @gunnarblomquist4412
      @gunnarblomquist4412 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes a hatchet strongly outperforms most knives for splitting wood but some People wants to save weight.
      I prefer a hatchet like my Gränsfors bruks wildlife hatchet. Have the Garberg. Like it. My Garberg have better edgeretension than my FK Taiga Tf2 lam cos. The newer Fk F1x and s1x my opinion have very uncomfortable handles. Sx1 worse than F1x. And both to thin.

    the real steel bushcraft with the convex grind has a secondary bevel. i removed mine after the first use because it seriously limited the potential of the knife.

    You worry about the F1X being heavy to carry in a backpack? Really? As compared to a Mora? So you worry about carrying possibly another 3 or 4 ounces more?
    Totally Ridiculous.

      @@Kevinclearysharpstuff Ha ha! Isn't that a bit of a contradiction?
      Another useless fact is that the swedish airforce and some other parts of the armed forces have the fällkniven f1 as a part of their weaponry as well, but I think you know that already.

    Not sure why people talk about 0 degree grinds as it is an oxymoron and 'clique' language that is not helpful to the cutlery novice.
