It’s a four cylinder so it has to be a turbo or you couldn’t haul anything. It’s going to have all the bells and whistles a modern car has so expect that
Glad to read that Toyota plans to make a true mini-pickup again. Hopefully it will come as a 2-door Xtracab with a 6-foot bed and not only as a 4-door with a tiny bed. It will need several more inches of lift to be of interest to this wildlife biologist.

This would be great. If it has the back seat that flips up so it can be used like the Honda Ridgeline with a fully flat rear seat floor that can be used for dog owners etc.
thanks from a 1986 Toyota truck owner. my truck is an extra cab long wheel base automatic(not a Hilux).the hilux name badge was only given imports to the us which had add on luxury items, Hilux
Wish the Toyota Stout will be on sale real soon at least by January 2025. I want to buy a good cheap good quality small new Toyota pickup right now. It doesn't need to have a lot of options. Just a good basic truck with great mpg and able to tow maybe 4 to 5 thousand pounds.
Bring back the Hilux extra cab AWD Hybrid with a 6’ bed. And hopefully Tan or Brown interior colors. All automakers have beat Gloomy Grey and Boring Black interior colors into the ground
@@GNMi79 Green and Red exterior paint doesn’t look good with Gray or Black interior colors. Tan or Brown would look more classy. Our 2011 Ford pickup has the Exact same interior colors as the standard interior colors as a new Ford pickup. That’s pathetic. We bought our 2011 Ford Ranger XLT super cab 4WD used in 2019 with only 20K miles, (it now has only 36K miles), as it’s mainly used for work around our property. Anyhow it’s was Silver 🤮 and we Hate Silver, Gray, Charcoal Gray and Black, but the mileage and price was great. Anyhow I had it 2 toned. It’s now Silver over Red metallic. I had it reupholstered in Red with black trim and stitching. This is our 4th Ranger and we figured that this would probably be the last pickup we’d ever own as a work truck, so I fixed it up a bit. After I had it 2 toned and new upholstered, I added custom pinstripes (Red), custom wheels, running boards, adjustable rear air shocks (so we can haul heavier loads), a LineX spray in bed liner, dashboard cover, window vents, tinted windows, tonneau cover (to keep the snow out of the bed during winter). Before adding a K&N intake and a 3” FlowMaster exhaust system, I was getting 19mpg on the highway with the cruise control set on 75mph. I now consistently get 23mpg. Our Ranger is a 4WD with the 4.0L V6 and a 5spd automatic transmission, 3.55 gears in the limited slip rear differential. It has a factory tow pkg. it’s an XLT trim (I love the chrome). It’s a sweet looking little pickup. I get a LOT of compliments on the interior and exterior color scheme. That Silver over Red metallic makes it a 1 of a kind. When it hit 30K miles I had the front and rear differential, transfer case and transmission fluid changed. I change the oil and filter every 6 months, (which is about 1K - 1,500 miles) with Valvoline full synthetic “High Mileage” oil and filter. The High Mileage oil has additives that reduces wear and we want our vehicles to last as long as possible. Every 3 years the radiator is back flushed and new antifreeze is added. When the factory tires wore out I had Cooper Discoverer A/T tires installed. My brother had a 2008 Ranger like ours, but his was a 2WD. He’s a maintenance nut like I am. He sold it last year 2023 and bought a new Tacoma double cab 4WD Limited. He had 250K miles on his 08 Ranger. We have a nephew who is already begging us for our Ranger. He has a 2010 Ranger with the same power train as ours. He just hit 300K miles and it’s starting to burn about 1/2 a quart of oil between oil changes. He changes his oil every 5K miles. If the new Toyota Stout comes with an AWD, Hybrid extra cab and a 6’ bed, we’ll sell our Ranger to him and buy the Stout. If we can’t get the 6’ bed, then our nephew will have to wait until we die and it’ll go to him. Who knows, by then his youngest son might be driving by then and will need a low mileage 4WD truck to get him to school and back. By then it’ll be a Classy old pickup truck. I keep hinting to my wife that I’d love to drop a 5.0L (302) V8 in the Ranger. It’s a snug fit, but I’ve seen it done. It will probably never happen, but this old duffer can dream 😁
I’ll put cash down-full price plus a good commission to the dealership…right the hell NOW! My first new vehicle was a 1985 SR5 Toyota 4x4….Mirage Limited Edition. I put over 500k on that truck…even though halfway through its life, I rolled it one 2:52 and a half times in Sandbridge VA. Life moved on,I’m got married, rust took her body…I sold it for $1200….a Navy Sailor was going to use it as a surf fishing rig, so I knew she went to a good home. Through life, I ended up with 5 more Toyotas, two of them Tacomas. My current ride is a 2020 Tacoma Off Road. I’d sell my classic Porsche, my old Jeep Wrangler and this Tacoma….fir a chance at another SMALL Toyota pick up!
when and where can I buy one? All those Trucks out now are just oversized and overpriced in their "bank owned" financiers "owners" Lots are full of them. $70k for a Truck. Really? one would have to be a fool to pay that.

Still have an1988 Toyota longbed 4wd I use for work truck on a daily basis. These new trucks have no use. The beds are so small they make no sense for someone who wants a work type truck.
So not a first look. And the Tacoma isn't a compact truck. You should look at the compact pickup Toyota recently displayed at the auto show in Japan. Interesting thing is it is left hand drive. Japan is a right hand drive country. So very possible it's on its way to the States. If they have a hybrid version I'll buy one.

A small affordable road worthy 4x4 pickup ....... that's all we need!!!!!!
Absolutely!
Just bring back the early Tacoma's with just the extra cab. Fits in the Garage nicely.

The perfect balance IMHO.

2 door with a 5 foot bed will be fine for me as I'm not that tall and I could use it for camping. Just need to sleep diagonal.
