That moment when I literally had no idea there was even the Emmys on last night. IT's ok my life still was still as happy.
I didn't know either. I was listening to Fresh Air w/Sheryl Lee Ralph and they said the Emmys was on tonight. I did mental math (time zones) and realized it was actually on. I turned it on just in time to see Sheryl win. It was great. I rewind the show but mostly skipped through it. I just wanted to see Lizzo, the Abbott Elementary cast and Carmichael's categories. I was overall really happy.
Sheryls speech gave me goose bumps
So proud of Sheryl Lee Ralph ,,👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Her dad was my first music teacher (I was 5years old) she and her brother would come home from school and hanging out with her mother and run into the music room to say hello to their dad Mr Stanley Ralph. He was a great teacher and after they moved to New York, I took lessons from my cousin who was also Sheryl 's cousin My grandma's sister (Virginia Sears) married Sheryl"s great uncle Wardell Ward . Uncle Wardell was a brother to Sheryl's material grandma. So uncle Wardell and aunt Virginia (we called her aunt Virgie and my own mom was named Virginia in her honor) anyway they had a daughter Jeanette who continued to teach me piano lessons. All of that was many years ago...

@@mitsukai7192 yes but the 2nd half of the show will get nominated again next year. The last season is broken into 2 parts and that's also the problem.
Also, Sheryl Lee Ralph was also up for the role of Sandra Clark, the role player by Jackée Harry, on 227, before it was given to Jackée Harry.
Jackee owned that role but Sheryl would have done great with it too.

My only surprise is, she didn’t get backlash from saying/singing “I am a woman and I am an artist….”, when I heard her sing, I was like 🫢🫣 someone is going to be mad at that statement but so far I didn’t hear any backlash yet. How many Celebrities got backlash for saying “I am a woman and I worked hard for this moment or for this reward” by the LGBTQ+ Feminists community/supporters/organizations in the past? I am surprised they are quiet this time.

Well it has finally happened. I don't know any of these winners and haven't seen any of these shows. We don't have any of the pay channels and never will. Even the underfunded Philly school comedy (& that is no laughing matter) on regular old TV didn't attract us. Well, we're old so this is not surprising. Didn't watch this broadcast either. If many are asked to define it, they get lost in time and space. As a result, many confuse it with passion, or as some say "spirit-tek".
For the above reasons many are languishing, in bitterness, loneliness, broken homes, broken marriages and mentally poisoned children caught in the crossfire.
God came to man's rescue with divine education, and taught man what love is, but many choose to be in the dark, and like liquid, choose a line of least resistance and think sweet talk will impress God as a substitute for love. Love requires action. Without action there can be no love.

I use to watch all the awards shows every year. But once all the politics, virtue signaling, judgemental comments, and wokeness starting coming from these people, I stopped watching. I don't want or need someone telling me what I should do even if I agree with them.
Honestly…this has become sickening to me. Living for the approval of others. Black people we really have to stop caring about trying to convince others to like us! Yuck…way too desperate!

With the exception of Abbott Elementary, Dope Sick/Euphoria, all those shows are a display of privileged people who have very little if any idea of the struggles average Americans endure.

@@NotSteve88 it’s not melodramatic to win an award in an industry that rarely recognises people of your race or gender. Too have all of those emotions and to project them as she did beautifully is nothing short of a reasonable response.
