Yeah she was extremely rude. That was a weird situation and I can understand if the driver didn’t pass but she could have just calmly explained why and encouraged him to practice and try again. “Do you think I should tell you how to drive?” “How can I give you a license if you drive like that?” There was no need for all of that. Reminds me of rude customers I have who just keep talking trying to explain why they’re so reasonable when they’re just being assholes.

Recently my dad just screamed and yelled at me in PUBLIC at a gas station. He wanted me to keep driving after he forced me to pull into the gas station bc of a little acceleration (naturally) at a curve even though I drive safe like 98% of the time. Just got my license YESTERDAY. But after he degraded me in public I felt like never driving with him again. I’d rather illegally drive alone… was crying silently in the car while a few people passed me by as I sat in the drivers seat and waited for him to drive instead. For a whole 30 mins

The way she could have gone about it is by telling him his errors, for example: when you drove by the Pedestrians I noticed you drove very close to them. Did you notice? If so, I like you know that I have failed you for safety concerns. I also noticed that in the beginning of the test you turned a bit into the other lane. Next time you retake the driver test keep that in mind. Have a good rest of your day.
There was no need for her to lecture him in that tone because she is not his mother. She’s there to observer his driving skill to see if he should obtain a DL. She was not there to parent anybody. Very unprofessional.

In the Netherlands I failed the test a few times. The examiner told me exactly where I failed. But sometimes I noticed it myself afterwards. I told the examinor: "Yes, I remember that I made that mistake."
On the test that I passed, the examiner didn't say anything about driving itself, gave me a hand and congratulated me with having passed the test. The driving instructor was behind me and the examinor on the backseat, and told me that I made two small errors. They were not critical.

I took my test here and when I passed my test my examiner didn't even let me know that I passed right away. The first thing she did was say her critiques and one complaint that I have with her is that she was mad at me for making a right turn. The light was red and I stopped before inching forward a bit and the light immediately went green. I saw that as soon as the light went green and i took my right turn. She said that if the light would not have turned green I would have failed. I still do not understand it to this day. I tried explaining that I thought it was okay for people to make a right turn on a red light since it is allowed and she dead ass said "people drive while being on their phones, you think that's okay?". She literally compared something legal to something that is not legal. ooo I was also running on 0 hours of sleep when I took my test! GOATED!

This is what's so wrong with our test. You are at the mercy of someone's opinions of the road. Around where I am in NY, we had a test that had lights, when I first took it I had a van beeping at me, I didn't want to turn right on red since some examiners fail you for that or some feel it was a risky move for a beginner to do. The examiner starting laughing as the a-hole was beeping and she basically made me feel stupid and yell at me the moment the light turned green and at the end critique and insulted me all over that and failed me for things that didn't make sense like she lied and put I mess up my three point even though I did it spotless same with my parallel basically she gave all the points to fail me b/c not turning at red isn't a illegal but maybe to them LOL.
If we had a public DMV youtube channel for each state like this where test are uploaded or allowed to be acesse I feel we would have a lot less nasty examiners... but at the same time we do need strict ones seeing how bad the drivers are around here in NY. At the end of the day just my opinion...
Sorry you had that, some examiners are nice but I do wish we held more accountable since I feel like every complaint is about them, but also sometimes they do the right thing and some people pass who really shouldn't IMO.

Had an examiner like this, I'm in the UK, and he was the most aggressive and condescending person I have ever me. Asked me if I knew how to turn the car on because I hadn't started the engine... BECAUSE HE TOLD ME NOT TO UNLESS ASKED. He then proceeded to sniffle and blow his nose the whole way round and just grumbling directions. Complained and it got no where but, I wasn't the only one who had issues. Mysteriously he was on leave for 3 weeks when I took my next test. Since this is a driving ‘exam’, I feel the examiner was unprofessional. She contradicts the notion that you’re supposed to be calm and respectful on the road even if another driver does something kinda stupid. But the test taker didn’t make a mistake big enough to warrant that kind of response imo. I can see where he could have felt confused in that situation, especially since he’s under enough pressure as it is. If he sped past those pedestrians I could see where the examiner could have gotten excited but he stayed cautious and took it slow even though he didn’t necessarily do the right response to that situation.
A parent or driving instructor should be the one issuing stern criticisms and not the person whose job is to just check boxes on a clipboard. You wouldn’t belittle a high school student for failing an exam. So the examiner should have stayed in her lane instead of giving him crap for staying in his lol

