      Hope it helps bro. Total game changer for me. Haha yeah it helps to be free from distractions and anyone who can't understand why putting skates in the oven is a good idea!

    Bloody Hell, scary mary time. I am hoping to do this with liners to help push them out a little, I know you said this wasn't a tutorial video but great to hear your experience with it and also the honestly in how nerve racking it is, the irony being its mostly the expensive kit that comes with the "heat moudable" feature lol

    I've never had pain on that inner ankle bone until I got USD carbons. Went away with heat molding, but after a few months of solid skating came back. Now I just use them every now and then and use other skates as my day to day.
    It really is a horrible pain and when it starts hurting it doesn't take much to antagonise it. Glad it worked out with the Adapts. I might try re-heat molding my Carbons actually 🤔

    • @chrischadwick1
      @chrischadwick1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's a pretty session ruining pain when it hits. Interesting it came back, wonder why. What method did you use to push out the pressure point? Yeah might be worth giving it another bash 🤔

      @@chrischadwick1 similar to you except I only used kitchen roll about 3 sheets folded up over each inner ankle bone. Maybe I should try something more pronounced this time like the foam like you used.

      @@chilli-iceolive-abode2447 yeah might be worth a go. It definitely needed that extra push!

    My oven starts at 150C so I've always struggled with heatmolding. Also terrified after a friend put his Intuitions in at 200C instead of 200F and melted them.

    • @chrischadwick1
      @chrischadwick1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah i was afraid of making a mistake like that! Fortunately it all worked out.
      Great excuse to visit a skateshop with a heatmoulding oven. I want to make a pilgrimage to loco one day!

      @@chrischadwick1 yeah same here. So many skates I want to try that I'm not sure about ordering.

      @@chrischadwick1 I live the next town over from Loco and they don't do walk--in custom anymore :(
      I'm currently waiting for a set of Adapt GTO (I needed mine extra wide too) and was wondering where I could get mine heat moulded if I need them doing as my oven temperature doesn't go low enough.

    I’m quite surprised that you didn’t need to take the soulplates off. I thought they’d have melted down to unusableness. I’m not sure if that’s even a word, sorry! Interesting video though 👍

    • @chrischadwick1
      @chrischadwick1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah they Reccomend leaving them on. I think it's go keep the base of the boot flat or something.

    I experienced a similar situation with my adapts.. for the first 3 months they felt great but slowly overtime they got more and more painful. Sadly heat moulding didn't work for me and I recently sold them.

    • @chrischadwick1
      @chrischadwick1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah that's a shame. The pain was pretty intense so not sure what I would have done if this didn't work. What are you riding now?

    i didn't think you could heat mold carbon fiber. i assume the carbon is a heat sink.

    • @chrischadwick1
      @chrischadwick1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah these are the diolene shell but I know you can mould the carbon too. One of the few ridgid materials you can mould. Something to do with the resin in the material

  • @MK-xw1rp

      @@chrischadwick1 Yeah for me as well. But nobody ever promised you they don't I hope? :) It really depends on how lucky you are regarding your anatomy ;) Bought my pair of GTS 1.5 years ago and heat moulded them, but now they start to get a bit (*) painful at my ankle bones again (had this with skates all my life). So I'll give it another try with a bit more stuff attached at those points 😃
