    Hi Roxanne, great video seed stitch is my fav stitch. I would so appreciate a video on invisible increasing in seed stitch, ie. increasing the middle of the work rather than at the end.

    How do you always know exactly what I need to know/learn when I’m working a pattern!? 😍 Thank you so very much!

    Could you tell me how to decrease for a seed stitch hat on straight needles? I have an odd number of stitches (93). Thank you!

    I am making a hat on straight needles. I have unpicked several times as on decreasing two stitches every other stitch on a row I mess up the pattern. Can I solve this please?

    Hi! is it possible to knit 2 together and purl 2 together as a way of decreasing in the round in seed stitch? Thanks so much!

      I think you'd get a better result with ssk, p2tog than with k2tog, p2tog. I'd recommend working a couple of swatches and see if you prefer one result over the other.

    I am hoping for some help with this k1p1 seed stitch beanie/toque I made without a pattern. It is 112 stitches around and I used two different fine weight yarns together to get a color fleck and to "bulk up." I am having trouble knowing how to decrease/how many sections to have. It is now 7" inches long and I have a safety in and am ready to go. 1" of width is about 6 stitches. Roxanne would you divide this hat into four sections or 8 sections?

      Do the calculations to figure out which one would be best for your hat. I have a playlist of hat videos that includes several on the topic of crown shaping. One of those might help you make your decision. th-cam.com/play/PL1AZxTfSCe2feGta0fXVVSFYQVqmINyEw.html

    Could I also decrease using smaller needles as I go around the top of the hat? I want to keep the pattern as much as possible I don't like the hats the close and are loose and look like a flower ontop

      If you use the second method shown in the video, you will maintain the pattern the entire time. That said, there's nothing to stop you from going down needle sizes as part of the decrease process, but the longer you avoid working decreases in order to reduce the actual stitch count, the more gathered the top will end up being.

      @@RoxanneRichardson makes sense I'll follow the second one, thank you for the time... Mine gathered just a little bit it's better then my last hats I like it to be slightly flat at the top I get a point from time to time, could that be I decrease too far?

    Great video as always! Are those needles in the of the video the addi Flexi flips XL or the normal ones? Are you doing a review on the XLs?

    • @RoxanneRichardson
      @RoxanneRichardson  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These are the bamboo XL. I am thinking of doing a review, and wanted to try them out in a couple of situations. They don't come in sock sizes, which is a bit puzzling, and the metal XL tips are shorter than the bamboo.

    • @carolineberg295
      @carolineberg295 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RoxanneRichardson Yes, it is really odd that the XLs aren't available in smaller sizes as well! I was thinking they would be perfect for hat knitting but I would like the 3 mm for that, which isn't available. I'm guessing they were thinking the XLs would be good for DK yarns and such but didn't think of bigger items with small gauge. Maybe they'll add the sizes later.
      It would be really interesting to know if you find the longer ones, better for your style of knitting! I am trying the normal length metal ones out now and am loving them! It's a great substitution for DPNs and a better way to do magic loop. I never really got over the bother of having the extra cord flapping about. 😋

    • @RoxanneRichardson

      They must think people want a longer tip because they're knitting larger circumferences, and while that might be true for thicker yarns, my reason for wanting a longer tip has to do with my knitting style, as well as knitting socks with heel flaps and gussets. As sock needles, they're really only suitable in a set of three if you are knitting SR heels or peasant heels, and for me, the tip length is just not acceptable in the sock sizes. It's nice to have a choice in tools, though!

      @@RoxanneRichardson I'm kind of hoping that they will start making all types in all sizes 😁 the XLs would be great for sleeves if they came in more sizes! I am using the shorter ones in 3 mm for a brioche hat atm but they are a taaad too short so I have to be careful not to drop any stitches at the end of the needles. Would love to see a review of the XLs still! 😃👍

    What is the name of the pattern for the cardigan you’re wearing? I LOVE LOVE LOVE purple yarn. Which yarn did you use? I love your videos!! I have learned so much from you. Thank you!

      That's the WWI-era sweater I knit this past summer. I talked about it in my Casual Friday videos in June and July, and modeled it when it was finished in this video: th-cam.com/video/0g9JCmrfYgY/w-d-xo.html. You can get a link to the Ravelry pattern page and see the yarn I used on my Ravelry project page here ravel.me/Rox/ass