On my first attempt at Hawthorne pre-COVID (Spring 2020), the examiner (at the El Segundo Bl office) surprisingly let me finish the entire drive (even going into the Fonthill neighborhood, which is north of the DMV) despite me forgetting to check my shoulder and mirror before merging past a row of cars turning right into the second batch of residential neighborhoods (Jefferson) in the first part of the test.

I recently had a drivers behind the wheel exam today (10/27/23) and the instructor who i had been rude towards me from the very beginning. Once we begun everything ran smoothly, when we were about to leave an intersection within a small neighborhood; the instructor seemed to give me the eye look in seeing if I checked my meers and shoulders even tho I did he docked me off as a deduction even when it came to merging (I sped up and merged but still got docked). Till all of a sudden, the guy had decided to push on the brake hold of my electric hybrid vehicle to stop me in motion in the middle of a small passing road making me swerve in almost a jagged pace with cars driving past me and started to lash out at me in saying “WHY DID I HAVE TO PUT THE BRAKE ON YOU, WHY DID I HAVE TO PUT THE BRAKE ON YOUU!!!” basically scolding me meanwhile shaking in nervousness and not responding to his orders. We got back to a small parking spot in writing extra things down in saying “You are considered as an unsatisfactory driver, you were going over 10 miles above the speed limit and where not checking the mirrors & blindspots when turning at the right bikelane!!” *slams door hasrshly in front of my face in a hard way and leaves in saying, have a good day in a ignorant way*. know I am at fault for this which is understandable in correcting my mistakes , but nothing gets passed by me in not realizing the rudeness in this guys tone and how much anxiety i went through this test; thankfully retaking it on November 20th 2023.

I'm really sorry to hear that happened to you. I took my driving test today and I somehow passed with him being one of the worst examiners. FYI my teacher told me that this guy loves girls and hate guys because literally most of his female students passed and most of his male students failed. Also somehow he was feeling really stressed today. So literally during the first 5 minutes he yelled at me for yielding way too much of the oncoming traffic and I should just go, he literally did the thing where hes so disappointed and literally mumbled to himself :"why do they all do this". Then everything went well after that UNTIL I started parking. I parked kinda crooked and I had to reverse, at the point I felt super nervous and stressed because of him that I forget to look behind my shoulders. He yelled at me for that and at that point he saids:"look at what you have done" and aggressively check the paper at the part where its a pass or fail. I literally thought I failed, he lectured me for 5 minutes asking why I don't check my surroundings and stuff. But then as he finished he said:" you passed" then left. I am really glad that I don't have to do that shit all over again because that was very stressful omfg.

Took a test at Torrance on November 8, 2021. My examiner was rude as hell. When I greeted him, he told me to shut up. I failed when I made the left turn onto Denker Av, which narrowed when you drive north past the church and the car wash. What happened was when I was preparing to turn left onto Denker, I was not aware until then that Denker would be narrow driving north. I thought Denker would be fairly sized like on the opposite side where McDonald's and Circus Donuts are located. When turning onto Abalone to head back to the DMV, the examiner said it in a condescending tone. When I told him about how I would let my permit expire since it was almost a week and a half to the expiration date, the examiner rudely told me to try and schedule the next test by November 17, 2021. Plus, I tried to tell him about the routes that "Fullerton Sam" pirated in Spring 2021, but he cannot disclose the routes, otherwise he and the Torrance DMV would be sued.
My offer still stood. If I did not like it with Torrance, I can always try again at Hawthorne. The test in June 2022 ended up being my passing test after "self improvement [always] prevails".
